I went MIA from the computer this weekend, but had a great time.
We went to Prince George for the weekend and got the Christmas shopping done. I had a girls night on Friday and went shopping with my sister, Ken's sister and Baby Emily (6months old). She was a sweetie, and her mom is so funny as she is quite nervous to let the baby out of her hands and sight. :lmao: Saturday Ken & I went shopping while the kids visited with their aunt & then grandparents. :thumbsup2 Sunday a bit more shopping before we headed home. Kaleigh went to a year end party for her soccer and Santa was there. Unfortunately, she ended up not feeling well and having a fever for the evening. Today is a Daddy-day for the kids, and its so cold -33C (-27F) this morning, that we kept Shaelyn home from school. Wish I could have stayed home all day with them, but I'm here at work.

:grouphug: to all who need them.

Deb - I totally understand your feelings about your father. I have no contact with my father and occasionally wonder if I should open that door again. My parents split up when I was 10 and he was horrible for making efforts to see my sister and I. After a few years he just quit coming around, and instead every few years would initiate contact with me through a third party (At 16, it was through my boss; in grade 12, through the school principal; when I started the job in Quesnel, he sent flowers to my workplace on my birthday). The first couple times I would go see him after he'd initiate things, but he never went anywhere with it. He did tell me that he had found it easier to pretend my sister & were dead than to actually attempt to have a relationship. I gave up on him. I'm blessed with a wonderful mother, and in my teens I actually gave her mother's day and father's day gifts a few years; after all, she was doing it all, she deserved all the credit :thumbsup2

Shannon :grouphug: I'm sorry you had that experience with your father. I am surprised that there are so many of us that had this same experience :sad2: Your mom certainly did a great job being mom and dad though  What a thoughtful teenager you were to honour her at both mother's and father's day :goodvibes

Many of us have seen that Marilyn is in the hospital. Here is John's post from FB:

Marilyn has been admitted into the surgery ward in Harrogate hospital. She is comfortable now and is on morphine every 4 hours. The NHS have been fantastic. I am not sure how long she will be in as they are doing more tests. Thank you all for your concern. She is a tough old boot as we say in the uk so I am sure she will be fine. She even has her own private room.

Let's try to keep updating his posts here as well for those of us not on FB.

Nan

Shannon - sorry to hear about your dad. What a shameful thing to think that his children were not alive :sad2: You are right your mom and dad did do both jobs :thumbsup2  Hope Shay is better soon

Oh no :sad1: Hugs and get well soon wishes Marilyn :grouphug:

Nan, thanks for letting us know here, and do keep us posted please! Did she end up with complications from her cold? I know she was feeling pretty awful with it :sad2:

Did anyone guess Urinary Tract Infection on top of everything else??? :sad2: :sad2: :sad2:

I'm going back to bed... I'm sure I'm toxic from all the meds... if you see a glow coming from the north east... That'll be my house... who needs Xmas lights after all the scans I've had...

:grouphug::grouphug::grouphug: Michelle, enough all ready! I hope you feel better after your sleep

I'm going to be getting ready to leave for Mrs. Bush's soon. I have to be out of here in one hour. John and the kid are still not back yet. He's been gone for a good hour already. It must not be going very easily. Well if all else fails, I told him to call AAA and request a special tow. We have a Plus card so we're covered.

Deb, how did your visit go yesterday? Did you have a fun afternoon?

And what about the car :confused3 I hope John was able to get it out, all in one piece!

Another mouse this morning. Fortunately, I ended up buying traps that are enclosed so I don't have to see it. I heard it scrabbling around inside. YUCKY!!!! Just when I think they're gone, I find another......every time.

:grouphug: Holly, enough all ready for you too :headache: Maybe it's time to call in some help :confused3

Glad you had a fun and productive weekend Shannon! Hope Kaleigh is feeling better

-33C :scared1: I know it's been even colder around Edmonton, but isn't it more unusual to be quite this cold where you are  My son's girlfriend can't believe how warm it is here right now, a balmy 4C at 11:00pm :thumbsup2 She's originally from Newfoundland and has spent the last 11 yrs near Edmonton, so this is VERY mild for her. I have tried to warn her we will get cold and snow sooner or later ;)

Well, I survived my three late nights at work and can enjoy a day off tomorrow :cool1:

I have a friend coming to visit in the morning, so I better get to bed so I can get up early to wrap her Xmas present and straighten up the house! Tammy(my son's gf) vacuumed, cooked dinner and baked cookies today :thumbsup2

In the afternoon, I'll be going to the courthouse with my son, 1st of what will probably be many, many visits over the future custody arrangements for Serenity. Please wish us well!

Later, I should probably go and try to finish my Xmas shopping, but I expect I'll be worn out again! I have to get up very early for work on Wednesday, so I may just opt to try to get all of my shopping done on my next day off which is Friday! I don't think I've ever had a year that I was so unprepared for Xmas

Nan... any idea of what happened??????? :confused3 :confused3

no idea, just read it on FB

Oh no :sad1: Hugs and get well soon wishes Marilyn :grouphug:

I will Kathe I remembered you are not on FB and would want to know.

Here is the afternoon update:

I have poped home to eat (had a mars bar for brunch LOL). Left her resting and feeling quite a bit better. The problem seems to be her Pancreas, hence the intense pain. I have passed on all messages to her so thank you for them. If there is more news tonight when I get back again I will do another post 10.30 UK (5.30 pm Eastern).

