oh, I was up half the night crying, I was talking to one of my high school friends on Facebook - he is the CM - and somehow in the conversation he told me a very good friend from high school had died in a car wreck. :(
we were so close in high school and ran around together everywhere.

life is really short, I am determined to make the most of it from this point forward.

I wondered what was wrong V. How very very sad. We never know when something like this will hit us do we?

Again, no time to read, just popping in a post before I forget to mention something cute. I just got an e-mail from Tyler's teacher and have copied it below. Very funny!

YOU ARE THE BEST MOM IN THE WORLD! Tyler was telling me about the dance and I told him he was lucky to have the best mom in the world and he said "I know, she is".

Aaaaw Holly, that is so sweet and wonderful.

We all agree of course, but that is nothing compared to hearing it from your child. No actually, hearing it from someone who your child has told is pretty amazing actually. You should should be full of warm glowy feelings this morning!!!

Ooooooo...that's the kind of thing I could easily be a sucker for, but I'm trying to resist! I love the certificate, though!

Hi all! I'm loving my TV! I've never watched this much TV in my life! It's cutting into my WWW surfing time, in fact.

Hope everyone's doing well. I'm going down to Scottsdale tomorrow night to dog-sit for a week while my sis is in Hawaii. Not much else is new with me.

:grouphug: to everyone!
:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: You sound like how I was!

Sorry to hear this.

:goodvibes I am.....because usually he's always telling me how mean I am. I tell him, "Good, then I'm doing my job right!" :rotfl2:

So I've been doing some checking online for a battery for my new camcorder, Best Buy doesn't carry it, and I was starting to worry that it would be one of those $90 batteries! I can relax now because I found it at Radio Shack for $18. That's not bad, I can deal with that! :thumbsup2

Good Morning everyone.

I think it's the disney version of a fund raiser.:lmao:

Not falling for it here.
And Cheri, you know you could design something way better on your own.:thumbsup2

As far as I can see:

1. It was easy to implement for Disney
2. It carries relatively low overhead for Disney
3. It was invented to juice more money out of people.

What you get from what I see:

1. A quarterly magazine subscription for $75
2. Paying for the privilege of buying stuff from Disney

They call it a "community," but based on their logic that would mean:

1. Everyone who shops at the supermarket I go to is a "community"
2. Visa card holders are part of a "community"

In my day, people who paid for such things were called a market, not a "community," it's just a ploy to use a cozy name for a market segment.

I just won ANOTHER $20 cash card on mycoke.com! Woohoo!!!! That makes $100 so far! :cool1:

Hi everybody!

Vanessa - :grouphug: sorry to hear about your friend.

Holly - did you have any pictures from the dance you and Tyler went to? :dance3:

Marilyn & Kathe - loved the stories of the little entrepreneurs.:lmao:

Michelle - that's great that Barb is bouncing back so quickly! :flower3:

I have to keep telling my brain to stay focused, because it keeps wanting to think about the vacation instead of work and study. I've booked a vacation day tomorrow to finish studying, then back into work on Friday, write an exam Friday evening, and Saturday hit the road. Then a week later, a spiffy little Dis-Meet! :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

I've been checking the weather forecasts for Anaheim and its supposed to be nice when we're there low 20's (C) and we've been down in the -20C lately, so it will be so nice. My mom says while she's freezes her tush off, she think about us down there putting on sunscreen! :lmao:

Great summary, Ian.
Disney is fantastic at marketing. This one seems worse than the paving stones to me. We thought a lot about doing the paving stone before we did it, and I was very hesitant to do it especially since we aren't there very often to see it. But I like it, and I really like the wooden version we have to display at home.
Its too bad they made it so expensive, if they cut the price in half, then I'd feel it was worth checking into.

Me either... if they offered discounts or something then maybe, but it doesn't look like it. I missed the old Magic Kingdom Club... at least you could save on a vacation with it...

As long as you have it listed in the 20's (I know... (C)...) then I'll feel better...

Someone over on the podcast thread just posted that the D23 magazine is at Barnes and Noble... for get this... $15.95!!!!!! :scared1: :scared1: :scared1:

I read a few pages before I conked out last night. Michelle, I'm so glad to hear that Barb is on the mend! Please give her a  from me!

