After hearing Ian (and Venetia, too) talk about WW, today, I decided to join WW Online. So I'm all registered, got my points allotment, read through the points system explanation, tried the food tracking, figured out that the walk I did with the girls gives me 2 activity points. I've been thinking about it for a month, and today decided I needed a jumpstart plus the help to see if when I think I'm eating decently I really am.

Holly - did you enjoy your first karate lesson? When do you go again?

Congratulatons!

Oddly enough, I don't know very much about the online version, though I do know etools.

Tracking is so very important, and what I always say to member is true, "Research has shown that we tend to underestimate what we eat." I know for myself that is so very true.

Check out the recipes and Recipe Builder (I LOVE Recipe Builder).

We ate out the other night before the theatre and I chose where we would eat by looking at the nutritional information on various restaurant sites. We had a great time and I stayed within my points.

If you have any questions, just ask!

You wouldn't show! Thats WAY past your bedtime! How bout 9:00 under the L behind your house?:thumbsup2

When we first moved into this house, 19 years ago, the area behind our house under the L was quite a popular spot. Not sure about the drugs, but from what we found discarded on the ground, we surmised that it was an extremely romantic location.

Holly, once you have your gear, you'll have to get a picture of you & Tyler together and post it :goodvibes
Not for a while. I look pretty silly in the uniform because I'm so round. I'm honestly the only one my size in the class and it's a bit embarrassing.

Welcome to Friday!
Your Gateway to the Weekend

Hey, me too! The first of the year I decided enough was enough, so I went in and joined WW. I always had in the back of my mind that Ian was a WW leader and would periodically share tidbits here.

It's been the best thing ever! I actually go to meetings because I know my self well enough to know that i need the accountability and the camaraderie that going to meetings provides. I just wish Ian was my leader! Susan is awesome, but she's not a DISer!

So....I've lost 20.6 lbs since Jan 6!:banana::banana::banana: I'm so excited!!! I proudly carry my 10% keychain and I'm a bit evangelistic about it. It's just been about the easiest thing I've ever done!

Of course I still have 40+ pounds to lose, but hey, I'm not in a hurry. Once they come off they're staying off, and most of the time it's pretty easy to do. (Today was another story, but tomorrow is a brand new day!)

Gotta get me one of those pedometers, I guess. I never really understood the purpose, but it sounds like just another great accountability tool.

I also LOVE the WW frozen treats. My favorites are the Ice Cream Sandwiches and the Giant Cookies & Cream bars. YUM!!!
Bravo!

This is really so awesome!

Holly... make sure you drink water...
No way to avoid that. My family has a history of getting super dehydrated very easily, including passing out in the summer. It's unbelievable how much water I drink! Tyler's the same way, and even takes a jug of water to bed with him every night and wakes up to take drinks pretty often (I do the same).

Unfortunately, in karate class, you're not allowed to leave the floor, so no drinks. No water bottles are allowed on the mats either, so you just have to suck it up and deal with it. Drink lots before and after. My mouth was so dry that I couldn't yell out to count jumping jacks because my lips literally stuck to my teeth! :scared1:

I too attended meetings every week (I guess I still do :goodvibes). They really helped me.

When I joined in February 2005 (6 months before my 50th birthday) I was really desperate. The wake up call for me was when I walked 2 blocks to the L station and was tired.

I honestly wasn't really confident that I could lose the weight, I was just desperate.

For me it was the meetings and following the plan, not following some spandex Ian plan, but being really honest with myself and tracking honestly.

I also did allow myself special splurges, but the key difference is that prior to WW nearly every meal was a splurge, now, it's reserved for special events (vacations, celebrations, etc).

We have our trip coming up in May and I'm already trying to mentally rehearse my behavior and my choices. I also talked to Sukie about not getting the dining plan, because I felt it was too much food. He agreed. I felt really powerful after that conversation, and confident that I'd be better able to manage food and still have an excellent time.

Aw, that's so cute, I had to copy it! HAPPY BIRTHDAY JILL!!!!

Sounds like fun to me. I keep wanting to take a father/daughter Tae Kwon do class but Shaelyn isn't interested and Kaleigh is still too young.
There's no age requirement at our school, if they can walk and can try to copy what the teacher is doing, they can participate. The youngest I've seen is a 2 1/2 year old in Tyler's class (well, she's 3 now). She's so tiny and cute! She's my favorite one to watch because she really tries and is going to be one tough cookie when she gets older!

Geez what a day and a trip ... It was certainly one for the memory books.

