We have no specific plans for this weekend. Just the usual errands and football. We're getting ready for our trip to Montauk with my cousins. While we're out there with Jeff and Amy, they are going to visit my cousin Donna and my Aunt Barbara on Friday. We are going to visit my cousin scoot and his family on Friday. They are all brothers and sisters, so you would think that we could get everybody together under one roof......nope, it's not going to happen. Not this trip. We usually do Christmas or New Years together and everybody shows up. But this year we're doing Montauk for Turkey Day and then just visiting them on one day and everyone is busy, busy.

My cousin Donna and I have the same birthday too. She was my present when I was 11. I wanted a girl so badly because I was the only girl out of all the kids in the family. I got my wish. The best part was that she lived around the corner from us so we got to see each other a lot all through growing up. Donna was my maid on honor at my wedding also. She's a nurse and her husband is a pharmacist. They both work for Stony Brook Hospital so they live locally in Port Jefferson. I grew up going to Port Jeff harbor with my Uncle Teddy launching his boat. We went there every weekend and took the boat out. I have great memories of the town that Donna lives in now. I love visiting her there.

Run fast and far, far away from that place. Everyone in there is just waiting to die because of their age and ailments. The QM has no ailments and she is certainly full of more life than her age shows. That is NOT the place for her, no matter how nice it was. Mrs. Bush's was like a luxury hotel except that everyone in there was just waiting to die. It's creepy. The QM does NOT belong among those people. She is youthful and healthy and living well in her life. Good! Leave her alone.

Karma will get your sister and she will end up in a place like that. hahaha.

I'm going to step away and let Karma get her... not worth my time or energy...

Exactly Marilyn.....they MAKE you old when you're not. Not a good place to go.

yeah.. I don't think it would be good for her.

I don't see how she could even last a week. It's very depressing even if it's a nice place.

Roofs are expensive. A reverse mortgage is a great idea.

I think if she didn't have much of a choice than to live in a place like that, then she'd work it out.

She'll stay with me.. and when it's time for me to get a place of my own... I will make sure we have a room for her on the first floor...

We just have to figure out how to do things in the future.. if things get figured out and i get the chance to travel, mom will have to go and visit family I guess..

Glad to hear you are going to get to see some more family on turkey day!!!

We're staying home... we decided that a while ago... mom's been getting supplies along the way...

yesterday she got the green beans for the cassarole!!!

Hi Holly!!!

(that's for all the times I had a brain fart and forgot to mention her... :flower3:)

I thought you'd like this one over here better... ;)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY DEB!!!!

(was that good???)

:cutie:

Awwww shucks Shell.....it was so nice of you, but you shouldn't have. I love it. I did have one cupcake for my birthday instead of a cake this year....how appropriate. And the champagne will be popped over turkey day weekend. My cousin's wife, Amy's birthday was the 17th. We have lots to cheer about.

My new laptop came yesterday. It's an ultrabook and it's really thin. I like it. I'm still using the old one since John is charging the new one. Then he has to partition the hard drive and clone it with this one. He's my IT guy and does all that stuff. I just use the machine when it's all done.

Me and the kid worked in Tom's vacant bedroom this past weekend. We threw out a lot of things and gave a lot to goodwill. Then after we emptied the room, we started putting boxes that are going to Florida in it. I thought I wasn't going to take anything with me except for turtles and Disney collectibles. NOT!! I have more boxes than I thought I would have to bring with me and we only did one room so far. At least we have gotten started and made lots of progress. I think we'll do one room per weekend.

Today I have to pack for our weekend in Montauk. It will take four to five hours to get there depending on traffic thru Manhattan. So we will have to leave about 9-10 am. Check in is at 2pm. I'm excited and will post pics on FB.

Have a safe trip Deb!!!

Thanks Shell. I'm all ready and packed. It was pretty simple with only 3 days to pack.

My cousin Donna, my 11th birthday present, is going to be in Washington, D.C. for turkey weekend, so we're not going to see her and her family. But we are going to see her brother, Scoot and his wife Kathy. They have one son, Donald who is 12 years old. Jeff is Donna and Scoot's brother. Jeff and Amy and family, Lily 15 and Jeffrey 2, are going to Scoot's house with us and are staying with us in Montauk. Hopefully their mother, my Aunt Barbara, will come to Scoot's house too so we can all visit with her also. It's going to be a weekend with the cousins.

We are just staying home, the two of us.

Not sure what the family is doing in Jersey... they aren't having it at their house so they didn't invite anyone. I imagine they are going to the inlaws... Better for us.. quiet... I'm in the mood for quiet.

(and I have to do some heavy cleaning and sew a stocking this weekend...)

Deb, when my parents moved to Scottsdale from Indiana they only brought what would fit in the station wagon! I don't think I could 'pear down' that much, that's for sure!

When we moved (twice - once from our house and then from the condo...) we pared down quite a bit.

We still had too much.

If you get the chance - even in Florida.. go through it again and always ask yourself.. do I need it?

Sometimes you hold on to something for sentimental reasons and you don't really need it after all. Some you hold onto.. but I found you don't need it all and later you look back and say "Why the he11 did I keep that???) :rotfl:

It's better that you and the QM stay home and cook and have lots of leftovers. Then you won't have any stress from the family frowning upon your lifestyle. It could be a nice day of food and sewing and being good company for each other.

WOW....that's hard. We have furniture that we're bringing with us so we'll have a moving truck. I can have some boxes, but I don't want too many of them.

Maybe I'll go back through the stuff I said I was keeping and sort through it some more.

I think it's easier to throw it out on the other end. If it doesn't have a place to put it, then it doesn't stay. It's hard to know that on this end.
