hi im off to disney in october and i was wondering what wet and wild is like? we will be going to 1 of the waterparks but wet and wild and blizzard beach both look good. any thoughts about either? good or bad! :cheer2:

Hello and welcome to the boards.

I have never been to Wet 'n' Wild, just don't fancy it ;)...but I have been to Blizzard Beach a few times and can only say good things about it.
All of my family love it.

Hi Donna Welcome to the DIS  and Hello from Plymouth!

Just moving this over to Trip Planning.

We have been to wet and wild twice now.

Not as good as bb but good all the same,we wouldn't go to orlando without at least half a day at wet and wild.
It has a little kids area with a small wave pool, slide's,you know the type of thing.A big wave pool and loads of great slide's.

If i had to choose i would go with bb though, but do try and fit in at least half a day at wet and wild.

I've never been to W&W though I gather the slides there are excellent.

The reason I like the WDW waterparks is because they are so much more than just the slides / rides. They are themed beautifully and you are completely immersed in this :)

BB has lots of good slides too, and the longest family raft ride in the world (or so they advertise, LOL)

Welcome to the Dis!

In a nutshell - Wet n Wild have more rides and is good for "Adrenalin Junkies" but the Disney waterparks are much better themed.

Both can get VERY busy at weekends though!

Wet and Wild have lots of rides and it is just like most of the water parks you would visit in Spain. TL and BB have more atmosphere, you can do the rides and just chill.

Ditto.

Wet 'n' Wild is a very good water park with lots of 'thrill' water rides to choose from but BB does have an excellent theme and should not be missed.

I would really try to squeeze both in as unlike BB & Thyphoon Lagoon, BB & WW cannot really be compared to each other.

Blizzard beach = poor , because the water slides are a joke apart from Summit plummet.

Wet n wild = excellent , because it has some of the best water slides around.

Just my opinion though...

thanks for everyones opinion. myself and my family dont usually go on fast rides as we have weak stomachs so thrill rides ar not such a big deal for us. we do like slower family rides though and lots of chilling. :sunny:

Hi Donna, We are also going Oct. Last time we went (Oct03) we did all 3 water parks. All 3 have something for everyone, but I have to say my favorite is Typhoon Lagoon, just for the wave pool alone! Wet N Wild is smaller so it is easier :confused3 to keep an eye on the kids. One thing to note is that late Oct/Nov, Disney sometimes close 1 of the water parks for refurbishment. Best to check timetable before you go.

Hi Donna, just a word of warning BB was shut last Oct and only TL open, I think this is a seasonal thing so don't bank on BOTH the disney parks to be open, we had an excellant time at TL tho' swimming with the sharks was ACE haven't been to wet 'n' wild because thought that having prepaid for 2 waterparks already didn't think that it'd offer much more.

Hiya,

If BB was shut last winter then it will be open this winter and TL will be closed as the 2 water parks have alternate refurb times.

cant wait to go. it will be my 1st time there and my 10 yr old daughter is talking about it constantly. :grouphug:

TL was apparently shut tho'back in Jan/Feb or so I think I read on this board a while ago! So surely they won't shut it down again within the same year??? anyone know? :confused3

It depends. They swapped over what they normally do due to the time it took to build Crush N Gusher at TL last year. I don't think WDW have said if they're going back to "normal" for thsi year or not.

Normally only one is open during the winter but they tend to split it something like BB open mid Oct - mid Dec and then TL open mid Dec to mid March (I've made these dates up as an example) but both are open during the winter, just at different times AFAIK. Last year they swapped aroun the order they did it in:)

IMHO, on a one to one basis both WDW waterparks are far superior days out than WetnWild. WetnWild may have some excellent rides, but for ambience and esthetics the WDW parks are attractive, well thought out and interesting to look at, IMHO WetnWild is a concrete, plastic and steel jungle. It's like comparing a 1960s inner city "redevelopment" towerblock to St Paul's cathederal or the Taj Mahal, the flats may be more functional, but man are they ugly.

It's certainly possible Carol. It depends what WDW decide to do!

Vernon, I am LOL at your description of W&W!!

Sounds like the besp waterpark for you would definately be typhoon lagoon.

The themeing is very nice and they have a long slow lazy river running all the way around.

There are a few fast rides but not like at W&W.

:smooth:

We found BB very nicely themed (we had wanted to go to TL but because we had only a couple of hours free settled for BB as it was closer). Drove past W&W a couple of times on the way to Universal and didn't fancy it much - it is literally right next to the main road, and you could see people walking to and fro from their hotels wrapped in their towels, all looked a bit seedy (but then that's what we tought about I-drive generally).

Even if staying onsite I'd say take the car to save hanging around for the bus when everyone's tired and damp - that way you don't need a locker either as you can just pull on shorts and a t-shirt for the journey and stuff them in a bag under your lounger. Do get something waterproof (we took a DIS water safe and it was brilliant) for your tickets etc. When we went the carpark was fairly empty but it was still very busy inside, so I'd say if the car-park looks full give it a miss and chill by your hotel pool!
