Happy New Year All!. I have a day off, was looking at the meets and was surprised to see that this thread is still alive and well.
I wish we could go to Hawaii with you all, but our DD is getting married April 28th and there is no way we could get everyone out the door before the cruise leaves.
Rich and I lived in Hawaii back in '92. I am sure things have changed but if anyone has any ?'s. We could probably give you a few tips.
If you are thinking of renting a car, keep in mind the thieves really target rentals, so DON't leave anything in the car or trunk.
If you want to go to Pearl Harbor, try to be there for the first few boats, as they have limited amounts of launches and they fill up fast. Plus you don't want to have to sit around and wait for the next boat.
Waimea Falls on the north shore Oahu is really nice. Hilo Hattie was the place to go for Aloha wear. If the Flea market is running at the Aloha Stadium, you can get cheap souvenirs and aloha wear. Avoid the International Market in Waikiki, it's a tourist trap. Going to Diamond head, bring a flashlight, some of the tunnels are dark, although the may be lighted now. It's been 20 years,

Yikes since we have been there.
The Hilton Hawaiian Village had a nice luau, but if you can, go to the Old Lahaina Luau on Maui. It is GREAT! Haleakala Crater is great to see at sunrise. Once the clouds roll in mid morning, you are in fog. Haven't been there at sunset, but watch the cloud cover. If you plan on renting a car in Maui check to see if you can take it on the road to Hana, some have hidden restrictions.
