Waterproofing a birdhouse?

My girls both wanted to paint birdhouses for Grandma for Christmas. They are now painted and sitting in my kitchen. What do I need to go to Lowes to get to make them waterproof?

Hmmmm....I would check to make sure that the chemicals are OK with birds before you buy something.

Spar Urethane is safe for the birds as long as it is completely dry and smell free. So basically let the bird house air out after putting it on.

If you live in a high humidity climate, it is better to put it inside and outside of the bird house if possible so the bird house will survive longer outside.
