I'll post and read more later...

As most may have heard... I took a header off the porch at my sil's mother's house yesterday...(Marilyn... translation... I fell) was walking out to catch up with my brother and never even saw the small step that goes between the porch and the walkway... it was only about a 4 inch step... but it was enough to send me flying. Twisted my ankle pretty bad...thought I was going to faint... skinned both knees, palms of my hands got scraped and I hit my head so I have some scratches and black and blue above my eyebrow. no headache so I didn't worry about the head too much.. I was singing all the songs on the way home to myself.. I figured if I couldn't remember the words.. then I would get my head checked...lol

can't walk too well.. pretty sore everywhere... gonna stay off the ankle and am icing it on and off.

The QM is wonderfully taking care of me... and drove the whole way home last night... :thumbsup2 (and even went out and braved Walmart for supplies...)

Oh dear, that sounds a bad fall Michelle. Did you get your ankle checked out or is it obviously just sprained? They usually say with a sprain and stiff muscles to keep moving these days so things don't tense up and cause more pain. But that is easier said than done I know.

I didn't stick around to sell popcorn this morning because the moms of the 2 boys there felt it wouldn't be fair to share sales with Tyler when he's not sitting there selling. Justifiable. The scout master took me off to the side to talk about it and told me he tried to make this work because he sees Chuck not participating. He also told me he was concerned because "That woman who brought Tyler to scouts this week" mentioned that they're moving soon. "That woman " was stepmom, LOL! I told him it's my plan to try to convince them to let me take Tyler to scouts on the weeks he's with them so Tyler won't have to leave his friends. He had some unkind words to share about Chuck. Funny, that's the same reaction I've always gotten from all teachers too. But I just bit my tongue and told him I didn't want to bash anybody. ;)

Had a dream (or maybe i should say nightmare) last night that Chuck and I decided we wanted Tyler to have a sibling that's "full-blooded ", not just half, so we....um....made that happen. YUCK! LOL!

YUCK! Nightmare for sure!! UGH!!!

Deb, you mentioned a tsunami in Hawaii. Isn't the DCL Hawaii cruise going on right now?

And speaking of Hawaii cruise, how sad hearing about somebody from our cruise getting a diagnosis of inoperable stage 4 cancer. Judy? I never met her, but how awful. Things like that sure put the rest of our problems in perspective. :(

Like Marilyn said, they are out of Hawaii and now they're even off the ship already....so all is good. Besides, they only had 2 ft. waves when the tsunami hit honolulu. So it was safe.

YES, I read about Judy. I didn't meet her either, but I remember all of her posts so I feel like I know her. It was a shock to read. I feel so aweful for her and her family.

It sure does put things in perspective. Live your life to the fullest!!!

Wow! I think I found somebody I met in London in the summer of 1987 on FB! He was a boy from Oslo, Norway and we spent 3 days hanging out in London, got to know each other very well (innocently, of course, as we were both just teenagers). We spent a year writing letters, and he even sent me some neat gifts from Norway, even talked on the phone a couple times. But he was in the Norwegian Navy and about to go on a submarine for an extended period for training and we lost touch. I've tried to Google him over the years with no luck. Haven't checked FB for a few years for him, but he popped into my mind today, so I did a search and I knew it by his eyes. Bald now, but the eyes gave him away! So I just messaged him to see if he even remembers me. I also dug out pictures of us from back then and attached to a message. How cool! Will be fun to see how his life turned out. :thumbsup2

AWESOME!!! I hope he remembers you too and messages you back. How very cool!!!! Keep us informed about him if he writes back.

OH NO Shell. How aweful. I hope you heal quickly and don't go bump in the dark when the storm hits and we lose electric. BE CAREFUL!!!! And take good care of you and the QM.

John and the kid stayed home today.....YAY!!! They will probably stay home tomorrow too. The University officially closed except for essential employees, which John and the kid are. But they called in anyway. Good!

Now they pushed back the time for Sandy to hit land. She is still due to arrive in Atlantic City but not until midnight tonight. And we have a full moon high tide between 8-9pm. The outer rings have come ashore and they are already at 59 mph and Sandy's location is still 350 miles south east off shore....somewhere off the shore of Washington, D.C. They're saying she has a 1,000 mile radius. OMG that's big!

They moved up the time for Sandy to hit land....about an hour or an hour and a half from now. That puts it at 4pm - 5pm. They said it picked up speed. And it also picked up wind gusts.

Monica, I' m happy all is well with your family! :yay: Hopefully Maryland will be cleaned up before you arrive.

Yikes Michelle, look before you leap. ;) thank goodness you weren't seriously hurt.

Rich and I are both home today and tomorrow. It's raining pretty good and some pretty healthy gusts of wind are happening. Hopefully it blows through quickly.

It's just a sprain.. I can put my weight on it finally.. but not for long... each day it gets better...

they say to keep it moving doing careful exercises to stretch it out... luckily I've been in PT for years so I know what careful is...

Trick or treating might just be delayed. It will happen eventually.

Well.. if they don't come by Saturday.. It's ALL MINE!!!!! :woohoo::woohoo:

QM and I are tucked in safe and sound... pizza here for dinner...

Apparently I didn't look!!! :rotfl::rotfl: I think I was pulling my keys out of my purse... I found my glasses slightly bent, so I think that's where I landed... :headache:

Definitely!

Absolutely. Live every moment!

I will. Looks like he only gets on FB once a month or so. So it could be a while before I hear anything.

So glad they're safe at home! :grouphug:

Very sweet. We were in Tyler's bed a while ago, after I read to him at bedtime. I was explaining something to him, a strategy I have for a situation and he said "Mom, you're so amazing! I can't put it into words, can't even tell you what I mean, but you're just so awesome at everything!" And he was all emotional like he was about to start crying. I told him, "No silly, it's just because I have an amazing kid!" :thumbsup2

Now he will soon be to the age where kids think their parents know NOTHING, LOL!

I can't imagine being close to the hurricane because even all the way over here, the wind is so loud it's howling outside and my front door is banging like it's trying to open! CRAZY! Must be so scary for everybody in the direct area!

It's quiet now.. thank goodness... it howled for hours... not much rain here yet... but I'm sure that we are in for the back side of the storm to start through soon.

Hoping no snow...

Wow, it doesn't get any better than that. He IS an awesome kid and especially for telling you that. You can be so very proud!!

If you're anywhere near water, you get the surge which causes flooding and the wind. If stong enough, it can pick up houses and move them....Sandy did.

But where I live and Michelle lives and Cork too.....the worst is the wind. We have some rain, but the wind is worse than the rain. We don't have any sea surge or flooding....at least not in my neighborhood. We have downed trees all around the neighborhood, but thankfully none at my house....only branches.

I'm used to hurricanes, having lived in this general area all my life. What terrorizes me is a tornado. You have those sometimes, don't you? That would really scare me. Even worse would be an earthquake. Yuk!

We don't get the actual surge... but the rivers flood.. that's what happened with Irene...

As the QM says... never underestimate the power of water...

Tornados are pretty common here. Common enough where all the schools have regular tornado drills as often as fire drills and when you're out in public you always know where the tornado shelters are.
