HEY KEN!!!!

Can you make a smaller version of this that I could put in my signature...I'd rather have one 'logo' for the LA/Vancouver-Alaska B2B than two separate ones.

The wording on the ship would probably then be too small to see. Maybe just the two sets of date only, slightly larger??? OR...leaving off the bannar at the top? Whadda ya think?

BTW, this is one of my favorites, and I have it printed out and posted on my desk at work. :thumbsup2

.

Yes, you are correct. We don't have many bans but i think we will have one soon. No problem for us as we don't have a lawn, but wouldn't water it if we did anyway. We have a water butt that collects rain draining off the roof which we water the outside pots with etc. Amazing to think after all the rain the last few years. We just use so much more these days.

Good idea to collect the rainwater to use, I like it. :thumbsup2

Could be the American accent that makes it more difficult, or perhaps it is just because we have grown up saying it with an 's'.

I love all the differences in language.

I love the differences too and have learned so much from you over the past years. :goodvibes My favorite saying from you is "Oh crumbs!" and actually use it quite frequently! ;)

A 1/2 birthday??? That is a bit of a con. More presents I guess. However, could it be she has her real birthday at Christmas time, so has another celebration mid year? I did hear of someone doing that.

I'm so pleased to read of all your new found energy. It just wasn't right for a young woman to be sleeping all that time. Think of all the things you now have time to do?
Oh, she specifically instructed guests NOT to bring presents, just to have a gathering for a bit of summer fun. :thumbsup2 I spent 2 hours there, had a great time, and did bring a small gift just because her daughter is too cute NOT to! ;)

Yes, I know, I AM finding so much more time now! Not so long ago, I would have just woken up not too long ago on a Saturday, but today I've been shopping, to a party, and have been at work for an hour already. Nice! :goodvibes

Holly -isn't she the wife that died?

No, I no longer work for the guy whose wife died, he was the 82-year old who NEVER leaves the office, his wife used to go on vacations without him, she travelled alone to visit their kids and grandkids all over the world because he didn't want to be gone from the office more than a couple days. He was always the first one in every morning and the last one out every evening. Losing his wife was a wake-up call, very sad, but now he's always gone at noon, and has been on at least 4 one-week trips to visit kids and grandkids. He's officially retiring now (when he used to say he'll retire the day he dies) and is only in the office to wrap up his files and start passing them on to another guy in the office.

I stopped working for the old guy 2 years ago when the "wine guy" (Mr. Energizer Bunny) stole me from him. :rotfl2: It caused tons of chaos and tension in the office, but immediately took away my stress. It was very difficult working for somebody that age, as I really needed to be his memory as well as mine, plus he works very very inefficiently and still does things the way they were done before my time. Nowadays, lawyers dictate everything they want done on tapes and we listen to them and do what we're instructed to do, composing many documents on our own for their review. The old guy would call me into his office, have me sit down and "take a letter", meaning I'd have to write it as he dictated it to me. He couldn't believe that shorthand wasn't taught when I was in school and told me to make up my own or figure it out. :lmao: Then I'd have to go sit down and type it, take it to him for any changes he may have, and repeat. I'd often go back and forth on one single document 5 times.

Now I do what I know needs to be done, the 5 lawyers I work for know I don't need much instruction, and I love working independently. It's very fulfilling to know what needs to be done, sit down, and get it done, without somebody telling me every 5 minutes what I need to do. :thumbsup2 I can honestly say I love my job!

I have to admit we did 1/2 birthday at school for Molly since she is a summer bday - but it didn't involve a party and gifts - just me bringing a treat to share at school :thumbsup2
Nan, birthday treats at school are always fun! :goodvibes

OK.....back to work. Been here almost 2 hours and just can't get motivated to work too intensely, but will keep plugging away for a couple more hours. That's what I like about working weekends, I can come and go as I please. :goodvibes Extra bonus: I have 70.25 hours from 7/1-7/8, add today and tomorrow and the 12th-15th and it will be a very nice paycheck!!! Full-time for us is 7.5 hours per day, so I'm way ahead! :cool1: OH YEAH!!!! It's all going towards cruise payment (after mortgage, of course)! :dance3: 180 more days until we sail!!!!!!!!

