Curious if anyone has any ideas on how to make a family dinner at Sanaa a bit extra wonderful for a birthday celebration! Both my sister and brother in law are celebrating their 30th birthdays this spring, and as we get ready to embark on an epic family adventure we are thinking about surprising them with a special celebration while in Disney.

My inclination would be some sort of adventure for a day, but this is their first trip with their son (he will be 2) and I know that they are not interested in time apart for him.

I am just wondering if anyone has ever planned something to add to a dinner, and what you added?

Thinking like a good bottle of wine to start, but then my creativity drains... (so is the life with twin one year olds and a full time job as a special ed teacher; by 8pm I can function one step at a time)...

Thank you in advance for your endless creativity and wonderful ideas :)

You could order a custom birthday cake. There is actually a Disney cake line for special orders. I believe there is also a standard cake you can order when you check in. I’ve never done this, but have seen lots of pictures and they are amazing!

Wine never hurts, until it does.....

I second the cake idea. Also, I know you said they aren't interested in time apart from their son, but I'm assuming he would go to bed earlier than his parents. What about offering to stay in their room while their son sleeps so they can go have a couple of drinks together either at your resort or go spend a couple hours together at Disney Springs? You could also consider paying for them to go on the hot air balloon thingy or one of those car shaped boats at Disney Springs. I fully understand not wanting to miss your toddler's first trip, but if he's sleeping, they might be more amenable. For me, I would greatly appreciate the opportunity to go out with my spouse while at the same time not missing quality time with my son.

Oh, that reminds me. A PP included the link for it, but you could have a gift basket delivered to them on the day you're celebrating from either Disney Florist or another company, or bring/mail your own/build one yourself once you get to the resort.

Also, get them the Happy Birthday buttons. Your resort should have them, or you can get them in the parks.

Maybe this is stating the obvious, but when you arrive at Sanaa you can request a table by the window. The savannah view would make the meal extra special. Of course, everyone wants those views, but it doesn't hurt to ask.
