 Sorry about the car expenses and the need to cancel excursions. Glad you do not have to cancel the trip.

Got this message from a complete stranger on FB....how could he message me if we're not friends.....I don't know but this is what he said:

"Just added to the Hawaii group. We are not DISers for obvious reasons but if you have room for four on Champagne my wife, daughter and two aunts would love to join you. Let me know if you have the space."

Can you imagine......we are not disers for obvious reasons......what does that mean? Is he insulting us? Then he wants to add FOUR ladies that have no clue what they're signing up for....he said if you have room for four on Champagne. It sounds like we're on drugs or something. He doesn't have a clue what this event is all about.

I told him sorry, closed event because it's full. He wrote back and said to let him know if there are any cancellations. I have 90 ladies as of right now. I'm allowed up to 95, but I didn't think it was a good idea to add them.

I am glad you had an answer that had been consistent for several weeks. This is part of the reason I do not like the FB-DIS cross over. There are people there who are not here so events are not exclusive to our group.

If you go to the profile page of someone who is not a "friend" there is a button to click that lets you send them a message. I have used it a couple times when i wanted to ask a question off the group page or to ask a friend to accept my invitation to be FB friends. It does not obligate you to reply, but it is part of how the current FB system works.

More busyness continues this week. On Saturday I have the people from 1-800-Got-Junk coming with a truck to haul away TONS of stuff, just about my whole garage, so I need to pull out stuff from the house that I want them to take too. It's so exciting, I don't have to do anything but POINT to what I want removed and they will take it all, then they clean up afterwards. They recycle 80% of what they take but donating anything in good shape and recycling anything that's recyclable. They're not cheap, but it's time. Yes, that's another couple excursions I'm sacrificing, but it's time. I feel that if I wait, I will continue to procrastinate and this will help me get my house back in order. :cool1:

And I still have to mow and saw the fallen tree into smaller pieces that can be put out for yard waste pickup (they won't take anything longer than 4 ft). Busy, busy, busy! I'm so ready for vacation! :cloud9:

1-800-Got Junk is a great idea!! :thumbsup2

I wonder if you could call places that sell firewood and see if they would come cut up your tree and haul it away to sell.

Deb and Monica, don't feel too disappointed about cancelling excursions. I might be doing the same because of buying my couch. I've needed one for years and just couldn't take it any longer. The old one would slip out from under you as you sit because the cushions were so warped and it dipped in the middle, so you and the other person on it were forced to lean into each other. :rotfl:And it was ripped all over. I got it when Tyler was 3, so it's had almost 7 years of a bouncing tornado all over it. ;) And it's a loveseat (cheaper than a full size couch, and it was all I could afford back then), so neither of us could ever lay down on it. Anyway, I've been trying to afford a new one for a long time and just had to bite the bullet, deciding it's worth it if I have to sacrifice a few excursions. I don't regret that decision at all.

BUT......just yesterday I discovered something is really wrong with my car (trying to arrange to have it looked at this week), and I have no idea how much that repair will cost, so there go more excursions I may need to cancel.

HOWEVER, last night at Bible study when sharing all this, one friend said "Well, you can get off the ship, right? It doesn't cost any money to walk around and see HAWAIIAN flowers and amazing scenery, which is more than any of us back at home will be doing!" WONDERFUL perspective and now I'm fine with whatever happens (looks like I can keep a couple excursions, but I have to sit down and budget this weekend and make my final decision). :thumbsup2

What a great attitude! Nothing like friends to help us maintain our perspective.

Thanks! :) I can't remember anything I picked and have been too busy and lazy to dig up my ressie number to be able to log on and check. :rotfl2: But I'll keep this in mind for sure in case I end up cancelling whatever I signed up for there. And Heather offered me to ride in their jeep in Maui (I think that's where and of course I'll pitch in towards the cost) if I end up canceling whatever I signed up for there. I'll look it all up this weekend and sit down and budget after I find out how much my car will cost to get fixed. Something is loose underneath, I can't see anything hanging, but every bump I go over causes it to sound like my tire is falling off (I checked, the tires are not loose). Bad clunky sound. Dropping off at a car place next to work to get it checked out/fixed. :headache:

I like those clunky things better than the silent ones that give no notice before something stops totally. :upsidedow

Best wishes on the whole situation.

Your clothes are 3 sizes to SMALL and your bathing suit is too BIG? :confused3 I'm the same as last summer thankfully. I did not gain my usual 10 lbs this year. :thumbsup2

I think she means everything is too big for her - she's been doing GREAT on WW.