Ian, I enjoyed reading the history and meaning of Purim. Interesting that there is a command to get drunk! Glad that recovering alcoholics get an exemption!;) BTW, have you checked out the video podcast "Old Jews Telling Jokes?" It's hilarious!

I cracked up at the stories of the money-conscious little boys. You could have been talking about my brother...he was ALWAYS looking for ways to hustle a buck. We think my nephew, Dylan, is the reincarnation of my brother sometimes!

Very exciting about the names of the new ships. I hadn't heard that news. I told you my TV is cutting into my web time!:rotfl:

I'm very, very bummed that I won't get to see you, Ken, Shannon and girls.:sad1: I'm dying for a trip to DL and it would be so great to see you (and everyone else at the DISmeet).

Congrats, Deborah, on the new car!

One of the features of my new TV is that I can load photos, movies and music on a jump drive and plug it into the TV (there's a USB port) and then look at them. I tried it with some of my cruise pics--it was soooooo cool to see everyone! I also made a DVD of the slide show I made of our sailaway (A Magical Beginning, I think it was) and watched it on the big screen. It brought me to tears--mostly happy, some bittersweet. We really had SUCH a wonderful trip, didn't we???:cloud9:

Should we plan to be on whichever ship they bring over to the west coast for a redo of our cruise?? It does give us lots of time to plan (and SAVE UP)!

Hi Cheri. Try not to be a stranger, we miss you. Enjoy dog sitting. I hope your sis has as good a tv as you now have!
.

Hi Marilyn. It sounds like you folks just got back from a trip. I didn't go back far enough to hear what it was but glad you had fun.

I read it, but didn't get it.

Can anyone summarize for me what the point of D23 is, other than a $75 subscription for 4 magazines a year?

What is it really for?

Good Morning everyone.

Awww shucks! Thanks for the compliment! Maybe Ducky Williams could use me--ya think???

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: You sound like how I was!

I'm surprised at myself! But what can I say...it's my new toy, my 60th BD present to myself and I'm enjoying it!:thumbsup2

I can always count on you, Ian, to put my vague thoughts into words. I think you pretty well summed it up!

I'm still tempted, however....

Hi Cherie!!! :goodvibes Have a good week... I hope you don't go through TV withdrawal if her TV isn't as good as yours... (happens to me every time I come upstairs to watch MY tv...

Their TV is probably the same size as mine, with a great surround sound system. The problem is, I can't figure out/remember how to work their universal remote--it's like a small computer (to me). So I'll be watching TV in the nanny's room. She has a pretty good TV and the remote is just a plain old, straight-forward one!:dance3:

My condolences to you, V. I made that vow when my father died in 1983 at the age of 60. Now I'll be 60 in just a couple of months...I've been thinking about that a lot lately. My brother was only 53 when he died. Life can change in an instant. One thing I try to remember to do is express my appreciation to people out loud, in words, instead of just thinking it. I'm not perfect with it, but I try.

Better get out of the house and do some errands before the day is completely gone. Have a good one, everyone!:thumbsup2

Kisses and hugs to you baby  The shock of hearing it. The shock of not knowing sooner.

It's so hard when you hear news like that. The other day, when I got together with my colleagues they told me that someone I worked with (hell shared a desk with) when we worked abroad, died in his sleep. He and I were the same age.

Holly - did you have any pictures from the dance you and Tyler went to? :dance3:
Well, I didn't take my camera, but there was a photographer taking pics on the way in to be picked up on our way out. I'll post it tomorrow because I have to scan it in tomorrow at work anyway to send to Tyler's teacher (he told me he wants her to see it). :thumbsup2

WHY IN THE HECK ISN'T LOST ON?!?! I look forward to it all week!

So I looked at a few stores for a battery for my camcorder with no luck. :headache: I guess I'll just have to be patient and order one and wait for it to come. Well, I actually didn't try Best Buy yet because it's on the far side of town, but since they sell the camcorder, I'd assume they'd sell the battery, so I'll check there tomorrow and if they don't have it, I'll give up and order one.

The Sanyo doesn't come with a battery?
