Quiet weekend here... mom is good - making her drink her water. We're talking garden plans now that we can see the lawn again. Jumpin Jacks opens on Thursday, but I don't stand a chance of actually getting near the place before the weekend... (the lines will be crazy that day...)

I think tomorrow I will take my Xmas lights down.

New DIS Board policy in effect
While I realize this has very little impact on the particular forum, we have been asked to post something letting everyone know that there is a new policy in effect for every area of the DIS Boards.

Discussions of politics and religion are no longer allowed anywhere on the DIS.

This does not mean that you can not ask for prayers or pixie dust, It doesnt mean that you can not wish someone Merry Christmas.

It means that political and religious discussion / debates are not allowed.

As I said earlier...this has VERY little bearing on this forum, but we were asked to let everyone know.

Debates on cake versus pie versus brownies are fine BTW.

I personally find this to be a really bad thing for a discussion board. I'm a free speach kinda girl. I'm just thinking that I will be spending less time on this site over all since I won't be able to express said thoughts and opinions and nor will I be able to read about differences (which I really do enjoy learning about)

I'm just not sure what the goal of removing this kind of discussion all together will be achieved in a grand sense.

Cant disagree with you more! Politics and religion have no place here as far as serious discussion is concerned. I read some of those threads that were started during the elections, and some of those people were being total narrow minded a s s inine fools! There are many places to discuss those topics amongst people who wish to do so and are ready to be flamed when they express their opinions. Hate to say it, but many on these boards are not open to to any other views but their own and are quick to condemn anyone who doesn't share those particular views. Both you and I have experienced this on OUR thread, although maybe not on these particular issues. But we confronted those that were trying to bully us, for lack of a better word at the moment, and MANY of them no longer post on our thread because we refused to conform to THEIR views and opinions. I'm a free speech kinda guy too, so its a shame they had to ban any of these topics.But some people just refuse to let others express their views. It was open season for those who love to squash the opinions of others on those threads. This is a Disney discussion forum , where do politics and religion fit in? Agree with the mods on this one, these two topics bring out the visciousness and hatred in some people.

Just a quick post to remind myself I am back on page 49 and to check in with everyone.

We are on the road. We just called it quits for the night in Lodi, CA (Oh Lord, stuck in Lodi, again). Will get up and get moving again the morning. Hoping to make it to Seattle for tomorrow night. Wanna try and hit the Mt. St. Helens visitors centre and a few of the outlet shopping centres along the way. That should also get us home on Tuesday night perhaps.

Just want to give a shout out to Gaylean who planned a terrific Dismeet!!
You done did good girl!
Shannon and I had a great time and it was certainly a hilight of the entire trip! Unfortunately pics will have to wait until we get home.

We were in DL until 4pm today and then hit the road so we are bushed. Shannon and the kids are already asleep and I will be joining them in a matter of minutes.

Glad you had a good meet. sorry we couldn't all be there, but look forward to the photos.

We are still planning our trip for April/May/June 2010 so perhaps we will get to have another one then.

I don't know. I have mixed feelings, mainly because it doesn't really surprise me mainly because I thought that already was the policy. I guess I just don't get out much the DIS. I really don't frequent threads other than this one and my other two cruises.

Not sure why. Probably a matter of time and interest.

So, to come back to the original point, I thought that this was already the policy. I wasn't aware that people discussed politics on this board, though I have had a few semi-political rants myself.

I rather agree with both of you.

Nan - because interpretation and enforcement of such rules can often become subjective and sometimes lean towards capricious.

Bubba - because some people, while entitled to their views, can become rather nasty. Sometimes this can bring out the worst of human nature.

Sorry I was MIA over the week & weekend (I did try 2 times but couldn't get on). Rough week & weekend - didn't go see Davy Jones at Epcot - just couldn't get out of the house.

I did do some work around the house & , so not a total waste of a weekend.

I booked myself flights today to go to Turks & Caicos for the weekend of the 4th of July (2 nights). Can't wait to park my behind in a chair on the beach, with a yummy refreshment & a book (then stare out at the water....kind of what I did while Jackie & I were sitting in front of the Cove Cafe on PVR day).
