Tyler is now officially a big brother!!!

His dad called me right after she was born, around 6pm, before he even got to hold her!

She's tiny: just 5lbs 5 oz and is just 3 days early. Mom had a very short labor and only had to push 45 minutes. I told him I'd like to call her a witch with a "b", but didn't want to ruin the celebrating! :rotfl2: He wanted us to come up to the hospital to see little Victoria right away, but I told him that although Tyler's fever is gone, he's just getting over a viral infection and his dad surprisingly said, "No thanks, we'll wait a couple more days". :thumbsup2 Victoria has the same pediatrician as Tyler, so I told dad I actually don't know how long he'll be contagious and to just ask the Dr. when she comes up there to check out the baby tomorrow (at least I'm assuming she'll go up there to check her out).

I WANT TO SEE THE BABY!!!! I know that sounds weird, but I'm excited too! I wasn't fully sure how I'd feel about it but am happy for Tyler. :goodvibes

CONGRATULATIONS to Tyler for being a big brother. Does he mind that he has a sister instead of a brother?

What lousy timing that he's sick just when she's born and he can't run right up to the hospital to see her so little and new. Hopefully it won't be for long. I hope Tyler gets better real soon.

I wish I knew!!! Went to sleep and woke up straight away, and that was that!! At least it doesn't happen too often these days.

Going to try again soon.
Oh, that's frustrating. I hope you manage to get some sleep soon.

Way back when they found out she's a girl, he was bummed out at first, but then didn't care. He's just more focused on the idea that he's a brother, not whether he's brother to a brother or sister. :thumbsup2 But......he wanted a brother or sister when he was 3 or 4, now he realizes he won't be able to play with her like he could have if they were closer in age. He wasn't as excited knowing she's born, as he was knowing she was coming. He told me tonight, "I wish she wasn't here now" and I asked him why, he told me "because babies are boring, they can't do anything for a long time". So I told him he should be happy because he now has one more person to love! He insists he won't love her, but I hope he's wrong! I think he might just be nervous about not knowing how his life will change. Change has always been tough for him, but at least if its rough for him, it's only 3 days that he's there each week and can have a break from her when he's with me the rest of the week.

YAHOO!!!! Chuck just called me again. He's going to email me some pictures RIGHT NOW! :cool1: I can't wait to see if she looks like what Tyler looked like when he was just born. I actually think all newborns are ugly, sorry, I know that's mean, but they just are when they first come out. ;) Even Tyler was NOT cute for the first couple weeks.

Ohh just wait until he sees her...:lovestruc and every time he goes to stay at his dad's he's gonna notice something new she does and you can tell him that he was the same way... (and then tell him stories about the first time he smiled, etc....)

There are lots of reasons to own a home, not just for the benefit of living it it ;)

HA!! Yep and then there are the added costs they don't tell you about when you first look at buying a home. Suddenly I needed things like shovels and rakes and lawn mowers. My time was suddenly taken up with things they call "household repairs". When the fence in the back fell down, I had take my weekend time and get it fixed instead of just calling the landlord. Not to mention suddenly I had to buy tools for all of that - hammers, nails, wood, wheelbarrows.

And when the pilot light goes out and it needs a new coil, I had to go and get that fixed out of my pocket.

And don't even get me started on when the wife decides it is time to fix the kitchen .....

Nope, Shannon and I have been in our house for just over 10 years now, and I am still not sold that it was a better option than renting... Especially whenever I look at it and see that there is work to be done (reminder to self, I need to fix the deck on the shed pretty quick...) :sad2:

All the things you mentioned, all the things that need to be done to houses and yards, really make me wish I had a man around. I have no idea how to do any of it and am dreading the first thing that needs to be done. :scared1:

Congrats to Tyler on being a big brother.

And from one big brother (I have 2 younger sisters) to another, don't forget with being a big brother there come BIG responsibilities!! Don't treat them lightly. ;)

As a man (ok quit your chuckling right now dammit!!), believe me when I tell you, you don't need a man to do those things. You can learn to do them jsut as easily if not better than a man. Most of the time those things get done around the house by Shannon and I collaborating. Not because of any terrific "insight" I as a man have. In fact Shannon has used more power tools than I have, hands down. My father was never one of those "handy men" who knew how to fix things. I remember getting a bike for Christmas one year and I had to put it together because my father didn't know how (not to mention I had to borrow some tools from a friend).

The internet is your friend. So are some of those home reno stores that offer free classes for DIY's. It's not a guy exclusive thing...

Plus once you figure it all out, c'mon up to Canada and do it for my house!! ;)

:thumbsup2 I'll let him know!

Yeah, I know, I'm just not mechanically inclined. My dad gave me a great book full of DIY info for just about anything you can think of with a house, but I read it and it's all Greek to me. I'm better off paying somebody to do whatever comes up. :thumbsup2

But we enjoyed watching you toil for months and do a BEAUTIFUL job on the Kitchen. :thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

I call Mr. Handyman... they come and fix just about anything...

OK, so I can't say the baby is cute, because all newborns look kind of yucky to me, but I can say she has a much flatter nose than Tyler and her eyes are completely different shape, but maybe when she gets past the newborn funky looking stage, I might see similarities.

But then again, Tyler was the cutest baby I've ever seen, so it's hard for me to compare! ;)

Got to get to bed after Primetime is over. Goodnight all! :cloud9:

We are having fun but not getting anything done. Everything is behind and I feel like I'm working or playing all the time. I need to rest ;) Tomorrow we are going to go to a lake that has water slides. I can count on one hand how many days we have been home since the vacation started. Even on the weekends we are busy. The kids haven't seen any of their friends and I feel like the summer is almost over

Wasn't it last summer that the kids kept saying they were bored! This year you are on the go all the time, so do you ever hear "I'm bored" now? :confused3
;):lmao:

Tyler is now officially a big brother!!!

Big Brother Tyler! :thumbsup2
Holly, he might not be too interested in her for a while, but one day he'll enjoy having somebody to show how to do things! :thumbsup2

Thanks Ken....so nice I had to post them twice.

I especially like the ones of Shannon resting and letting Shaelyn do all the work. :thumbsup2

Yup, she was a great paddler for 2 minutes at a time! :lmao:Then it was back to mom :goodvibes

That was most of the time!!!

:rotfl::rotfl: yeah right! :rotfl::rotfl:

And now that I'm checking on the computer at home instead of work, I can see Ian and Ken's work! :thumbsup2

And now I'm off to an early night. I just picked up the last Harry Potter book yesterday since it finally came out in paperback, and I'm off to curl up in bed and read before sleeping!

Good night folks!
