Waterproof layers, Alaska

I ordered these from Amazon. I’m kept them in the original package and if I don’t use them I’ll return them.

Update: Costco is selling some 3-in1s kids jackets and weatherproof pants at a great price so I snagged those for the kids just in case. I didn't have to stress, just run out of groceries apparently.

We live in an area that gets real winter, so we packed our regulus coats, but we both have 3-in-1 systems and were very glad for them last week. There were days we just wore the shells and days we wore both layers. (It was very rainy, so we never just wore the warm layer.)

We never needed rain pants. My daughter wore leggings every day.

In terms of shoes, I packed 2 pairs of sneakers for each of us. My feet never got wet enough to NEED to swap shoes. My daughter did have to rotate hers, but she seems to find very deep spot on every sidewalk, trail, etc. It’s her “special” skill.

We live in New Mexico and have sailed twice to Alaska.
We bought hiking boots (inexpensive but sturdy ones from Target) and sprayed them with water-repellent. Boots are needed for rain/snow and especially for walking on trails with slippery rocks (protect your weak ankles).

Think of Alaska as seven days at WDW during the summer. Don't buy expensive but be prepared:
Dollar Store rain ponchos and a compact umbrella (the one you keep in your vehicle and use once a decade).
