There seems to be no rhyme nor reason for the upgrades but it is more than annoying to see last minute folk get upgrades. I would send off a nicely worded complaint. Probably won't get you anywhere right now, but might make them think for the future. Not good DCL!

It's Disney, so there must be a logic to it. Not necessarily a logic that would be apparent to the likes of you or I, but a logic nevertheless.

We've never been upgraded for anything.

Has anyone else tried the new Safari 5? I can't believe how much faster it is.

I have it both Macs and on the little idiot windoze netbook. It's even fast on that little pathetic appliance. Much faster than I thought it would be and faster than the other 3 browsers I have on it.

I highly recommend it it.

It also has a new "reader" function that allows you to read articles on pages and removes all the ad junk around it.

Well, let us know the details and we will try!!!

Planet Hollywood at 4pm....Mandy and Mark, me and John, Michelle and Barbara, hopefully Monica, anyone else that's in town and available. Just drinks and lots of laughing. It doesn't matter if you drink water. Please consider joining us. I would love to see you and John.

Neither have we!!! We have a UK Disney friend(well forum based, but we have met her a few times), who seems to be upgraded whenever she goes to Disney. Well, Orlando really to be honest. One year when we were there at the same time, she was booked into Portofino Bay at Universal and was upgraded to a huge 'villa' there. She moved on to the Yacht Club, and yes, she had booked Club Level there, but was upgraded to a Lake view and it was a beautiful. Another 2 visit it happened again.:confused3

I agree with your logic about Disney logic!!!:lmao:

One thing that annoyed me was hearing the last few years when they have overbooked at POP and transferred those people to SSR, then some of those people were upgraded to a 1 bedroom villa, all for the cost of their original POP booking! Now I suppose Disney's logic is that the folk upgraded like it so much they actually buy into DVC, but it sucks for the existing owners I think.

We booked for 12 nights at SSR last time and argued our case for a nice view room because we had booked there for so long. Why don't they think of such things!!?? We had rubbish views each time till then.

Rant over.:lmao:

Michelle and Barbara?? How come she kept that a secret??:lmao: Could be she wanted to see you and not us and you have now spoilt that!!!!:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

I stopped celebrating Mother's Day and Father's Day when I was 8-years old. This happened after I read in the kiddy section of the Sunday newspaper that the holidays were invented by the greeting card to boost sales.

I announced to my parents that I would no longer be manipulated for commercial reasons.

I do recall my mother being asked when I was about 10-years old what I had given her for mother's day. She replied with something like, "He doesn't believe in commercialized holidays."

I have to give my parents credit that they pretty much took my oddness in stride.

There was a BIG plus side of all this for them.

Unlike my peers, I DID NOT have a big celebration/reception for my bar mitzvah. My parents asked me about it, and I told them that I thought is was crass, ostentatious, and undermined the real meaning and value of the event.

Instead, we had a very small, buffet for only my aunts, uncles and cousins, about 15 people. It was held at my aunt's house.

My oddness saved my parents a TON of money.

We love your oddness. It saves Sukie a ton of money every holiday also. Footie PJs and movies for a Hanukkah celebration is far more intimate and it's cheap too! A rare gem you are, our dear Ian.

Thought you might like this. A friend posted it as her status on FB.

'all the fathers who care, have a very Happy Fathers Day. To the ones who are no
longer with us, we are thinking of you, today especially. To the ones who didn't or don't care, may
you have huge feelings of guilt and have a really crap day!!!'

I guess she didn't have a good 'dad' experience, and though knowing it is all sad and all for everyone with this issue, knowing her she would want us to have a laugh.

I don't want an upgrade. It's overrated. I love my deck 5 verandah. I don't want to go any higher up.

I don't want an upgrade onboard either Deb. I book the cabin category we want in the first place. I must remember to ask not to be upgraded, but I don't actually think they would do it for a Cat 5 anyway. If I am GTY then a upgrade wouldn't be so bad as I haven't been able to choose the position I wanted anyway.

Happy Birthday Dear John

So that's why the American Mother's Day doesn't coincide with Mothering Sunday in the UK!!! I didn't realise it was a Hallmark invention. Ours is usually the 4th Sunday in Lent rather than during May...

Richard is such a fab Dad (not a given in this world) that, even if Father's Day didn't exist, I would have made the day up so we could show him our appreciation...

I love that attitude - that's pretty much how I feel about weddings. Ours was a low-key and very cheap event whilst many of our friends cost their parents ££££s - guess which couple are the only ones still together...? A friend of mine has just spent £35k+ on her daughter's wedding!!! I said I'd want a money back guarantee if the union didn't work out... ;)

Thanks Deb. We are waiting for our son and family to come and then chocolate cake for all!!!

Oh my goodness, $35k+?????:scared1::scared1::scared1::scared1: I'm so glad all our children got married before all this came into fashion! Then there is the honeymoon which has to be somewhere ridiculously expensive and exotic too. Our kids were just happy to be off on holiday with their new spouse!!! One went with the caravan to the Lake District, one up to Scotland, and the other drove over to France. However, the one that went to France has since married again, and that was an expensive occasion(not for us;)) and they went off to The Maldives and Dubai on honeymoon!!!

For us non-techies...what is this? instead of internet explorer?

I probably won't be able to be there at 4pm....damn work! :rotfl: Can you make it later? I maybe able to get off at 530pm, which would mean I could be there about 6pm. :confused3

Deborah - I've never been upgraded either...7 cruises. I'm honestly just happy to get on the ship.

I'm off shortly to Will's house - Mickey's working today. We're going to be watching a movie (not sure which) & hope to go swimming.

Just talked to my Dad for Father's Day. Now off to call my brother-in-law.

Hope everyone has a fab day!

for my sweetie, and all of you

I have'nt given you any of these in a long while

Have fun Holly.

Oh, I did! It was a Jimmy Buffet night/fundraiser for Hospice, great band playing Jimmy Buffet songs, fun night! I was home by 11 though because the mosquitos were tearing me up (the event was outside under a big tent). :headache:
