bad news at work today - 2 people from my team/account were just laid off. This is after they told us earlier this week that we all needed to take a week of mandatory time off.

We've been told our furlough's are to PREVENT anyone having to be laid off.

Michelle's was so cool, I had to copy it! I'm sure Matt and Jill are having fun in WDW.:goodvibes

I'm sure Shannon has already mentioned this but because Vancouver has such a large Chinese population, Dragon Boat racing is a huge even there too and apparently quite the spectacle.

Nope, I had forgotten about it.

Saying goodbye now till Sunday night. Off to the country for the weekend. We postponed this part of our trip last week to go to the Thanksgiving Service for our young friend who had died. Hopefully it should be decent weather.

Have a good weekend all. Keep walking.

Enjoy your weekend!

GOOD MORNING

IT IS FRIDAY WOO HOO

Scottishwee35

That's how I feel! But it'll be more woo-hoo after 4:30 :cool1:

Congratulatons!

Oddly enough, I don't know very much about the online version, though I do know etools.

Tracking is so very important, and what I always say to member is true, "Research has shown that we tend to underestimate what we eat." I know for myself that is so very true.

Check out the recipes and Recipe Builder (I LOVE Recipe Builder).

We ate out the other night before the theatre and I chose where we would eat by looking at the nutritional information on various restaurant sites. We had a great time and I stayed within my points.

If you have any questions, just ask!

The recipe builder is cool. And here's the first question: the way I understand it, if I stay within my daily and weekly points, I will hopefully lose 1to2lbs a week. If I do activity, I should lose faster, but I can also choose to eat up some of the activity points. Is that correct?

Not for a while. I look pretty silly in the uniform because I'm so round. I'm honestly the only one my size in the class and it's a bit embarrassing.

Don't worry about comparing to everybody else, take a picture to remember how excited you and Tyler are about this! Plus as you keep doing it, you'll get smaller and in 6 months you could take another picture and impress yourself with the change! :goodvibes

I recall Deb said she would be away from the boards for a while, just cant remember why now. If I had the extra time I would go back and look.

She was going for a dr's appointment for her leg last Friday, and said she probably wouldn't be on all weekend, because she'd be on vicodin, but I thought she'd be back by now.

That's crappy! :grouphug:

AVERAGE weight loss is UP TO 2 pounds (I suppose .9 Kg) a week.

The weekly 35 points and the activity points are discretionary and there to add flexibility to the program and help stave off feelings of deprivation.

Sometimes, although it might be counter intuitive, a member may have to start using those 35 points or activity points, to lose weight.

I personally, never tapped into activity points and never felt I needed them, some members use them regularly. It all becomes part of the journey and working what works for you. The great part about the plan is the flexibility that is built into it.

I myself, fell into a regular pattern where I knew I had to use more of those discretionary points to get my body burning fat again.

I think sometimes our bodies, with a reduced calorie regime, can actually burn the calories consumed more efficiently, and so weight loss can slow down. I think that over time, you sort of learn how your body will react and how to keep it at a level where it doesn't "think" you're starving and so, doesn't go into that super-efficient survival mode.

I hope this all makes sense.

I think you'll find, that by using filling foods, especially the zero point filling foods that you can be really satisfied.

I hope that helps.

I assume you see a Canadian version of the site and plan? With recipes in metric, etc?

I do all of my food weighing in metric. I want every last gram that's coming to me!

So once again Ian has cost me money.... (can you say Wii and Wii fit?)

Now it is WW for Shannon.

What's next?

Ohhh wait until he finds something for cameras... will Ian make you spend then???? :rotfl: (well, yeah... but then again... :lmao:)

Geez what a day and a trip ... It was certainly one for the memory books.

On the flight down to Vancouver my father remembers that he has forgotten his keys for his apartment down there (my dad actually lives in Prince George and just has a little place in Vancouver fo when we go down there). So we try and contact my uncle who has a spare set and lives a few doors down, but my uncle isn't answering his phone.

When we disembark the plane while waiting for the luggage, we luckily get ahold of my uncle and he gives us his key to my dad's apartment.

ONe of the reasons we were going down to vancouver was to bring my father's Cadillac back up to Prince George. He keeps it in Vancouver during the winter so it doesn't get wrecked during winter driving (keep this in mind as you read on).

