Deb, wow that is interesting story

because I always open on 25th Dec since I was little right through that why I passed over to my kids to open on 25th Dec every year...

Exactly. What you learned as a child....you pass on the same tradition to your kids.

When Sandi and the boys lived here and the boys were little, they opened presents on Christmas eve with us. We kept our tradition.

I love all the pictures that my mom had of me and my brother on Christmas eve with sleep in our eyes and full of wonder at the sight of all the presents under the tree. It was like we were dreaming, but it was real. Those memories are so very special to me.

Excuse me.. CAN YOU PLEASE KEEP IT DOWN... I'M TRYING TO SLEEP...

Leave you people alone for a couple of hours and look at what you do... :sad2: :sad2: :sad2:

btw... I think I had the traditional "Federal Holiday" Breakfast today of Stouffers Mac & Cheese...

It was rather... Federal... ish... sort of...

Ok... it was warm and mushy and I just might follow it up with a traditional plate of whatever I can find in the fridge later...

Sorry, shall I put it louder???:laughing:

when I was little we had presents the 25th in the morning....followed 6 nights later with something from the 3 Kings.

Later on, we had our stockings the evening of the 24th then gifts the next morning. Later still we did everything on the 24th....also to be able to sleep in :)

I love learning everyone's different traditions from when they were young. Very fascinating.

Has anyone seen Marilyn around today? I hope she's resting, but I need her local phone number. Does anyone have it? I have to provide it to a delivery service so that they deliver it properly. Enough said. ;)

I found her. John got her for me. He's so wonderful.....Marilyn's John....not my John.....well he's wonderful too. I guess if your name is John you can't be all that bad. I know a few good ones.

Sure... she's in the hospital and you deliver something... :goodvibes

I'M in bed with the flu and I'm still waiting for my bunch of dead daisys... :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

(I AM kidding Deb... Love you but you know how expensive it is to get dead ones at this time of year??? Ok... forget my garden...)

It's now raining and rather gloomy outside.

We ventured out for a little errand, to Office Depot to get Sukie boxes of hanging folders so he could file his periodicals.

Do the holidays get any better than this?

did you get him green hanging folders? Those are not the official colors of the Federal Holiday you know...

Ian - got your vm - wish I could talk but we can't talk on cell phones at our desk. Want me to call you on my lunch break? I go btwn 130p-230p today.

OK heres a quick one for the ladys

John, I LOVE these! Thanks so much!

Dianne and I are ready to go to Claim Jumper and them to meet Peg & Jose to see Up In The Air. Tonight is pizza and game night!

HAPPY BONGO CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!

(but John... you need to get one of the tile loungers with everyone's name on it...)

Merry Christmas everyone!!!

Been busy traveling and getting ready for Christmas so haven't read but the last couple of pages, What'e wrong with Marilyn? Sorry some of you are sick. Enjoyed getting the cards from everyone that sent them.

Monica I sent you a pm.

I'm giving Betsy the Alaska cruise as a surprise but can't decide whether to do it this Christmas or next. Any suggestions?

except if you and your spouse have different traditions :rolleyes1

In my family we open on gift on Xmas eve (it's always the jammies, how did mom know???) then we get our stocking and gifts from Santa and each other on Xmas morning. The stocking would take a while to keep us busy, so it wasn't tooooo early.

In his family they open all on Xmas Eve. And get this...they open one gift at a time the oldest person starts first. Can you imagine that last and youngest child had to wait thru all the others and their gifts to even open one :scared1::scared1::scared1:

We have a kid free for all :woohoo::woohoo::woohoo: tearing them open and throwing the wrappings and the ribbons everywhere :yay::yay::yay:

Our kids follow my families rule now ;) Even today we pick up gifts from our ILs and they told the kids to wait and open them tommorrow.

Speaking of ILs My MIL is having to have a third hip surgery :sad2: Her break is not healing. She is going to a specialist at Stanford now. Surgery is set for 1/7 Pretty sad situtation. She has a 25% chance of having a limp after all is done and said. Seriously considering mal practice suit against the 1st (& 2nd same) surgeon :sad2:

(but John... you need to get one of the tile loungers with everyone's name on it...)

STAY OFF MY LOUNGERS

Donna,

Though we don't often "chat," you and Harry are often in our thoughts.

Congrats on the good news and the engagements.

Regarding Las Vegas, I'll share a secret with you, I had never had a desire to go there either. Gambling holds no attraction for me, and I had always imagined it to be a rather tawdry place.

But, I went with a friend a few years back and found that I really loved it. I just sort of relaxed my judgement and had a good time, appreciating it for what it is.

Harry and I think of you and Sukie often too. In fact, I think of you both every time Chicago is mentioned on the news, which seems to be quite often. And if it is a weather story I pretty much know what is heading our way.:goodvibes

As for Las Vegas, I will take your advice and appreciate it for what it is. If nothing else it will be an interesting new experience. And since we weren't planning a vacation for this year it will be a nice much needed diversion. I will send Harry off to a casino without me. I would ruin his fun. I cannot stand to waste money. I will stay by the pool and we will both be happy..:thumbsup2

Donna
