As a man (ok quit your chuckling right now dammit!!), believe me when I tell you, you don't need a man to do those things. You can learn to do them jsut as easily if not better than a man. Most of the time those things get done around the house by Shannon and I collaborating. Not because of any terrific "insight" I as a man have. In fact Shannon has used more power tools than I have, hands down. My father was never one of those "handy men" who knew how to fix things. I remember getting a bike for Christmas one year and I had to put it together because my father didn't know how (not to mention I had to borrow some tools from a friend).

The internet is your friend. So are some of those home reno stores that offer free classes for DIY's. It's not a guy exclusive thing...

Plus once you figure it all out, c'mon up to Canada and do it for my house!! ;)

Ya I have to agree with Ken, you don't "need" a man at all.

I bought my house @ 26 years old, on my own.

Quite a big deal in the Bay Area in 1990.

It was a fixer upper and it's been a the best thing I ever could have done, both financially and personally.

My dad always tinkered around our house, so I just followed in his foot steps.

When Paul and I met (2+ years after I had the house), he had never even held a hammer. I taught, forced, encouraged him to learn how to be a plumber. I think to this day that is his most hated task in the world, but knowing how to do stuff makes it easy to decide how and what to fix should something break. He says he is glad that he can work and pay someone else to do it now. But when times are tight we can for sure take care of it ourselves and that is a good thing to know.

Excuse Me...

MORNING LADIES... :flower3: :flower3:

We're home again today. Tyler's fever came back last night and was higher early this morning. It's gone again now, but could come back when the Tylenol wears off, so he's home one more day to rest.

I showed him the baby pictures and he said, "Eeeeww, she looks weird". :rotfl2: I told him all babies look sort of weird the day they're born and that she'll look different soon. :thumbsup2

My credit union is giving away $100,000.00 and a bunch of smaller prizes monthly, and you get an entry into the drawing for every $25 deposited. Fingers crossed for the big one! I could pay off our house (and have lots leftover) and never have a house payment again! That would be wonderful! :cloud9: Well, I can sure dream about it.

Dreaming is good! Hopefully Tyler feels a lot better tomorrow :goodvibes

I bring greetings, salutations, and an extra special hello to Nan from Michelle!:dance3::banana:

And tell everyone MICHELLE said hello... (especially NAN...)

He feels better already. I think he needed this one last day of rest. The fever never came back today, so he can go to daycare tomorrow. :thumbsup2 Perfect timing, because he was really worried about missing the weekly field trip. It's usually on Wednesdays, but this week it was changed to tomorrow for some reason. Good thing! His appetite still isn't anywhere near normal and his head still hurts a little, but no more fever, so he'll be fine. His dad's going to pick him up from daycare tomorrow, so he'll get to see the baby then. The pediatrician says it will be fine as long as the fever has been gone for 24 hours.

Tyler's dad stopped over for a few minutes just to see him today when he briefly left the hospital, and Tyler was able to give him the gifts for the baby that he picked out today. :thumbsup2 I was really glad his dad wanted to see Tyler because that tells Tyler that he's not being replaced by the new baby....and his dad told him during his visit today that even though there's a new baby, Tyler is still his number one. Very sweet. :goodvibes

...This cracked me up....I PM'd a Tortolan DISer to say that I learned about their interest in the Champagne Girls so please provide your email address so that I can contact you and get more information.

He writes back: my email address is ....... and my wife is ....... and I like champagne also. Are guys allowed?

I left out names and email addresses on purpose for privacy reasons. But is it me or does this guy want to be a Champagne Girl? If so, how do I very nicely say no. John said I should just send him the photo from our cruise and say, are you sure? hahaha.

.....Bubba.....I may need to borrow that pink wig!

I'm glad Tyler's feeling better today. What a good thing for Tyler's dad to do today.

Tyler will get used to having a little sister in his own time. They will love each other for the rest of their lives.

It's probably a good thing that the baby was not a boy.....brothers are so competitive while brothers and sisters are very protective. And who knows, they may have a second child and it could be a brother for Tyler.

btw, Tyler's baby picture is perfect. He looks like he should be on a commercial....very beautiful.:thumbsup2

Oh no, they won't have any more. Tyler's dad told me a while back that he didn't even want this new one and is having a vasectomy (but his wife doesn't know that). He's unhappy that he'll be almost retired when Victoria graduates from high school and is just not happy about trying to find the energy for another child. Plus, since they're both in their 40s, it was awfully hard for them to conceive, they had to go to a fertility doctor for alternat methods. They're done.
