I guess I forgot that part. On the far edges of the playground he found a piece of broken mirror from a makeup compact, picked it up, grabbed the arm of the first child he came to, and cut him on the inside of his arm from the wrist almost up to the elbow. When Tyler was taken to a time out, he got very aggressive with the teachers, one had to almost sit on his legs to stop him from kicking her, and he was telling another one that he was going to murder her and her whole family.
As I said, horrifying. It's so impulsive when he does these things, nothing triggers him, nobody was even around him every incident, he just goes up to somebody and does stuff. But later, he was so worried about the boy, telling him he's so sorry he hurt him and asking if his arm is OK. His punishment at school was to miss his favorite activity, swimming, and after school I kept him from karate class.
Anyway, that's the story.
Oh Holly, you must be beside yourself. What a bad day this has been for you and Tyler and the other boy and his family. Remember to tell yourself that it's not your fault and it's not Tyler's fault. Please explain that to the other boy and his family. This was not intentional. This was another occurrance of a problem that is being corrected. It was a great thing for you to call Tyler's Dr. and ask him to escalate the timeframe. You need to make sure Tyler's dad is on the same page too. Be brave, hang in there, it is being resolved.
