We are planning on going to Typhoon Lagoon on our holiday and wanted to get everyones thoughts on the water parks. We come from a snow ridden place in Canada so Blizzard Beach (although still a water park) the theme did not interest us.

But maybe you feel different... So here are some questions for all of you?

:fish: Which Park is best and why?
:fish: When is it best to schedule a water park trip in your weekly plans?
:fish: What have you learned about the water parks...any tips?
:fish: Did anyone go for the first time at the end of their trip and wish to go again?

Thanks! :dance3: :dance3:

I went to TL last October for the first time and really enjoyed it! My friends even went off to the F&W festival, and I stayed there by myself. I love the lazy river (which circles the perimeter) - I went around three times!

Here's what I figured out:

Get there early to stake out a spot (we found one in the shade) and drop your stuff. Then you can take advantage of the shorter lines on the slides.

Don't take valuables, so you don't have to rent a locker. I just brought enough money to buy a hot dog and drink.

I did rent a towel, though. At $1 each, it was totally worth it not to deal with bringing a wet towel back to the room.

I brought aqua shoes but didn't need them. The pavement wasn't too rough, and it also wasn't hot. I did try wearing them for a while, but had to take them off on the body slides and hold them in front of me. Totally not worth it to bring them.

I used a spray-on waterproof sunscreen. It worked great, and I could easily reapply it myself, even on my back. I used the Coppertone brand - normally I don't like the texture (I use Neutrogena spray-on instead) but the Coppertone one is totally waterproof. You have to scrub it off with a soapy washcloth - that stuff is like cement!

We like Blizzard Beach better my son thinks the slides are better. We usually go in the middle of or trip as a day to relax (at least for me). I agree with ZOZO about water shoes that cement does a job on my feet. get one of those water proof boxes things like a necklace all you need is your pass and room key if you can't charge to your room bring a credit card.

You don't mention when you are going or if you have children and older persons in your party.

We, family, friends and children 4-11, don't really like the really hard core slides that send your bathing suit bottom to parts unknown so we prefer TL. We love the Family Raft ride, the Underwater Reef Snorkling, the Lazy River and a few of the water slides( a few are quite intense). The wave pool is the best! BB is a little too hard core for me and mine. Either park, get there at opening so you can pick where you want to sit (shade), bring your own beach towels if you can (I hate those hotel postage stamp size towels) and plenty of sunscreen. If you are coming in the summer months ( it's in the 90's from Jun-Sept) it's so nice to break up going to the theme parks by hitting a Water park. Amazingly we get there about 9:30-10am and stay till about 3 or 4pm.

What ever park you pick, check out the Warm Baby Donut's w/ Chocolate Sauce at the entrances, OMG:tongue:

hey-
i have only been to typhoon lagoon, but i have heard typhoon lagoon has more 'kiddie' water rides if that applies to you.
tips- Dont bring too much because lockers are really small (even the so called "big" ones) , parking is free, but if you are not there early expect to walk a ways because there are no tram cars to drive you around.
I hope i was a help =)

I AM GOING TO DISNEY IN 9 DAYS!!!! =)

Well I've only been to Blizzard Beach, so I can't answer which one is best. Typhoon Lagoon looks amazing though.

I went to the water park in the middle of the trip. I think that's best because it more of a relaxing day. You can sit in a chair and relax, which you can't really do in the parks. It's a good day to recover from the hectic park days.

I would love to go to the water parks again. I wasn't really expecting much from them, and I had a blast there.

Ok so far great info.

We will be in Florida for the 1st time in 9 more sleeps!!! So I am there with ya Kelly!

I have an 8 year old daughter who will be with me and I am thinking Typhoon Lagoon is definetly more our style. If you have anymore great tips keep em coming!

First of all, you will have a ball which ever WP you go to.

DH and I had gone to TL when it first opened. Then we started going to BB. We love BB and being from Maine we are no strangers to snow. Two trips ago we went back to TL just because we hadn't been in a while. (BTW we do not do a lot of slides.) That visit only convinced us to go back to BB. We love the family tube ride and the chair lift. I do not like the wave pool at TL. When it was 'cranked up' it was way too powerful for me and I scraped my foot on the bottom. We don't have young kids so I can't comment on the kid's areas.

We always plan our WP days as a break between theme park days.

:cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

Yes TL for younger kids is great. And find the time for the big kahoona (sp) My kids screamed so loud when those waves came and they jumped on top of me @ the 1st whooomp!...ok the 2nd time it went off the 1st time they thought it was the same wave pool like @ our YMCA ...it is only a 1-3 foot wave not this monster that comes out @ TL!

Does anyone know if you can bring your child's float suit (neoprene type suit with a thick plastic zipper up the back)? I know you can't have metal on your suit, and that they will give you life jackets for little ones. I prefer to use my own as it also acts as a sunblock. Thanks!

no metal on suits and I saw little ones with their own floatie swimsuits

we were at TL 2 weeks ago and really enjoyed it. I too was NOT interested in the cold theme!!! ds 4 loved it ..they have a little kid section and 2 small slides beside the wave pool. DS13 never left the wave pool!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It was a really nice relaxing day. I chose to do TL after a long night at MK since TL doesn't open until 10!
