We are going to Disney and this is my first time staying on site. We have chosen the CBR. My husband and I are arguing over the meaning of Waterview--does this mean our room will face the lake/beach area of the resort (as opposed to the parking lots). He is thinking as long as you can see the water from your door that constitutes waterview---even if it is really facing the parking lot. Anyone that can help prove me right??

We just stayed a CBR in 8/07 and our room was a standard view. It looked like all the water view rooms had both the door and window facing the lake. Take some time to walk around the resort one day it will be worth it! It's a really nice place to stay.

He's right. Any glimse of the water, is waterview. Also, at the CBR, waterview, king bed and preferred location are all the same upgrade price. At the CBR, I'd say preferred location is more important than waterview. That resort is HUGE!

We stayed there last minute over Thanksgiving and were really happy we had a preferred location room. We were in North Trinadad and it was a very short walk to the food court and we had a choice of two bus stops. I would have hated having to take the inside bus just to go get a cup of coffee at the food court in the morning

The downside was that for the quickest walk, we had to walk thru the parking lot which annoyed me since it was a nicer walk to by the water. But it was just so out of the way. So we saw more parking lots than water and beach at the CBR!:rotfl:

Since none of the moderates have balconies I would not pay for a "water view" room and I believe your husband is correct that if you can see water from your doorway then you are in a water view room. Not worth the extra expensive in my opinion.

We booked thru AAA, so I think that was a 'free' upgrade for us--I had an issue with them because I originally found a cheaper price on WDW.com so they gave us that, plus we got the discounted rate. Gosh darn it---I hate it when he's right!
With the 2 kids (5 and 1), we were thinking of requesting the Jamaica for the beach with a playground, and a quicker walk across the island to the food court. Any opinions to share about that? Would the Martinique be better?

With the lush landscaping at CBR it would be hard to see the cars in the parking lot. A water view may also overlook a quiet pool.

Parts of Martinique are preferred. If you want that location I would take preferred over water view.

Martinique is close to a bus stop and we liked that. It was however a little bit of a walk to Old Port Royale, which is where the main pool and all the stores are.

Jamaica would be the perfect location with little one's! I would request Jamaica 45 as that building would be the absolute closest to the bridge leading to OPR...5 minute walk at tops. Jamaica 44 would be the next best location which sits by the quiet pool.

CBR is fantastic! I just love everything about this resort...from lay-out, themeing, atmosphere, music, food, shopping, pool, etc.... It's our family's favorite moderate resort!!

We loved staying at Jamaica last year and it was awesome. We had a water view (we got unpgraded because our 1st room wsn't cleaned yet). We requested the same room for our trip next month. My kids loved playing in the sand and playing on the playscape. Our walk to the food court was not very long and the scenery was awesome. Our room was the furthest from the food court in Jamiaca water view and it wasn't that far.

Thank you thank you thank you!!

I didn't realize that I could even request a specific room! I think I will do that.

Thanks again

Yes, you can definitely request which island and building without having to pay for a preferred location! :) Unless of course you request Martinique or Trinidad North.

I don't quite get what you mean here.

There are 2 villages that have "preferred location" rooms, meaning they are the closest rooms to OPR ... these are MARTINIQUE and Trinidad North (only half the rooms in Martinique are preferred location rooms -- these are in Buildings 24, 25 and 26). There's no where in CBR that is CLOSER to OPR than Martinique.

Also, each village has its own bus stop. Martinique is no closer to a bus stop than any other village, since each village has one.

As others have stated, a waterview room at moderates its really not worth it. If there is a lake, pool or even a little puddle of water near your room, its considered waterview. The only thing that makes me want to request it sometimes is that I know I have a better chance of not getting a parking lot view then. But I never pay anymore for it, I just request. :)

We have stayed at CBR four times and stayed in four different areas. All have been great. When one building is farther from Port Royale, then it's probably closer to a bus stop. IMO, I'd rather be closer to a bus stop. The walk to the food court is relaxing and picturesque. My boys loved to chase the birds. The walk to the room at the end of LONG day, from the bus stop is tiresome.

Building 21 (room 2107 standard view) was not a short distance from OPR. There are 6 different buildings in the Martinique village and building 21 was farthest of the 6 from OPR.

Each villige having it's own bus stop was one of things I liked about CRB, wasn't trying to make point, just saying what I like about our stay.