Did anyone guess Urinary Tract Infection on top of everything else??? :sad2: :sad2: :sad2:

I think you sent that nasty thing to this coast, I'm afraid I have one coming on too  It's been years since I've had one. I'm blaming it on having to go to work in my clients office instead of being able to work from home  Dang it :headache:

The saga finally ended on a good note. John and the kid put on their theigh high rubber boots and used cargo cables and ropes and went back to the tree farm in the Beast. They tied up Suzie....the Suzuki....and went to pull her out with the Beast, but the owner brought the tractor back to pull Suzie out. With John's rope and cable ties, John said she came out easily and only had a flat tire because they snapped off the valve. The engine started right up, no problems running and driving her. She went back to Newark today for work with John and the kid, just like any other day. WE GOT LUCKY. I said many thanks because I know it was a miracle that all is well.

Then we went to Mrs. Bush's and had a good time.....caroling, cookies, punch and coffee, pictures with santa. Naturally, I forgot my camera. Mrs. Bush's employees took pictures of all the residents. I bought a recipe book and a gingerbread ornament for the tree. It smells like cinnamon. Ray was happy that we were there for him. John was able to go with me and I was very happy that we went.

That's really cold Shannon. Hope Shaelyn feels better soon.

I LOVE the idea that you honored your mother for being both a mom and dad to you. I feel the same exact way about my mom.

Deborah - the ornament with all our names was bought and then I just wrote all the names on it! I really like have our family tree ornament on our Christmas tree!:goodvibes

Deb - I've got both the Wii Fit and the Jillian Michaels game. If you haven't already ordered it, I don't recommend Jillian's game. It is not nearly as good as the WiiFit. The WiiFit is much better at giving good instructions and your person on the screen better mimics what you are actually doing. I found Jillian's quite frustrating to figure out (Ken too) and we are both used to video games. The Wii is the main machine. The WiiFit is the balance board with game. Now there is the WiiFit Plus, which I think comes with the balance board now, if not its About $20 on its own, and is the upgrade for the WiiFit. The WiiFit Plus is on my Christmas list and hopefully Ken or Santa will be bringing it for me.

Thanks so much for that info Shannon. I'll be sure not to order the Jillian Michaels game. I'll just get the Wii and the Wii Fit Plus. That should do it.

I'm out of time and must get back to work! I'll be back again later :goodvibes

Thanks Nan for posting this. I didn't know. I don't go on FB everyday so I didn't see it. I hope Marilyn recovers quickly.

Kathe, good luck with the custody arrangements and the courthouse visits. I hope it's easy and quick and that you get everything that you want for Serenity.

Some years are just like that. I remember the first year that Sandi and two toddlers came to live with us around Thanksgiving. We moved into a bigger appartment on December 1st. Christmas presents that year got handed out in shopping bags. It was the best we could do at the time.

John has updated on Marilyn...

John is posting this. For any friends of Marilyn who are not on my facebook account, Marilyn was taken to hospital early yesterday. She had severe stomach pain and vomiting. She is being very well taken care of now.

Hopefully he will update again later... good thoughts though.. :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug:

& on a lighter note... I don't think we should NOT take this opportunity...(you know who you are... ;)) to over take her score on certain farm related games that she plays...   :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: (otherwise I'm likely to bribe John for her sign on and play them for her!!!) (hey... she's on Morphine...I'm on Vicodin... this could be interesting...)

He continues... over several posts...

She is on morphine most of the time so is mostly out of pain and drowsy or sleeping. As her symptoms were close to the vomiting bug going around here, I was most impressed how quickly they found out it was her pancreas.

I expect her to be in hospital a few days, but who knows. If you want any further updates, please ask to be my facebook friend. I will post any changes there. BTW this is after a 2 week traumatic Crown Court jury trial she was on, then ill for a week (unrelated I guess). So our Christmas preparations are non existent a...s yet. Unfortunately Marilyn asked for a notebook so I am expecting a much longer list of jobs.

The 1st one yesterday was 'clean the house'. I cannot see any dirt anywhere so I think I will get away with not doing that one!

I bet you ANYTHING she's gonna ask for a laptop next... :sad2:

And as for me... you can tell I'm still keeping my Vampire hours...

Didn't make it to PT yesterday... almost passed out from the pain on the way... mom drove home.

A decision on whether or not I will be going to TX for Xmas will be made by Friday... I have no idea how I will do 5 hours of flying time between 2 flights and a layover in this kind of pain... but hopefully the meds will kick in.

MOM is going... and if I don't make it I'm making lasagna for dinner - anyone want in? :goodvibes

John is doing a great job keeping us updated. I hope Marilyn heals quickly and can go home soon. In the meantime, Sweet Morphine Mickey Dreams to Marilyn. You're in our prayers.

Hugs Shell. It doesn't sound good for you.

Set a place for me at your virtual table. I'd be with you if I could. My mom always made lasagna for Christmas dinner. Good memories.

We had some excitement here already today....at 5:30 am actually. Both Mickey and Minnie got out of their tanks. Mickey was easily caught and put back. Minnie on the other hand, took a huge bite out of John's finger when he went to grab her and put her back. She panicked and attacked. Poor John. Nothing like a little adrenaline first thing when you wake up in the morning. Works better than coffee.

For those of you interested, the window opened up and I just booked my hotel room for Turkey Day 2010. I'm in the Crown Plaza at the airport. Here's the linky:

https://secure.ichotelsgroup.com/h/d/cp/1/en/hotel/chiok

Since they have an indoor pool, the pool party is at my hotel. Kathe are you getting a room there too? Are you bunking with Monica?

I booked from Wednesday 11/24 for 4 nights, checking out on Sunday 28th.

Just for Marilyn, this is how it looks outside today....it reminds me of London Fog....so Marilyn, I'm thinking of you.
