:thumbsup2 Hang on tho', are we talking the original classic Leonard Rossiter series or the rather feeble Martin Clunes re-make??? Careful how you answer, now...

I actually loved the books even more and only recently found that the author, David Nobbs, was still writing when I picked up a copy of his latest at the airport. Oh my!!! Richard and I adored it!!! You might want to experiment with Mr. Nobbs and his 'Obstacles to Young Love' on your Nook, Ian...

The original late 1970's series.

That show has a special place in my heart. Not least because it was the favourite show of MFB (My First Boyfriend). For Christmas 1977, I bought him the book and wrote something meaningfully earnest on the flyleaf. And never gave it to him. For one reason or another...

Many months later, I spied the book in my bedroom and decided to read it myself (I wasn't allowed to watch the TV prog at the time - parents, eh?!) only to be confronted by the 'first love' message I'd poured out on the 1st page!!! Embarrassing, much?! Suffice to say, I tore out that offending sheet (may even have burned it!!!) and wrote my own name forcefully on the inside cover. But I've never forgotten the incident, the book or MFB. Aaaaahhh....

Quiet on here today! Michelle & Deb must be resting up after their fun day yesterday. Marilyn, what's your excuse? ;)

Very nice!! You can't get any closer to the track unless you're on a horse!!!

I did watch a few of those but it wasn't my favourite programme. Still, i bet it is funnier than lots they make these days though.

Do you have to be invited? Can't you just find a place and go?

By the way Michelle, I like your hair - suits you.

We tried to get closer.. but I don't like horse poop... :rotfl:

& yes... I could have tried to find a place, but they are very difficult and seeing as we were always a group that went up the same time together... it would have been nice to know (not second hand) that they had made it and never mentioned it to us...

Ohhh yeah... :sad2::sad2:

I'm here.....I'm just very tired today. I've been napping.

Holly, I'm glad we have two weekends off before going to Toronto. I need to rejuvinate my batteries.

John fell down the stairs four nights ago....he says the dog tripped him up. Anyway, he has head bruises and a headache still and it's four nights later. I can't get him to go to the doctor. He said if it still hurts on Friday, then he'll go????? Why wait?????? I can't talk him into doing it sooner. If you think he'll listen to you, PM him a message. He won't listen to me.

Nobody should have a headache for 4 days, even with me and my migraines that's not normal. Especially when he obviously hit his head hard enough to make bruises. Tell him I said get his A$$ to the doctor today because it's not worth risking something being wrong, especially if his head still hurts. Better to be safe than have something bad happen. What if something's slowly bleeding in there? Not trying to scare you, Deb, but hoping you can read this to him and get him to go. We need him in tip-top shape to keep up with you! ;)

I tried to talk to him on Saturday... after I offered him the hot pack, ice and the motrin... The only suggestion he would take from me was to add the extra hollandaise on his eggs benny... :rolleyes1

Ian... Ken... Bubba... I think John needs a little convincing (or stalking) until he gets it taken care of... Please......... :flower3:

John - Go to the doctor. You should not have a headache for 4 days. Better safe than sorry and better safe than stubborn.

My Nook is knackered.

I tried to read on the way home, but it would not wake up out of sleep mode, even after removing the battery. I had to take it to Barnes & Noble this evening.

The store manager said that I won the most bizarre Nook problem. They gave me a new one.

I blame Jackie. She kept fondling, and fondling my Nook for days. Even after a good charging it apparently could not rouse itself.

Jackie - what did you do to my Nook?

She bewitched it and it was pining away for her. :thumbsup2

I did a bit of looking, the David Nobbs books are not available here, at least not the Perrin books. I'd have to search for out of print books.

John, I hope by the time you read this you've had a change of heart and decided to go in get checked out. Head injuries can be very serious; I know this because my father died from one. Sorry for being blunt, but if it scares you into seeing the doctor, it'll have done its job. Please don't wait any longer. Love you!

Listen to Ian please... And don't tell the Dr. you lost all your bets on Saturday because of it... ;)

Ummmm... don't toys like "those" just need new batteries... :rolleyes1

Some more from Saturday...

This was the view tableside in the luxury suite... (this is looking towards the main track area and the finish line...)

Who let him have the bubbly?

This is Calvin Borrell - the jockey that won the Kentucky Derby (he's adjusting his goggles)

John's Lamberghini (it was parked not far from his Rolls... :goodvibes)

Saratoga Race Course has it's own Post Office... They have special postmarks just for the there... I got the one for the Whitney Handicap - it was the big race that was on the calendar that day..

This is the inside of the luxury box... We were in the Alabama Suite...

In the far end is Tom... He was our personal betting guy... (I think he was also taking bets on the side...) Then there were the flat screen TV's that showed the races as they were happening and also the odds etc. while we were waiting. We also had a private bathroom and most importantly... Air conditioning... :thumbsup2 There were 4 private suites in all.

This is Elizabeth... she took care of us and most importantly... brought us bubbly!!!

Picture057.jpg

And here's a better shot of the track. It is THE oldest in the country - all wooden... you can see the clubhouse better from here. (taken from the top of the luxury suite.)

Great photos Michelle. It is funny how different horse race tracks are to ours. Ours are all grass and look so much nicer actually!!:snooty:

YEAHHHHHHH.....John finally agreed to go to the doctor tomorrow. That's because he said he's feeling worse. He's dizzy too. The doctor's office wanted to see him today, but he's already in Newark and says that it's just not possible. He'll take the day off tomorrow and go. Thank goodness. I hope the doctor yells at him for waiting so long.
