Water's boiling point

at higher alltitudes.

What's with that?
 
I don't remember the exact formula, but boiling point is based on temperature AND pressure. Higher altitude equals lower pressure.
 
And if you add salt to it, that lowers the boiling point too, so water will boil at a lower temp.

Nope. Adding salt does affect the boiling point but it RAISES it, not lowers it. Pure water at sea level boils at 212 degrees Fahrenheit. Salt water (20% solution) boils at 216 degrees. However, the salt water heats faster and reaches a boil sooner than the pure water.

Dang, I knew it was something goofy like that. I retyped lowers/raises about 5 times before I settled on one.
