We couldn't get enough nights at WBC so have to stay somewhere else the first night we get to Orlando. The next morning we have a res at TH for 8:25 and plan on spending the day at AK since we've never been. Should we check in before we go to TH? It would be like 7:30 am...is that too early? The other option is to leave the park, check in and go back to AK.....

No guarantee you will get a room.

We showed up at around 11-noon on our last trip. Room wasn't ready---they said they'd call. No phone call ever came so we came back at the official check in time and got a room.

Well you can "check in"...tell them that you are there, want to get into your room, and go to the parking pass desk to deal with the annoying timeshare sales people. But you can't get the keys until your room is ready. You don't really save much time by "checking in" early unless the room is actually ready.

If you couldn't get a reservation for the night before, I think it's obvious there will not be any rooms available at 7:30 AM or so.

I agree with others that "checking in" when you know your room will not be available serves no purpose. I'd wait until later in the day.

Normal checkin at WBC is 4 PM. We have checked in as early as Noon, but that was in November which is a slow period for them.

If you don't get there until later in the evening, the sales weasels will be gone and the front desk may give you your "parking pass." The parking pass is a completely useless piece of paper anyway -- it is not used, never checked. Many experienced Wyndham owners don't even bother getting one.

One other tip on the sales weasels. When you get to your room, unplug the phone. They are going to call you, even if you told them no at the desk. They may also come by your room to "bring your welcome gift." If you let them in, they will launch into a timeshare sales pitch, and they will NOT leave.

If you want to buy a Wyndham timeshare, you can get a contract on eBay literally for $1. Don't waste your vacation time talking to the sales weasels.

I will disagree slightly with what Jim said.... I'm not sure "checking in early serves no purpose".

i can think of 1 possible advantage to swinging by the resort to check in that early, and that is so that you can have Guest Services store your bags while you go to the park instead of leaving them in your car.

Depending upon your car, and what you have with you, some people may feel more comfortable storing the bags at the bell services room at the resort than leaving them in a car sitting in the sun in a theme park parking lot all day.
