ok you WDW experts, what the heck are you guys talking about.... DDE, DDP etc. I'm thinking about a trip to WDW next jan/feb so I need to know for when I really start planning.

Now....2010 will be a new plan, and they have made changes each year, but this will give you an idea.

If you enjoy a nice dinner break in a sit-down restaurant each day, the DDP (basic) works out pretty nicely. You get one snack credit, one counter service credit and one table service credit per person, per day. ($40 per person/day)

If you prefer to just hit counter service and commando the parks, they have a quick service only plan available this year that costs a little less and gives you two counter service meals each day. (and a snack)

Then there are some upgraded versions of the basic plan, even ones that include wine...I haven't really taken a look at those.

The DDP ties in with your room reservation and you must purchase the plan for the same number of days as your reservation.

The TIW card (previously DDE card) is a 20% discount card offered for sale to FL residents or annual passholders.

So it would come in handy all those times we just happen to 'pull over for a cocktail', eh?

Now....is it restaurants only....can it be used in a resort/poolside bar, in the food courts, at counter service locations?

I wish the DDP allowed you to choose between appetizer OR dessert, as so many more of those appeal to me that the sweet treats do. I can always hold out for ordering multiple appetizers on the ship however!

The MAIN reason why we're going to try it without DDP is because, we would not necessarily always want either and appetizer or dessert, or sometimes either an appetizer or dessert.

Based on my calculations, I think I'm going to order the TIW card when I order our APs. We'll save a net $25 for this upcoming trip, and save a lot more in September, because we know what a lush you are.

(I'll have someone to have a cocktail or two with. I'll drag you off to Victoria Falls in AKL, while Sukie and Cheri sit around the fire pit and tell each other stories).

DDP is the Disney Dining Plan. It's where you basically buy a meal plan. I believe you need to buy a vacation package to be able to buy the dining plan. But, DVC members can buy it without a vacation package.

In the basic plan, you get credits good towards a counter service meal (drink, entree and dessert), a table service meal (drink, entree and dessert) and a snack. You can "spend" your credits however you want ... do two sit downs a day if you wish.

Some of the upscale restaurants are "signature" restaurants, and require 2 sit-down credits.

DDE is the Disney Dining Experience, and is now called "Tables in Wonderland." It's a card you pay for ($75 for AP holders, $100 for plain old FL residents), and you get 20% off of food and drinks at a selection of restaurants. The selection is pretty big, and it includes 20% off alcoholic beverages.

The Tables in Wonderland cards is only available to Florida residents and Annual Pass holders, so it's really not an option for a casual vacation.

Sukie and I, because we're DVC owners, get the FL resident rate for APs, and because we have APs we qualify for the $75 on Tables in Wonderland).

Basically, the TIW card will pay for your tips (or tax and tip depending on your tipping habits).

I've gotta remember to start a 'tips for WDW' envelope and start throwing all my singles in it every once and a while.

Oh, and I love having cocktails at Victoria Falls, it's one of my favorite spots. (Suki and Cheri COULD sit with us, you know....or the drinks can be carried back to the fireplace) I wouldn't mind popping in to the bar at Artist's Pointe either.

Chuck and I have turned cranky all the time now....it's our new hobby....really keeps you on your toes!

We had a wonderful rainy night and half the day today.....hope it keeps the fire danger down in April and May.

We have been re doing the butterfly garden all week. So much got frost bitten this year that we've decided to cut the area in half, so I transplanted everything that made it thru the winter, and I bought a bunch of new pentas and lantanas and red milkweed.
Also planted 2 tomatoes in Topsy Turvy planters.....I hope they turn out ok, I don't really have full sun in my back yard. Now we just have to get somebody to lay sod.

Well, I got on the DIS a good while ago to look up some information in my PM box and have managed to while away a couple of hours!

Need to get the grocery shopping done and maybe grab a Subway for dinner....or actually COOK some of those groceries!

So we didn't even leave the house today. Had a relaxing day, even took a 2 hour nap! I was lying on the couch watching snowboarding on TV and dozed off, woke up to find Tyler lying on the other end of the couch sleeping too! It started snowing at some point, and we were both so happy to see snow, we took a long walk outside in it. It was snowing pretty heavily, we were both covered with a nice coating of it by the time we got home. Definitely not enough to shovel, but the ground is all white and pretty. Sadly, I think it's done though. I was hoping for snow all night long and all day tomorrow so we can go sledding! No such luck.
