Waterproof digital camera

I got one from Amazon- it's an Olympus floating strap in red- it wound up being $13- shipping and all. My sister and I both have the water cameras- we are sharing it- she just used it for her cruise and LOVED it!!

Thanks -- that's the one that I was looking at. Some reviews said that it didn't keep the camera afloat -- just sank. It worked well for your camera?

Thanks for the info -- off to Amazon to order.:thumbsup2

The reviews on Amazon say it doesn't work for the Olympus 1030, but was great for earlier (lighter) models. If you're using an earlier model, it should be great. The canon weighs about the same as the 1030, or I'd love to try it.

I'm glad you ordered Ali! I hope you love it!:)

Hmm -- I think it is the 1030 because you can take underwater video. Guess I'll need to give my friend a ring to be sure I get the right thing.

(Disneyfalcon -- what is Ali??)

 That is my bad punctuation. I should have put "Glad you ordered, Ali!" because I was addressing her previous post.

:flower3:Thanks for posting the pix of the actual camera! Nice size and I think I will head to the stores to acutally handle it before we buy but I am ppretty convinced already!

Have an awesome day and a wonderful trip!

Thanks, Wanda!:)

hi disneyfalcon,

thanks for posting the pictures of the camera.

the reason a floatable strap would be good is that sometimes i will pass the camera to my DH or DD while we are snorkeling and if the hand pass does not connect i would not want to lose the camera. from what you are saying the canon weighs the same as the 1030 so the olympus strap might not work. i'll see if i can find another one.....otherwise we have have to be extra careful.

have you done any additonal testing with the camera?

please let us know how the camera performed when you come back from your cruise. hope you have a wonderful time.

Hi Ellen! You're welcome. I haven't done much else with it. I'm going to play with it this weekend and get the focus down. I leave two weeks from today for the cruise, I'll definitely post some pics when I get back.

I compared the weights on Amazon, and I think they're the same. There are two people that said their 1030 sank with it on. I think the hand strap with the tightener will be more than secure enough, but you're right, it would be nice to have some extra security when you're passing it around.
