I would love to rent one of those waverunners or Seadoos at HH or Vero (depending on what is available), but I have a question about these. I saw them out on the water when we were at Vero, and I wondered how you get on the thing once you rent it.

They were parked a bit out and the water was at least waist high. Due to my age and infirmity (lol) I don't think I could hoist myself up on one of those things if I had to rely on the strength of my upper body (read: no upper body strength). Embarrassed, I never even asked about it. Anyone have any first hand knowledge?

Tammy,

I don't recall seeing them at HH in front of Disney Beach Club. However, They might be at another area on the island. Now that I think of it.....We have been going for 9 years and have never seen them at the beach.

At VB there are 2 of them that you can rent at the shack on the beach. They are anchored in the ocean about 50 feet offshore. When you rent them the attendant will go get it and bring it in. You might want to make sure it is calm when you rent it if the upper body strength is an issue because you could get thrown easily if your not careful and you will have to get back up on it.

Have Fun !

How much does this cost? I am so excited about this. We are buying DVC in February or so and I am trying to find things to keep my husband happy with the idea. He is looking forward to a Vero vacation and would love to rent these!!

My son and I did this a number of years ago at VB. At the time it was $50 for 30 minutes. I don't think they're allowed at HHI.

If the water is rough, riding these things can be a pretty good workout for your upper and lower body. When the water is rough, or when you cross through the wake, you must flex your knees slightly to absorb the shock when the craft lands; otherwise your bunkum would take quite a spankin when that baby lands! I rented one of these and rode my DD8 in front of me on the seat. It was quite a workout keeping her on boad when accelerating and turning. I was plum tuckered out and could not get my land legs back under me for a little while after we got off. I was a hoot though!!:woohoo:

Maybe they aren't at hhi! lol. Thanks for the info.

We were at HHI last week and I also did not see any. However, they did have this cool huge three wheeled bike vehicle you could take out onto the ocean! It looked really fun and really stood way out of the water.

Just remember, if you fall off while riding it out in the ocean, you must be able to climb back on it. If you are not sure, try to climb on it while it is in shallow water, befor you rent it. If you can not get on it, I wouldn't recommend renting one.
