Happy New Year All!

I have been pretty quiet for a few months. More perhaps.

What a year 2010 was! A good portion of it for me was truly horrible. Work was a nightmare, and even that is understating it. It caused me to be sick, get taken to the hospital and endless other problems. I never realized just how much stress and unhappiness could have such an impact.

My job and work virtually consumed the year.

Happily also 2010 was a case of all's well that ends well. I found a new job, a bunch of dear friends came to share Thanksgiving with us. All this happened in just the last 6 weeks of the year.

I've been in the new job for a month, and I'm very, very happy.

On a somewhat positive note, my experience with the NY company did reset or lower my yardstick (metre stick for our friends to the north) for measuring just how toxic a work culture can be. It has really made me appreciate my new environment.

Also in the last month of the year, Illinois passed a civil union bill. Not quite marriage, but it offers us further protection in our home state, which does not recognize our California marriage status.

This is sad, but reality. It was a point driven home to me when I started my new job and they refused to recognize our marriage license. I had to fill out legal affidavits for the company for our "domestic partnership" something that they do not require of other couples with out of state marriage licenses.

This means we're going to get hitched again, this time in Illinois and are starting to plan another wedding.

So, now the new job, the wedding has thrown all of our vacation plans up in the air and we have to reassess some of our cruises.

Oh well, the best laid plans of mice and men often go astray, but I'm thrilled because instead of being disrupted due to bad things, they're being disrupted due to good things.

I also want to thank you my friend, for having given me so much moral support throughout 2010.

May 2011 bring everyone much happiness, good health and dreams come true.

good to have you back over here... it's nice to see you over on FB... but it's a bit more intimate thieves wise over here... We missed you!!!

Ian, 2010 really was a tumultuous year for you, wasn't it? I'm so glad to hear that it ended on a much more positive note though, and that you have some great things to look forward to this year :goodvibes

I do hope you don't have to cancel the LA/Alaska B2B :wizard:

Great minds Kathe!!!!

(sometimes I think I should just face west and :yay:)

Happy New Year Gydell...and to all!!!

Hope everyone had a happy and safe New Year's :thumbsup2

Pretty quiet here, but I did have fun with Serenity. She came for a sleep over and just went home a little while ago. I'm too tired(or lazy ;)) to take the tree and all the decorations down today, so they will just have to wait until my next day off! I wanted to leave them up for Serenity's visit, she really enjoyed playing with all of my little people around the lighted Christmas houses :goodvibes

Our tree is coming down tomorrow. It's just too cute to do away with this early. It's an artificial one so we haven't had to worry about watering it... but I've gotta say... it's was a cheap one and it's amazing how many needles come off of it!!!

My sister gave us a garmin and a video camera for Xmas... so I guess if we get lost, we can find our way home and take pictures of it.

Some of you may have seen my blurb on FB about me being my resolution this year. I've decided it's time. All around. Not anything specific, although I'm sure that that will come along with it. But it has been a very difficult year for me and it has taken it's tole. I think it's time, as Rafiki says.

Hoping all of my friends here a healthy and happy new year to come... and hopefully we will all see each other very soon! :grouphug:

I hope it all goes well for your mom. John has to have a small basal cell carcinoma removed when we get back from our vacation. It is on his ear, and not dangerous, just could get yucky and bigger. He isn't looking forward to the op and having a bite taken out of his ear though!!!;)

Tell him it's not too bad. I've had quite a few removed, but "squamous" rather than basal, but same procedure I'd assume.

Haven't read your blurb, but I am glad you sound like you are going to take the time to look after you this year. You know we are always here for you

My New Year's resolution this year is to focus less on how much I hate my job :headache: and more on doing the things I want to in life! I have spent far too many hours over the last few years wasting time and not doing the things I want/should because I have allowed my job to exhaust me. This year I am going to focus on what really matters. I might even FINALLY get out all of my scrapbooking materials ;) I actually accomplished more over this last Christmas season than I have been able to for some time, and although I have been tired, it has also made me feel really good for accomplishing what I set out to do!

Love the pics! :) So looking forward to seeing you all! :)

Ian, you deserve all the great changes going on. So happy the new job is going well, and although it shouldn't have to be this way, how wonderful to have another wedding to plan!:cool1: Just focus on the celebratory part of it and that will make it even more special. :thumbsup2 Will friends be able to come share the big day? Any estimate on when?

Our tree is staying up. Too lazy to take it down and I want to try and tackle Shannon's craft room (currently storage room) before we deal with the tree. So the tree will come down next weekend. Tomorrow is all about the craft room. Today is all about the lazy...

What's actually pretty funny is we looked back at the pic we did for New Year's Eve 2008/2009 and Kaleigh is wearing the same outfit - but her belly isn't showing.

BTW Kathe - if you click on the word "Photoalbum" in my signature it will take you to a webpage I have set up where I put most of my pics - even more than what I post on Facebook. I try and update this more regularly and with more pics than Facebook and it is where I often link pics on here from.

Happy 2011 Everybody!

I've had another lazy day (trying not to catch a cold), but was out for a couple of hours and visited Peggy and sick :sick:Jose for a while this evening. Going to make it an early night tonight.

The BOLDED part of Kathe's message applies to me too! (just substitute 'crafting' for 'scrapbooking' ;)