On the flight down to Vancouver my father remembers that he has forgotten his keys for his apartment down there (my dad actually lives in Prince George and just has a little place in Vancouver fo when we go down there). So we try and contact my uncle who has a spare set and lives a few doors down, but my uncle isn't answering his phone.

When we disembark the plane while waiting for the luggage, we luckily get ahold of my uncle and he gives us his key to my dad's apartment.

ONe of the reasons we were going down to vancouver was to bring my father's Cadillac back up to Prince George. He keeps it in Vancouver during the winter so it doesn't get wrecked during winter driving (keep this in mind as you read on).

So we go down to the garage to take the car to go get some supper, and the battery is dead in the car. Apparently my father forgot to disconnect the battery while storing the car for the past 3 months and because it has an onboard computer it actually drains at a quicker rate than most cars. We contact AAA (BCAA here) and schedule a car boost for in the morning.

At about 6:30am we get the car boosted and are on our way to our meeting at the Vancouver Auto show. Everything goes smoothly this morning....

Then we hit the road. Outside of 100 Mile House (Lac La Hache Provincial Park), my father gets nailed for a speeding ticket. $138.

Then just outside of McLeese Lake my father hits a dog that has run out on the highway. Yes he kills the dog, but it also hits the front of the Cadillac and cracks the bumper panel where the headlight meets the bumper. Stupid humans who live near a highway but don't bother to tie up their dog and the dog has to suffer because of it. The damage to the car will probably cost my father $500 due to insurance deductible.

Thank fully that was the end of the problems. No keys, dead battery, speeding ticket and hit a dog. So much for parking the cadillac down south so it doesn't get damaged during the winter ...

At least I got to see a Ferrari, Lamborghini, Maserati, Bentley and others up close and personal! Pics will follow - probably tomorrow.
Wow, what a crappy trip (except the car show!). :scared1:

Do you know what month for 2011 for Wonder Cruise to LA?

Is it Feb? or April?

Scottishwee35
It hasn't yet been announced, but I'm patiently waiting! I'm doing it no matter what! Well, that is, if Tyler's dad will let me take him away from him for 2 weeks.

Have a great week in Aberdeen! We'll miss you!

Marilyn, have a great weekend away! You'll be missed too!

Saying goodbye now till Sunday night. Off to the country for the weekend. We postponed this part of our trip last week to go to the Thanksgiving Service for our young friend who had died. Hopefully it should be decent weather.

Have a good weekend all. Keep walking.

Such an obvious ruse! Oh, how absolutely transparent you, Monica and Kathe are! The depths and lengths of deception gone to, just to avoid me.

Wow, that's a day best forgotten.

Ok... I could go for about 1/2 of those... I have to come up with a playlist for me... and I'm thinking of getting mom and Ipod for her bday (hey... if the Queen can have one... then the Queen mum must have one too...) and I think I'll fill it with lots of big band stuff cause the Dr. wants her to walk and we're joining the Y...

Share what you come up with, K

:lovestruc

Do you have Skinny Cow products out there? I hear they are supposed to be good too... they've just come out with some new ice cream bars...

Love the mint sandwiches and the new truffle bars. We usually get what ever is on sale and what I have a coupon for. We also like the smart one's desserts too.

That's Great Tracy!!!

I started back in Oct - but then got a bit sidelined when my dad got sick and passed away. Now that the weather is getting better I think it may be time to get out and get moving again.

Good night Bubba.

Its time for me to hit the hay too

Sweet Mickey Dreams! Which reminds me, Deb hasn't been on since last week. I hope she's doing okay.

Good morning Marilyn and Deborah!

I recall Deb said she would be away from the boards for a while, just cant remember why now. If I had the extra time I would go back and look.

mmmmmm popcorn ..... I have a real weakness for popcorn ....
I pop a bag before we leave home, throw it in a zip lock and can munch during the day. I've only been doing this for the past few days, but it seems to help with the mid-day munch I need.our micro at work burns, that's why I make it at home.

So once again Ian has cost me money.... (can you say Wii and Wii fit?)

Now it is WW for Shannon.

What's next?

While this may be true, just think how healthy and fit your beautiful wife is and will continue to be. Each one is for a very good cause.:thumbsup2

You really don't want to know the answer to that question, do you?

Well, if it's an iMac then that's ok because it is for my photography stuff ;)

It's on Amazon. $67 but it does come with two dance mat controllers.

I've already got a dance mat. I can tell you that if you're not on a padded floor, this can hurt. Our game consoles are in our bedroom in the basement and there is concrete under the floor. Dance Dance Revolution was just too painful on the hard floor.