Holly, I'm glad to see that you are getting $$ for these hours and not having to accumulate persona time...glad you could get that worked out.

I've been hourly for a few years now and just found out that if there is a company holiday during the week is DOES count as 8 hours worked towards your overtime. I had been avoiding doing too much overtime on weeks with holidays, because I thought I'd only be getting straight time instead of time and a half! Too bad I also had a 1/2 day sick day this week (those hours DON'T count). Well, I still have about 3 1/2 hours from last week at time and a half and 2 extra hours straight time this week.

Let's get our cruise funds built up!

Only worked just under 5 hours today. That's enough for a weekend day, and I'll do it again tomorrow. I'd changed my mind and was going to stay off tomorrow, but then I remembered Tyler's 8-year checkup with his pediatrician is Monday afternoon, so I'll miss time then and there's tons of work to be done still. He's had trouble breathing for quite some time, even before his 7-yr checkup last year, but when we mentioned it to the Dr. then, it wasn't happening often, and she said not to worry about it unless it gets worse. It doesn't seem to happen more with exertion or exercise, so I'm not thinking asthma, but it's happening more and more frequently. Even when he's lying down sometimes. I'd recently been thinking it's anxiety-related (as are so many of his other problems), but he's been so relaxed recently, I don't think it's anxiety (and we've even reduced one of his meds). So when I made the appointment, they told me they'll do an extended checkup so they can look into that. I'm not too worried about it because like I said, it doesn't seem to affect any activities, or cause him any distress, but it's bothering him (he says it frustrates him more than anything) and you can noticeably see him trying to take deep breaths more and more often. So.....hopefully she can find out what's up with that. :thumbsup2

Trying very hard to get those funds built up! :thumbsup2 One good thing in that regard is that one of the 3 secretaries in my department is quitting, she gave her 2 weeks notice a week ago, so this is her last week coming up. It will hurt us to be down to 2, because our department makes up about 75% of the firm's income, and business has been booming this year, so we desperately need 3 of us there. Our firm is notorious for holding off on hiring replacements as long as possible to take advantage of not having to pay that one person's salary for a while, so I will definitely be able to work as much as I want. :goodvibes We'll have to limp along during the week when Tyler is with me because I only work 6 hour days when he's with me, but I'll be able to work quite a few hours on Sat and Sun because I'll be able to bring him in with me, and he'll be happy to do so because he'll be able to play Webkinz on one of the computers (since ours at home died, he's been going through serious Webkinz withdrawal, and my laptop is too small to show the whole page on that site). :thumbsup2 Then when he's at his dad's, I'll work until bedtime every day if I can stand it, just telling myself the whole time, it's only temporary, just until the cruise! :yay:

OH YEAH.....forgot to say.....I hope YOU get those cruise funds built up too!!! :woohoo:

Holly, I feel like you gave me your Paxil drugs....I can't stay awake. I have not been taking any new drugs or pain killers....so that doesn't explain it. I sleep all day and all night. I think I might be coming down with something. I feel a little loopy today for no good reason. I'm just exhausted.

OH YEAH.....forgot to say.....I hope YOU get those cruise funds built up too!!! :woohoo:

I only have two more to pay off....LA and Alaska. Then I have to start saving up for expenses on the boat. With so many cruises booked starting in October....I am going to need LOTS of pocket money.

Should I book a dummy ressie on one of my upcoming cruises? I'm thinking about using it for the 2012 Hawaii cruise.

Jackie, check out the other thread. I proposed another idea on how to get from Vancouver to Seattle. Let me know if you're interested.;)
