Hope it doesn't get too stormy Deb.
I think taking Ray out for dinner is a nice gift for him. Make a fuss, and leave it at that!!!
For John - well, he isn't your dad, but you can buy him a gift for just being John and the fact that you love him, and that can be anytime, not just Father's Day, so don't worry!!
No special anything here for Father's Day, though it is John's birthday too, so I might get him a cake.We have all the cruises etc to have as our birthday gifts this year, and, to be honest, are just so blessed and grateful to be healthy and fit after this last year, and particularly just now as our really nice neighbour, aged 51 has just been diagnosed with terminal bowel cancer.
It has reached all sections of his liver, so they won't operate and will give him chemo to give him some quality of life. We are so sad. He came back from his vacation in May with diarrhoea, but presumed it was something from the vacation, so left it a while. He just went to the Dr's to see if he had one of those parasites, and this is what it turned up. We just never know do we?
Sending hugs for your neighbor... hope the treatments work...
Mom and I are on our way to Jersey this afternoon... I have a Drs appt tomorrow and miracles of miracles... Michael is home...So I imagine we will be having at the very least a business meeting... keep all your fingers crossed (still...
) and it may soon be over...

.It's not summer here today. A storm is looming over us and it's very dark.
This Sunday is Father's Day. I had ordered and paid for a sword that John wanted to add to his collection. Yesterday I called to say that I haven't gotten it yet and was told that it stopped being manufactured. Now I have no gift for John. We're going out to dinner with Ray on Sunday. I don't have a gift for him either. After a while, you just don't know what to get anymore.
Anybody else have any special Father's Day plans?
So sorry about your neighbor. I lost my friend Brian to cancer when he was only 52. It really does put a perspective on life. So make sure you get John a huge cake for his birthday and have all the kids and grandkids over to help him eat it. Every single day matters.![]()

This is so sad, and he's so young.
Reading it did put things into perspective for me, especially during these dark days at work that I'm facing. I have to remind myself that no matter what happens I'm still fortunate.
My heart goes out to him.
This last bout of sickness made me concerned, because I think the walking pneumonia was only a manifestation of what was going on emotionally. I think the stress and unhappiness finally physically manifested itself, which is very scary.
I am slowly coming to realize that having one's family and health trumps everything else.
I buried my dad this morning...
He wanted to be with his parents. My brothers weren't interested so I did it. Just me and mom. I didn't think I would get as upset as I did. I had intended to stay until they finished at the cemetery, but I couldn't. Mom read the 23rd psalm. At least it was a nice day out.
We just wonder how people deal with being told news like this. We have a faith, so that would help, but not nearly enough. Our neighbour is busy decorating the hall, stairs and landing. It has needed doing since they moved in 12 years ago! I guess he needs something to do and also get things ship shape for his wife.
I will indeed get John a large chocolate cake!!!
On a brighter note, another neighbour has just had a little girl. She has 2 young boys, so of course it is wonderful to have a little princess. he was 2 weeks late and has a gorgeous mop of black hair. Mum said she thinks baby was late because she was doing her hair!! She is called Rosie, which is what our eldest would have been called if he had been a girl. Well he would have been named Rosemary Joy, but no doubt would have been called Rosie.
It is funny how we don't move our chosen, unused, names onto the next child. She was a girl, but we didn't call her Rosie, we called her Carolyn. She would have been Philip if a boy. Our third was a boy, but we called him David, not Philip. Strange.Useless in formation for today that!

Not "useless" -- interesting!
I have noticed that too. For us we were quite certain of boy names each time and had no good ideas for girl names as if it did not matter, and it did not. We got two boys.

Our daughter had 2 boys when she fell(very surprisingly) pregnant. The boys were very hard work not quite 3 and 1 & 1/2!!! She never expected to have a girl, even when she was told she would have twins, though did choose a girl's name. She had 2 girls, so split the chosen first and middle names, then had to think of new middle names.

What a precious story! I cannot imagine having four so close in age.

I like your story of the kids names
Molly was supposed to be Wilson and yup we used it in round two
He is named after my dad and I really wanted to use it - perhaps I would have even named a 2nd daughter Wilson - not likey - I'm too traditional - if he was a she then she would have been Victoria
blah blah blah...