I thought her photos looked like she was loosing, that's why it made no sense to me. Now it does. :thumbsup2
Oops! Yes, I meant they're all too big. Lost 36 pounds. Haven't lost for MONTHS because I haven't been trying, but only gained back a few, not enough to defeat what size I got down to. But I re-started back on track this past Monday and have been doing great again. Even throwing in a bit of exercise too. My goal is 73 pounds, so I'm just under halfway, but will definitely get there this year. :goodvibes

Having a rough night tonight....not sure why, but feeling quite down. feel like I could start crying at any moment. I hate it when I feel this way. It hasn't happened much since I was put on the new meds, but it's hit me today.

I think I'll be heading to bed soon...maybe sleep will knock this out of my system.
Aw, Monica, so sorry! I'd hug you if my arms could reach! Hang in there, you'll be with tons of friends who love you VERY SOON!!!! :grouphug:

I wonder if you could call places that sell firewood and see if they would come cut up your tree and haul it away to sell.

.
It's not big enough to sell firewood, just too big for yard waste pickup guidelines, so I have to saw it. Finding time is an issue. I was hoping to do it this weekend, but it's supposed to be raining all weekend. So probably tomorrow evening after work I'll try to get it done.

Actually they are very good, but very painful. I've been soaking and cleaning them up so they look good....all clean....but doing it hurts like heck. This week is better than last week for pain so that's good. I still keep the right one wrapped because of the edema. They don't leak with the wrap on...it's tight and keeps the swelling down and the edema under control. But they're doing well for now.

Glad that you are doing well! It does not sound comfortable or easy but sounds like you are making progress.

The boss's wife has our website up and running! Here we are: http://www.brentonlaw.com/ :goodvibes Check back soon because she will be adding a pic of me and my co-worker Jan, plus she'll write a little blurb about each of us.

We blew off the afternoon today because they took us office shopping! We got to tour one of the 3 office buildings they're considering because they wanted to tell us about the layout and furniture and set up they're considering to see what Jan and I think about it. I'm amazed at how much they're including us both in this whole process. They even thought about us when ordering file cabinets because he has always noticed how hard it is for us to get big files up into the top cabinet drawers because Jan and I are both short, so we're lifting the files up over our heads where we can't even see. So the ones they picked are designed totally different, instead of drawers that pull out, meaning you have to lift up and over the drawer edge, these are open and you just slide the files in. I can't really explain it, but it's a much easier type of cabinet for short people. :thumbsup2 There are lots of other personality traits of both me and Jan that they considered when picking furniture and even the layout of the office space. Wow! I totally feel appreciated and like I have a permanent home with them. :cloud9:

Then they treated us to lunch out, and during lunch talked about the 2 associate lawyers they've interviewed and are considering hiring, and how we get to meet them too and give our input before they make a final decision. Yup, business has gotten so much busier already that they need a 3rd lawyer. :woohoo:Now.......it would be nice if we had paid vacation, because it does suck to have lost 5 paid weeks. :headache: OUCH! Especially with 2 weeks off for the cruise. They just haven't had time to sit down and discuss benefits with us yet. They barely have payroll up and running and are having trouble with the billing system. But they're doing the best they can, and I trust that it will all fall into place. They're great people, and I have no doubts that they'll treat us well. :dance3: It's just taking time to get everything sorted. And now with me leaving, they've had to figure out how to go about hiring a temp, so Jan and I told them which service we want them to use and even which temp to request, LOL! ;)

GREAT things are happening! :cheer2:

:thumbsup2 WOW !!! :cool1:

:grouphug: I get that too. I bet it is much more common than we know, just not many women talk about it.

I blame it on hormone changes. Those of us not on medication and those of us on medication still have hormone drops as we head into menopause and no medication will change that. Even prescribed hormones just maintain an artificial amount but do not maintain a level since the hormones that our bodies make have dropped so the total is less. (does that make any sense?) :grouphug:

Just know, you are not alone! Can you imagine our grandmothers going through this with doctors who told them they were hysterical? it was all in their heads? :scared1: they were crazy? :sad1:
and how many were put on strange drugs? :sad2:

:sad2: Oh....

