I'm going to try to keep this short, without revealing TMI. Does anyone have any experience with either Butler or Bradley Hospitals in RI? My dd7 was hospitalized over the weekend at one of the two hospitals. I was leary about the available hospital, but have been pleasantly surprised by the way it's run. I'm just looking for some reassurance that he's in the correct place. Anyone? PS I've alrready spoken to his peditrican and mental health worker who both had postive things to say about this placement.

:grouphug:

I have no clue about the hospital itself but lots of pixie dust (and prayers if you want them) for a positive outcome.

I was an inpatient at a psych hospital when I was 16 (adolescent ward). It was one of those experiences looking back that while it was an impossible decision for my parents was one of the best things that could have happened to me at the time (besides spontaneously getting better).

I know all hospitals are different and your son is much younger but if you need anything please PM me. I've dealt with psych stuff most of my life and this week figured out that I've been on over 15 different meds in the past 5 years (with 9 months without meds in there too). I'm very open about my life and no question is too personal.

Good luck.

I am sending Pixie Dust :wizard:

I am am adult who has struggled with mental illness for many years. I don't know anything about RI hospitals, but am VERY familiar with the stigmatization of psych hospitalization. I also know that treatment can be a long course of "trial and error".

Feel free to PM me.

Hi, I also no nothing about the hospitals that you mentioned... But, I have a DS 7 who was hospitalized in Feburary and is now diagnosed as Bi Polar. I just wanted to say that I know how difficult this decision for you and your family and how hard it is to see him there.. I wanted to take my son home each day that I visited him! He was in a Psy Hospital for 16 days and it felt like a year.. Lots of good came out of it.. He got regulated on his meds and got a new placement for school. He is doing so much better now that things have calmed down... Im taking him to Star Wars weekend in a few weeks because he had such a tough year. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family! Eileen
