I can't IMAGINE not wanting to be with my babies (even though one of them is 17 years old!!!!) on ANY holiday. Sigh....

Some people shouldn't be parents....

Tyler's snoring, so I'd better go hide Easter eggs while I know he's sound asleep. Have to be extra sneaky this year because he asked me if the Easter bunny is just parents. I told him no, of course not. He asked "Are you sure? Because it wouldn't be right for you to lie to me." He told me he's sure his Easter basket at his dad's came from his dad because the candy in it is the same as some open bags of candy in the basement. So I told him, "You're probably right. Your dad knows you won't be at his house on Easter, so he just wanted to make sure you still had an Easter basket at his house". Tyler bought it and now he thinks his dad is sooooo thoughtful. I'll have to be sure to let dad know what I told Tyler for when Tyler tells him what I said.

So.....we have eggs he brought from his dad's that he decorated today for the Easter bunny to hide for him to find in the morning. BUT......when Tyler finds those, he won't recognize the 15 plastic fillable eggs that will have mysteriously appeared that only the Easter bunny could have brought since we certainly don't have any like that in our house. (They're in my trunk!)

Ethan told Brooke that the Easter bunny stole the peanut butter and she said she was going to tell his wife on his wedding day that he thought the Easter bunny stole the peanut butter OK here is the sad part. He said "when I get married, I won't believe in the Easter bunny"

Tracy, My MIL never let my husband celebrate any holidays without her. It was very difficult. I remember one Mothers Day she asked me what I was fixing her for dinner that day(she had no clue that I was a mother as well)...my parents never saw us on Thanksgiving or Christmas. She is gone now and so is my dad....

Jon's mom is the same way and it is hard. The last part of your post makes me wonder what you meant though. Are you happy they came around because your parents didn't or not?

Yeah, as much as I love my kids, my feeling is that all bets are off once they get married. I refuse to put that kind of pressure on my kids or their spouses. I hope they'll be able to do some holidays with us, but honestly, if they can't I'll probably just book a Disney cruise and hang out with all the great DISers!

It is 7 which is late for us but Jon got his new BBQ and he decided to slow cook everything He looked like Venetia when she got that Easter basket

If it's in Feb then it should be a little cooler I would think, but who knows, the equator may be that hot all the time.

I think I meant that once Don's mom passed, all the pressure was off and holidays got so much easier.

Don's mom and dad lived about 8 miles from us and mom mom and dad lived about 30 miles away. My MIL would not let us "share the day"...."you can spend next weekend with your family"....

Frank is so much more relaxed....as a matter of fact he has a DATE for Easter and we are going to a friends house for the day.

If you're cool enough, they'll want to be with you. We love my parents but Jon's are over bearing and get mad when we say no and that is too much for us. It was really hard when we were young and they would ask us to go somewhere like Medievil Times and we couldn't afford it but they would tell us it was just an excuse not to go. So we would charge it which got us in a lot of trouble.

Whats for dinner, we just finished pork chops that I cooked in the bag with green sauce. It was yummy.
