Her darling adorable cousin/ best friend cut it today. Did I mention that she is 3? So, yeah, DD4 looks really, well... interesting. Still beautiful, but, well.. she's crying a lot when she sees herself (and--hey-- NOW maybe she'll remember that Mom's isn't making it up when I tell her actions have CONSEQUENCES!)

But still, the vanity in me wants to make this better-- at LEAST some better before we go to Disney... yeah, I know, vain, its not just about the pictures, but... still...

Any tips on growing hair out? Seriously-- safe home remedies?

Maybe I just need sympathy from some other DIS moms who have dreams of perfect princess pictures dancing in their heads...

I am sorry to say that there is no magic remedy. Massage her scalp to improve circulation and eat healthy. I have my hairdressing license so I speak from experience. Maybe you can get her a cute haircut while cut grows in? How short/much hair are we talking here? princess:

My DD3 took a big chunk out of the side of her hair just a few weeks ago. I took DD3 to my hair guy, and he layered it around her face to make it less noticeable. It will take another hair cut to completely fix it, but it looks really cute with the layers and I didn't want to cut it too short to fix the mistake. My advice - see a professional!

I second that advice--see a professional hairstylist. Don't try to fix it yourself.I think every mom I know has had at least one child cut their hair. Two of mine did  It's only hair, albeit beautiful hair. It will come back eventually. Here's a hug :grouphug: to help you get going again.

To make you feel better...my cousins DS (age 4 at the time) cut his sisters long, long blonde hair (age 3 at the time) My cousin took DD to the salon for a fix and they gave her the cutest cut! It was soooo adorable on her, that they never grew her hair back long! (not to mention is was easier to take care of)

Thanks for the sympathy... we did go to my hair guy this morning, and he did a fantastic job, but hey-- 1 mm stubble in the place of bangs is tought to hide... at least the rest of the head looks like a cute circa 1979- Dorothy Hamill cut.

Sigh.

Thanks again for the sympathy!

If the short hairs are right in front where the bangs are, you could always try a headband. One of the wide fabric headbands that sit close to the hairline. I used to work in a salon with a children's salon in it. So many kids do this. It will grow. Good Luck!

Can we see before, during, and after pics? j/k but I bet it's not as bad as it sounds. :)

DD cut her hair along the scalp by her part when she was 2. 6 months later it's still growing in, but it wasn't that noticeable.

Ya well my daughter was 3 when she took the scissors to her own hair and chopped her bangs to 1mm a month in a half before she was the flower girl in her aunts wedding. :scared1: The things kids do.

dd is 7 and she cut a chunk of her hair on the side. a week after she got a "big girl" haircut (layered) she got gum in her hair and cut it, but it wasn;t that bad a little blending and she would have been ok. But noo she had to make the other side match, huge chunk mid ear. I took her to the hair dresser ad she sat there not killing us for 2 hours. only to her me say "I'm just not feelin it" over and over. finally we layerd her and she looked like one of Charlies angels. Bt it finally grew, but I did almost cut it and give her a boy hair cut like her brothers.

My dd2 cut a big chunk of her hair right above her ear. I took her to the salon and they gave her a cut that made the shorter hairs blend in some. Luckily, my children's hair grows very fast and it wasn't long until we couldn't even tell where it was cut. My ds5 sports a buzz cut and it has to be done every 2 weeks.

OHHHHHHHHH I SOOOOO remember this look!!! DD did this when she was 3 also. I had just found out I was preggo with DD#2 about a week before this so needless to say I was still feeling like I could faint at any moment. I had just taken a shower and I told her I was gonna go upstairs and get some clothes. Well on my way back down the steps I looked over at the recliner and there she is with the scissors to her the bangs and as I am screaming ..NOOOOOOO!!! She CUTS!!! I thought my legs were going to just turn to mush. I made it down the steps and I looked at her head and she had cut the side up to her chin and gave it a layered effect. Her hair was right at her waistline. The front of it looked like she had taken a razor to it. I about DIED!! We had it all cut to her chin to match the other side. This was in September of 2003 and it did not look normal again until the end of April 2004 when DD#2 was born. I washed her hair in MANE & TAIL every other washing, and it helped out some, but nothing will make it grow faster than time itself!!! I know that is not what you want to hear, but it is true.

I luckily do have pictures of this event because now we look at them and talk abut how silly she looked and she reminds me now that she is 6 yrs old that it was not a smart thing to do and she will never ever do that again.... NOW any and all scissors in the house are in the cabinet above the fridge so she cannot get to them!!!! :thumbsup2 or dd2 for that matter!!!

Last weekend a friend of ours,S, had to run another friend to the ER because he was very sick. S left her daughter with some other friends, in S's house. While she was gone S's daughter cut her own bangs, right up to the scalp. The friend watching her felt really bad.

Also last week a girl in my DS's first grade class cut her own bangs to the scalp! Seems its going around!

Well, most of us have been thru it, if that makes you feel better. Usually happens before they are supposed to be a flower girl, or ring bearer, holidays, recitals, etc!

That Mane and Tail shampoo and conditioner really made my hair grow fast.

I am not sure if you want to take the chance on getting it in her eyes or if it really works for everyone.

Hope this helps!