 Do you have a neighbor or friend with a fireplace who might like it for kindling and would be willing to come cut, load and haul it away in exchange for having the wood or maybe some beer? :rolleyes1

No fireplaces. One of my neighbors does so much for me already, because he knows I struggle with house stuff, I know he'd take care of it for me but I don't want to bother him with something I can actually do myself (I need the exercise). He already offered to install heated coils on the roof (if I buy them) before next winter. He uses them on his roof to prevent snow buildup and ice dams and eventually leaky roof. GREAT neighbor! :thumbsup2

No more green color type for me.....they upgraded and did away with all colors. That just saddens me. I liked the colors. Oh well!

:thumbsup2 I'm with you Angie. And I would have asked what the "obvious" reason is. What makes it so Obvious?

good morning Ladies. I see the planning for your Hawaii cruise is coming along. Looking forward to seeing some of you at the Thieves dinner.:goodvibes

Oh and Deb, you have to have your FB privacy settings set to.."only friends can message you".

Thanks V.....I fixed it on FB.

I saw today that the guy who wrote that to me.....is in the Roy suite and from what he was saying, he's a TA coz he mentioned all the people who booked through him.

I'm not changing my mind. His family has no idea what the event is all about and I don't like the way that he talked about DISers.

Besides, I've seen the Roy Suite before.....getting off the ship in the morning, if the family has left and housekeeping is cleaning.....they let you in to look around. I can skip his offer to go see it on a stateroom tour.

Mom & Dad have been dropped off at the airport. I'm tired & grumpy, but just got good news from the accountant (refund :cool1:). Not sure if I will have $ prior to Hawaii or not.....I should keep that for the painting :lmao:

YAY about getting the refund. Keep it for the house painting if you can.

Happy that mom and dad had a great visit and now are off to spend some time with Lisa and the kids.

Hmmm...maybe he is some celeb who thinks you should recognize his name and thus the "obvious". :cool2:

Oh I hope you get it before, but in any case it should be deposited into your account while you are gone. I get my first social security check deposited while we are gone. :cool1::goodvibes

He's a TA....I read his offer to show off the Roy Suite that he's staying in and he mentioned others that booked through him. I think it sounds like he is a bit full of himself.

I had TONS of down time today at work, so I checked out my excursions to see what I'd signed up for. ;)

On Oahu I'm signed up for "Explore & Taste O‘ahu's North Shore." I definitely can't give that one up because when would I ever have a chance to go into people's homes in Hawaii and eat there? Such a different experience, I just have to do it! :thumbsup2 And then in the evening I'm doing the "Haunted Tales Tour." Both of those are my cheapest excursions, so they stay. Both combined cost less than any single other one I've picked.

On Maui I'm signed up for the "Rainforest and Waterfall Hike." I'm looking forward to that one more than any other, so I have to keep it.

Then when I looked at all my excursions, I realized I CAN'T cancel any of them. They're all amazing! So I decided today I'm going to make it happen. One way or another, it will happen. After all, this is one of my bucket list trips, so I'm going to live it up! :goodvibes

John was able to get money out of his pension account. We took half of the amount that we just spent on cars. I already cancelled most things and cut my expenses in half. So now I have some additional money, but less expenses. I feel like I can breathe easily and relax about it. So all is good.

Thanks for the website. I bookmarked it and will go back later and check it out.

How great does it feel to know that you're part of the team and that your opinion counts. It's very rare and special when you get a good group of people all working together that get along so well. Enjoy it.

I hate when that happens. Just do whatever you feel like doing. I usually put on a tear jerker movie to watch. Then I cry at the movie and feel much better.

Sweet Mickey Dreams....and many hugs!!!

It worked out financially....it's all good now.

I don't like the FB/DIS crossover either. The DIS is the DIS and FB is FB. It's very redundant when you have to post all notices in both places and then keep up with the responses in four different places....as posts and PMs on both FB and the DIS. It gets crazy.

Thanks for the lesson, I fixed it after I saw V's post. All is well.

Congrats on sticking with it this time and really doing well. You'll make it all the way to goal. Keep going. Don't stop. YAY!!!!

It's hard for me to get used to the black type. I keep going for the green color and it's just not there.....so strange.

I spent the day doing the last of the laundry for packing. I just add it to everything already in the suitcases and I'm done with that. But I still have a long TO DO list.

Saturday me and John are going for haircuts and for me color and highlights and eyebrows. Then I have to get my mani/pedi the following Saturday. I like to do nails as late as possible before leaving on the trip just so they stay nice the whole time.

I'm getting a messy bob haircut to the bottom of the collar in length. It's really long now and needs to be short again.
