It won't start... I think I need an alternator... it's been sitting in the driveway since November. I use mom's car right now.

I have to borrow $, maybe from my sister to get it fixed... then I'll go back to work.. it will only be pt for now because of the SS disability... but it will be something.

Shell, are we going to go see the Fantasy? Forget the Christening because it's at night. But are we going to go stand out in the freezing cold on Feb 28th at 7:00am, or earlier, in NJ? I don't think John has enough time to take off for it. I really can't see myself out in the cold for hours or riding the staten island ferry for that matter. Are you really set on going?

Since everything is at night... not really...

The only way I'd go is if I could afford dinner at the Chart House and then maybe be there if they do fireworks over the river... but who knows...

Deb... it's gonna be REALLY cold I think and you know that's the time of year when the noreasters tend to come up the coast... so that makes me leery...

& you know... tolls went up at the crossings... $12 now just to do the tunnels...

An alternator should be easy to fix. Do you have a local mechanic that you like? Are you getting any money back from your taxes? You could fix it then without having to ask your sister for help.....so you don't have to hear it afterwards......just saying.

I've never had the problem with the car before. It's a Honda and it's been a really great car (knock wood...) I don't have a mechanic nearby... the dealer is up the road... I'd have to have them run a diagnostic on it and pray it's just the alternator...

Asking my sister is much better than asking my brothers..

You know.. since it is in the winter.. I think they are going to do most of it inside the ship... they could do it in the theater and serve dinner and maybe have the fireworks (IF they have them... after...) those who are going might not see anything at all...

the only thing they did with the Dream that would need to be done with the Fantasy is the breaking of the champagne bottle... and they can show live video in the theater... the rest was just a show really.. and they could do that on the ship.

I know they are bringing the ship in to meet the delivery date and to expose it to the NYC market... but February is really a stupid time to do it..

Yea, that's not bad....as long as it's only the alternator.

Yea, those brothers are scary!!!!

I'm so glad that me and my brother are not like that about money. He helps me out, no questions.....I help him out, no questions. We both are there for each other no matter what. I have never given him a problem about it and he never gave me a problem. We do what we have to do to help each other when we need to. That's what family is for.

YUP February is a really stupid time to do it. It's just way too cold to be out over the water. Inside is much warmer. John needs to save the time off for Hawaii anyway. I don't relish the idea of getting up so early and standing outside on the waterfront for hours just to see the boat go by in the dark. And what if it gets in earlier than scheduled. Then we missed it. It's not worth it.

I can almost guarantee that there will be TONS of pictures all over the internet of it in NYC... and you know with the Hudson... it can get rough... and when the weathers bad... sometimes you can't even see the city from Weehawken.

I think they are going to bring it in to co incide with Good Morning America.. they will do it while it is daylight (although early) so they can get pictures of it around the Statue of Liberty. They did that with the Cunard ships when both the Queen Vic and the Queen Liz were both in the harbor together.

I'd say it was time to ditch the hotel ressie I'm holding for the night of the 27th in Staten Island. I thought I would get up early and jump on the ferry. But I can't even be sure of what time to get on it. I don't want to ride the ferry for 2 hours before 7am just in case it gets in early.

Besides.. you could probably see it from the nice warm Hyatt we had lunch at with Deborah if we knew when it was to sail out... lol

& I remember being able to see ships (especially the Tall Ships) from Sandy Hook when they had them drop anchor before coming into the harbor...

They not only have to bring it into the harbor.. but they have to wait for tugboats to bring it up the river and turn it around and dock it. It's a LOT closer than some of the other piers they've gone into.. they were built in the 1940's for the older ships and modified.

no.. they just see me as the bratty little sister they grew up with.. I'm the youngest and Timmy especially has looked at my struggles as failures instead of achievements.
