Anyone know what the significance of this statue is?

Something along the lines of Smoky the Bear?

Ok how bout the original Winnie the Pooh? It's the only Disney bear I can think of, and this being a disney board, that must play into is some how.

I thought that too....either that or that the Canadian Mounties are friends of everyone - human and animal alike :goodvibes

DING DING DING!!!

We have a winner...

That is a statue at the Winnipeg Zoo of Canadian Lieutenant Harry Colebourn and his bear cub "Winnie" named after his home town of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada.

The bearcub went overseas with the Lieutenant during WWI and was donated to the London Zoo (after first being the mascot of the The Fort Garry Horse regiment).

It was at the London Zoo where a certain A. A. Milne and his son Christopher encountered "Winnie" and the rest is history...

Here is your prize:

The nice thing about lazy mornings is I can get caught up on photoshop manipulations ... (photoshopping is so much easier to type :rolleyes1)

How about created using Photoshop.

I gave you a warning. Don't make me do it again, lest this deterorate into a full blown international crisis.

I am an American you know, and therefore am enforcing my god given right to police the world and every aspect in it. (While never having actually set foot outside of my own county).

Whilst it is obvious most bad posts have gone, I do get the drift. Why do people get that way. Seems like a little clique was on there and some feelings got hurt. I loved the comment about a thread not needing a queen. Seems like it did have one who everyone bowed down to. I hope the new thread is better.

are you talking about me again :sad2:;) thanks for the link and ::yes:: next time you should provide it without being asked geez who do you think you are dealing with here????

Nan and evil queen

(and I like photoshopping) and I totally understood it upon reading it the first time. (I think Ian is a little slow some times on the techo lingo)

? for you Techie people....

where is a good place to buy a new battery for my laptop? (I have a Toshiba).

TIA!

Just popping in for a minute today, and I am NOT a Techie, by any means, but I did want to say that I purchased a new battery for my Compaq laptop through Amazon. It was one of their "marketplace sellers" and the name of the seller was Smart Parts USA.

It's a generic replacement, not OEM, but I've had the battery since last October and it's working just great! I think I paid about $60 for it which was half of what a new one from HP was going to cost. I know sometimes people have problems when they don't use OEM parts, but I've never had any problems. I also bought a new power cord for it from another marketplace seller and it's going strong also.

Just my experience FWIW!

Good morning everyone - I'm here at work on my last 830a-530p shift :sad2: Back to the 1015a-715pm shift on Monday. Little bummed about that - oh well, at least I have my job :)

Spent some time chatting on FB last night with a dear, dear friend from HS - we lost track of each other for YEARS and she found me on FB (thru a mutual friend).

My vacation starts in 2 weeks!! :yay::woohoo::dance3::cool1::banana:

Need to run errands tomorrow - bank, oil change, shoe shopping and :laundy: Also have 2 dvds to watch from Netflix - the 3rd dvd in the Bramwell season 1 series & Something the Lord Made.

Weighed in this am - I'm up 1.8 - actually did better than I feared.

You've had a tough couple of weeks... I think you did very well considdering...:hug::hug: Now if you weren't running off to Europe to avoid us...:rolleyes1

No....he doesn't.

Why are you all picking on Bubba?????:sad2:

He looks like he's snarling out the window.

(I'm mean because I want to be Bubba. He's my hero, so it's jealousy.)

V... I've learned it's best to just let the two of them have a go at it alone... :sad2:

Morning all.

Just sitting here lounging this morning. Shannon is still in bed. Kids are watching TV.

Shaelyn has to go sell Girl Guide cookies this morning. Later tonight Shannon is going over to a friends house to help her bake a cake using "fondant".

Not really much in the way of plans for today - just a kick back and relax day I guess on day 1 of my 4 day weekend. Oh yeah and I apparently have some photoshopping to get done too...

Did have some bad news yesterday, apparently Shannon's sister had her basement "flooded" yesterday (flooded=2 inches of water in the basement). It is a finished basement and two of her kids sleep down there. So their house is in a bit of chaos this weekend. We are waiting to hear if they need us to come help out and get their house back in order.

Other than that, not much to report north of the border (or across the pond)...

Hi Ken... sorry about the basement... I don't have one, but if my garage ever floods, I'll let you know... or my attic for that matter... then I'm really screwed...

Have fun cookie selling... I still want a box of the mints...

And here I thought it was cause "you like him, you really like him" said in my best Sally Fields voice

Hi Sally :hippie:

Our vacation starts in 20 days, 13 hours.

Regarding a gain, what I always tell members is to take a step back and look at the trend. Is the trend in the right direction?

Also, now that it's a fresh new week, what would you like to have happen this week? Can you make it happen? Rehearse it in your mind's eye, so all you have to do is replay the "film" to make it reality.

I'd like to get rid of this you know what so I can get out of the house and take a walk in this nice warmer weather... :thumbsup2

.
One of the tours does go behind part of the Falls--at least it used to. "Cave of the Winds" perhaps?
.

Yup... did it... it's on the Canadian side... figures...
