Ways 'Ohana has cut corners on dinner

We have had so so service once at 'Ohana, but have always had plenty of great food. I can't remember if we ever asked for seconds of anything before or not.

It's my understanding you can ask for seconds whether they offer or not.

Why did I open this thread, I'm going next week and all I'll be doing is looking for this stuff. Most of those I'm pretty sure I don't care about. they stopped with three sauces a long time ago. I think it's just two now or maybe just peanut sauce.

They don't prep kosher meals in the kitchens. WDW doesn't have kosher kitchens. They order the kosher meals from offsite. I didn't much like the pork skewers anyhow. I want the shrimp. (I don't think shrimp are kosher either)

The last time we went we had no problem. Our server stopped by and brought us more food. We were so full by the end that I had to cram down the bread pudding and roll myself out of there.

We're also big eaters and pretty much finished the first plate, so our server was very open in asking if we wanted seconds. Of course we did, but we told her not too much - just another tasting of each. Totally worth the money.

The service at Ohana is what is hit or miss, the food has always bee great on the 4+ visits we have had. I was there in March 2016 and had one of the best servers ever there and she brought anything we asked for and we had to tell her we were good on meat skewers as she kept coming with them. This last time was one of our best visits as far as food and service goes.

You can have more of anything at Ohana all you have to do is ask. We always ask for more potstickers and wings and have never had a problem. Ask and you shall receive.

We don't have the same experience as the OP. In fact, we always ask them to bring the macadamia nut butter from Kona when they bring our bread. Our server brings plenty of it every time. We are always accommodated with plenty of food as well.

It sounds like you got a bad server. On our last visit (11/2015), when we asked for "more pot stickers", the server brought out a plate containing, no exaggeration, 20 of them (piled up to the sky!). This was at a table for two! We got butter with the bread without asking. After being offered multiple rounds of skewers, we told him that we were ready for dessert. After we quickly ate the dessert, the server asked us if we wanted another one!

In 11+ years of eating at 'Ohana, we have never had the server offer to bring more of anything other than the meats, but they happily do when asked. I agree the service is very hit or miss, but not enough to keep us away.

We ate at Ohana back in Feb and thought the food was mediocre at best - it tasted like it had been prepared ahead of time and sitting around. Our waiter disappeared for long stretches of time too. Will not be back. We were not seated until 7:55 for a 7:10 ADR - the only good thing about dinner was the pineapple drink at the bar

We turned a lot of food away on our last trip (April 2016). I never thought the sweet bread needed butter. We've had good servers during our meals there, but there's no underestimating the negative impact an absent server can have on a meal. I do miss the pork though.

First time we went to 'Ohana in 1999, there was no butter.

After many visits later, butter was served with the bread in 2008. It was divine too--all whipped and delicious. I asked for it every time after that--probably four more times--but never got it again. Why the butter is so elusive there, is a mystery to me.

we went to Ohana Monday evening....we had a five o clock reservation and the place was already filled with the new earlier openings...first off..our server was Cathy and she was fantastic.. She took our drink order and then said ..oh I will be right back with some butter for the bread...we didnt ask for it.. the pot stickers and wings were great as usual ...noodles were hot and very good ...plus the veggies..(the second server asked if we would like some more of the appetizers) .she brought over the shrimp at first and then said.. I will be back with the chicken.hubby said he doenst like the chicken and she said..Oh then I will bring you the meat...it was so tender we could of cut it with our fork...she came over multiple times with more shrimp and beef...hubby was in his element.. the dessert was ...sooooooo good...but we were full..she said..how about some coffee to go with dessert..as we were having diet cokes.....so all in all ..our meal was great and the server was fantastic..

We were there a couple of weeks ago and had a great meal. While the servers did seem to have too many tables, they did offer seconds of everything. And we took them up on seconds (and thirds) of the pot stickers.

I really don't have any complaints about Ohana over the years other than the one big problem that seems to always be present regardless of whether it's breakfast or dinner and regardless of the time... I have never in four visits been seated within 20 minutes of my ADR. Last year for breakfast we were seating 45 minutes past our ADR. Because of this I passed on our upcoming trip in June.

I've never had an issue with service. For me it's been about general quality. We always ask for everything well done, and make it clear we don't mind waiting. The wings often come with pinkish-reddish meat, and last time the shrimp was still translucent and black instead of white and pink. Basically raw. The beef never comes well. When the well wings came out there was virtually no seasoning on them. I like a lot of seasoning, but I think that's very inconsistent depending on who is manning the grill.

Ohana has had these comments for as long as I've been going, since 1998. I think it is highly server dependent

SO glad to hear this, thank you! Honestly I think earlier is better than later (in general) as they seem to get more backed up and frenzied as the night goes on.

I think that Ohana gets the most mixed reviews of any restaurant. It is simultaneously a must-do, and horrible.

That being said, I was finally ready to go there end of May/early June, but finding out that was a blackout period for TIW was a deal-breaker.

Our visit to Ohana was disappointing. Service was great. Food was abysmal.

Ohana is our favorite restaurant at WDW. We have probably eaten there over 100 times in all out visits and have never ever seen butter to go with the bread. This is a first I've ever read about it. As far as the wings and potstickers we alway ask for seconds on those. I like those more then the meats!

We just ask for more if we want it. Problem solved.
