Can somebody please tell me if the wet rides, mainly Kali and Splash Mountain, offer any type of protection for your cameras, tote bags, fanny packs, etc?

I thought that I had read somewhere that Kali has a bin in the middle of the raft where your items could be sealed, but I have heard nothing about Splash Mountain.

Thank you in advance for your answers.

Have a blessed day! ::MickeyMo

Splash Mountain is wide open so take preventive measures to protect your items. My suggestion would be to buy a waterproof disposable camera and use it on those rides if you want pictures. Kepp the digital camera off the wet rides.

Also for Kali, take an extra set of clothes (socks, shirt, etc.) unless you want to walk around wet until you dry out. You can keep them in a locker at the front of AK if you don't want to carry them around all day.

Ive read about people using ziploc bags for their electronics. Another, more durable option: if you have a boat store nearby (or www.boatersworld.com , www.westmarine.com ) check it out as they often have waterproof bags in different sizes (from cell phone up to huge duffel bags).

Thank you for this suggestion. My camera is in a nice camera bag, about 1 foot square. I will look into this option for the wet rides. If I have something I can place my cameras in, I would feel better about going on them. Otherwise, somebody will have to stay off the ride to hold the SLR and digital camera.

Kali has a large bin that has a lid in the middle of the ride. It seems to keep things basically dry, but I would also put the camera in a seperate bag just in case some water does get in

I dunno for me a ziploc would be great for splash and that but maybe a locker would be worth the money to keep a digital camera safe.

splash mountain isnt too bad. i would invest in some sort of minor protection tho...just to be safe. ive never been on kali tho so i couldnt tell you about that one.

For Kali, there is a bin in the center. It may get over stuffed though. I have packed a hefty bag in my back pack to hold my shoes and back pack durring the ride, it kept my things dry, and I just threw the wet trash bag away after.

Another thing to remember on Kali is that you must leave your shoes on, even though you will most likely get them very wet, so remember to bring some sandals or something if you think it will bother you. It worth it though, its loads of fun.

Ok it looks a little silly but works.....

If I dont want my shoes to get wet on Kali I bring the giant size ziploc bags and put them over my shoes on the ride and zip it closed to my leg. I saw that on a tip board here somewhere and it does work.

I have an expensive digital camera and the boys each had cameras as well- here is our experience.

Splash isn't bad at all- as long as the camera is in a fanny pack or camera bag around your waist ot in your lap it will be fine.

Same with Kali. In a fanny pack, then put it in the middle. We did Kali 6 times in a row in June, and things were fine- even though the containers in the middle didn't close completely down. We did splash 3 times in a row on enite- no problems.

Take a parka from the dollar store instead of clothes for Kali- less to carry. Just put your feet up on the bar in the middle to keep your shoes fairly dry. My kids wore Tevas- that's an option too. I just don't like walking a park all day in sandals- prefer the support of sneakers.

Blessings

The CMs can't release the raft until they see everyone has shoes on (in addition to their standard safety checks!!!! :) )

Many take their shoes off AFTER the raft has been released.

on splash we have always just put our camera in a ziploc bag in the camera bag and put that under our jacket( usually there in winter) and never had a problem. don't put it on the floor, we just keep in the the side towards the middle of the ride..have yet to have the weather warm enough to want to get that wet on the rapids!
