waterpark shoes?

Do you need to wear shoes at the water parks and what is the best kind?

We didn't last year and we regretted it. That concrete gets pretty hot in the sun. This year we are taking some inexpensive Walmart water shoes with us.

I second the vote for water shoes. I got inexpensive pairs for everyone at Academy Sports, but I'm sure Walmart would be a great place too. Some members of my family had to get a size bigger than they normally wear because water shoes are on the tight side.

I'd wear water shoes...the first time I went to a waterpark, my feet were in shreds from the concrete. Walmart sells them for around $5. I have also seen people wearing regular socks! It protects your feet, I guess!

We will not be wearing watershoes this year. Last time we wore water shoes to Typhoon Lagoon our feet were in a mess from being in wet shoes all day, I even had a blister. When we went to Blizzard Beach the next week we went barefoot and it was bliss!

We are also Walmart water shoe wearers especially for the kids as they stub their toes or burn their feet without them. When we are having lunch or playing in the sand we just take them off for a bit

We cannot wear them all day. But we do have to have them.
The concret it rough on your feet.

We also bring flip flops or sandles to wear when we are not in the water.

Sign us up for the Walmart water shoe club!! LOL When we went to the waterparks, we were them. Yes, I did feel a bit silly wearing them especially on the lazy river looking at them, but they saved my feet tremendously. The concrete tears up our feet if we don't wear them!!

Does anyone ever wear sport sandals to waterparks? They're designed to be worn in water (or on land) but look more like regular sandals. Wasn't sure if these are allowed.

We are also water shoe wearers. I even bought a cute pair of mickey ones at tl. They are great to walk in and can be worn on most if not all the rides.

Academy has them on clearance for half price $2.49 Now that's a deal that I have not seen at Walmart. I found a nice pair of water sandals for half price for myself, and the water shoes for my boys. We're going to Disney World next month.

For a normal day at the pool, or even Wildwater Kingdom at Dorneypark, we don't usually bother with water shoes. Since we'll be at Disney, and plan to spend much of a day at Typhoon Lagoon, I figured better safe than sorry with hurting feet later. I don't want one afternoon of wet fun to ruin the rest of our week. DH and DD found water shoes for about $7 each at Walmart (I thought they would be on clearance in mid-July, but I was wrong). They look a lot like sneakers, otherwise I doubt DH would have agreed to them. (I can't convince him to wear any kind of sandal, even if the toes are covered, or Crocs). I got my water shoes at Eckerd drugs for $5.

I like to wear my Tevas. They protect your feet and you don't have yucky soggy feet at the end of the day like you do with regular water shoes. Some of the slides you can't wear them though, but that applies to regular water shoes too.

I think crocs are the way to go... most importantly, they are comfortable!

DD and I have been to 2 different water parks this summer and wore our crocs all day. It was WONDERFUL. Feet didn't hurt after riding rides, walking all day, no torn up tootsies from hot concrete, no blisters, and our feet dried immediately after getting out of the water.
They're ugly but SOOOO comfy!

Flip flops are fine for walking around in, but if you wanted to wear them on a ride I think they would fall off!
If you want a little more support, I like the Lands End Sea-to-Shore sport shoes.

You only can't wear swim shoes on high speed slides where you don't use a tube.

They're comfortable, sturdy, and a little more stylish than the Walmart ones. I agree that it feels a little weird wearing them in the water though (and definitely on the lazy river). I guess it takes some getting used to.
