Ways to save $ by creative food ordering?

At a TS I often will order two appetizers. Usually they are more than filling enough, fewer calories and saves a few bucks.

We do this at lots of restaurants, not just Disney - My husband is a steak lover, but I just want a taste. Even the meal with just the 6 oz steak is sometimes $15+. SO, rather than order the meal he really wants, which is the 8-10 oz. steak, he orders the next size up, like the 10-12 oz. steak. It's often only about $2 more. He cuts me off the few ounces of steak I want.

I order my salad alacarte. I'll order a side of veggies, if I'm really hungry. By the time we eat some of the bread, too, we're STUFFED. And I get just what I want for about half the price, or less, than ordering a 6 oz. steak meal.

We too have most breakfasts in our room. Even when on DDP. It definitely saves money, and it's quicker. Plus my DD7 isn't that big of a brakfast eater (or any meal really) so we just take along something for her to eat a little later (like those small boxes of cereal, etc. ) This works well for us. :goodvibes

Also, we split, or share, quite a few meals. Again, even on DDP. Many of the CS serve large enough portions that 2 meals split between my DM, DD7, and myself, is usually more than enough. We also share at TS, especially on DDP. :goodvibes

I don't eat meats for breakfast, and I'm wondering if it's possible to ask to keep the bacon or sausage option off of a platter at places such as ABC Commissary or Boatwright's, where the platters I'd order automatically come with meat. Usually I give my meat to one of the kids, but they don't really need it since they are getting meat anyway. Does it save money to say "hold the bacon and sausage" on those pre-plated breakfast plates?

This is what we do too. The kids love to eat their cereal in the room, it just seems very vacationy to them (and me too, we used to do this as children).
We do the DDP and always split up the CS credits, I usually get 2-3 meals for the 4 of us. There is alway plenty of food.

One split that we use is Casey's at MK, I just one dog for the kids and its perfect for them. If they are looking for more food, I cut them some of mine - i really could eat a whole one, but know that I shouldn't. :thumbsup2