So we go down to the garage to take the car to go get some supper, and the battery is dead in the car. Apparently my father forgot to disconnect the battery while storing the car for the past 3 months and because it has an onboard computer it actually drains at a quicker rate than most cars. We contact AAA (BCAA here) and schedule a car boost for in the morning.

At about 6:30am we get the car boosted and are on our way to our meeting at the Vancouver Auto show. Everything goes smoothly this morning....

Then we hit the road. Outside of 100 Mile House (Lac La Hache Provincial Park), my father gets nailed for a speeding ticket. $138.

Then just outside of McLeese Lake my father hits a dog that has run out on the highway. Yes he kills the dog, but it also hits the front of the Cadillac and cracks the bumper panel where the headlight meets the bumper. Stupid humans who live near a highway but don't bother to tie up their dog and the dog has to suffer because of it. The damage to the car will probably cost my father $500 due to insurance deductible.

Thank fully that was the end of the problems. No keys, dead battery, speeding ticket and hit a dog. So much for parking the cadillac down south so it doesn't get damaged during the winter ...

At least I got to see a Ferrari, Lamborghini, Maserati, Bentley and others up close and personal! Pics will follow - probably tomorrow.

Ken... Many hugs... it seems like you had an interesting friday...:hug:

Ian... She has a country home!!!!!

Welcome to Friday!
Your Gateway to the Weekend

Thanks... :thumbsup2

No way to avoid that. My family has a history of getting super dehydrated very easily, including passing out in the summer. It's unbelievable how much water I drink! Tyler's the same way, and even takes a jug of water to bed with him every night and wakes up to take drinks pretty often (I do the same).

Unfortunately, in karate class, you're not allowed to leave the floor, so no drinks. No water bottles are allowed on the mats either, so you just have to suck it up and deal with it. Drink lots before and after. My mouth was so dry that I couldn't yell out to count jumping jacks because my teeth literally stuck to my teeth! :scared1:

& when you pass out from dehydration and they have to call 911 - tell them you like to have water near by... ;)

Good point. I desperately hope to get smaller.

Ian, thanks for the clarification. :thumbsup2 So far, I've been feeling hungry today, but I think its just because my brain knows I'm trying to cut back. I've actually eaten normal foods for a work day, just cutting back on gum, so I guess since I'm not continually chewing, my sub-conscious is sending false signals. So I just have to let my conscious brain over-rule the sub-conscious.

Its a Canadian site that I go to, but most Canadians use imperial for cooking (cups, tsp, tbsp). The site seems to give both imperial and metric as choices for food portions.

Remember to use filling foods. You can really fill up on zero point foods.

Also, hunger can be tricky, always stop and think whether the under is coming from your stomach or your head. There is a difference, sometimes we think we're hungry, but it's not really physical hunger.

All these things are skill that you build over time. Remember, it's a journey of discovery and not a race.

I'm home & trying to relax - today was LUNACY!!!

There were tears (amazingly by those who kept their jobs, not those that had to leave....atleast in public) & moments where many of us wanted to pull our hair out. There were times when we had 8-10 calls on hold (and the longest hold time was over 12 minutes). No breathing room between calls and definately no time to play :surfweb:

We had 1 person on vacation, 1 person who called out sick, 1 person who left at 530pm (usually there until 7p) & then with the 2 laid off people it was not a very enjoyable day.

I was just wondering who was around...

Hi Monica!!!

Sorry you had a yucky day... was the sun shining?

I skimmed the last day's postings & hope I didn't miss too much.

Holly - way to go w/ starting karate - sorry about the 300 jumping jacks :scared1: but things will get easier for you. I also think it's great that you & Tyler will get to share this together.

Venetia - WAY TO GO with the walking & the food

Shannon - YEAH & GOOD LUCK YOU CAN DO IT with the WW. :cool1:

Tracy - WOW with your weightloss - that is so terrific!!

Ian - thank you so much for your words of wisdom - not only about WW but for also explaining things to us in a way that we can understand.

Marilyn & Deborah - have a great time away -can't wait to hear about the trips when you get back.

Gaylean - great Mexico pics - makes me want to be on the beach NOW!

Deb - WHERE ARE YOU??? Hope you're ok.

Michelle - how's the pebble doing? Any news yet? Missed chatting the last few days, but I can guarantee that I would have had to ignore you today.

Hi Chelle - sun was NOT shining for a good chunk of the day -- has there also been a full moon around? It sure seems that way :rotfl:

Monica... I would have loved ignoring you too...
