Waterpark in February?

We are planning our first trip to WDW for the last two weeks of February. Will it be hot enough to visit the waterpark? :sunny:

Hi and welcome to the DIS!

You never know what the weather will be like at WDW in February. You could have days near 80 with cool mornings, or you could have mornings near freezing with afternoon highs in the 40s. And both of those things could happen within a day or two of each other!

The pool water is heated but the air is often not heated! But I would bring swimsuits just in case. Plus, if you are going with kids, they don't seem to mind the cold as much!

Enjoy,

Bob

I agree with Bob. We had awesome weather the first two weeks of Feb and were able to fit in a day at Blizzard Beach. We also swam several times at the resort pool. We are going for the same time frame in 2006 and have left the options open, weather depending. We did not pay for the tickets with the water park options as it was not worth the extra money for us. We'd rather pay the water park gate cost and go on a nice hot day if we get one. Bring a little bit of everything and wear layers. We had most days with shorts and tees and a couple days we wore pants and sweaters. We put on pants and jackets every night - it cools down quickly. It also depends on where you are coming from and what your winter is like! Coming from where I am in Canada, anything above 70 is balmy to us in February!

This is our first February trip to Disney ( we usually go in June or July). Thanks for the tips on February weather :sunny:

Depends on what you consider "hot enough" :rotfl2: - every year- no matter the weather, the kids are swimming- and they love the waterparks, no matter what! last year it was cold!

Just so you know, Typhoon Lagoon is closed fo refurb until the last week of February (the 26th or something like that) so you'd only have the option of Blizzard Beach.. I don't want you to plan on TL and have it closed!!

Would Blizzard Beach be OK for a six year old, eight year old, nine year old, and thirteen year old...with their parents...and a fifty five year old grandmother (me)...a fifty eight year old grandfather...and a sixty two year old great aunt? :rotfl: :Pinkbounc :cool1: I PROMISED the grandchildren we would go to a water park this time when we go in February..... :grouphug: I hope we don't freeze...I told my sister (the 62 year old great aunt) we were going no matter what.... :p :rotfl: :bounce: :sunny:

There are many different things at BB to do, and each age group should be able to find something they like. Tikes Peak is great for younger ones. They have their own pools, their own slides, pop jets and fountains.

Weather can really go either way. One year we roasted, another we wore wool coats. Let's hope for a happy medium!

For me..it's not the temperature of the water, but rather if I want my very white body in a bathing suit out in public in February! Something tells me the general public would be happier if they never saw that sight!

Let's hope for good weather for your trip...lots of sun and warm temps!

June

I live about an hour and 1/2 north of WDW and it totally depends on the year. I went to WDE for New Years this year and have to say it was suprisingly warm. It has been really nice here all this week but tonight it is suposed to get really cold (they are expecting a little below freezing in my county - Marion). I would take your suits and play it by ear. Have fun visiting the Mouse! :)

I have to comment on this, because statements like this really make me sad. I had a good friend who would never take her kids swimming because SHE refused to wear a swimsuit because people would look at her thighs. First of all she was "normal" sized and I am Pooh sized so that upset me anyway. I tried to convince her that if she was that worried then she should remember that she was with me and I am 75 lbs heavier than her so if someone is going to make comments about thunder thighs they will be about me--they won't notice her, except to wonder where I got such a skinny friend. . .

But second, as a member of the general public I would like to announce that:

I AM NOT LOOKING AT YOU!

I couldn't care less how fat, skinny, white, brown, wrinkled. flabby, etc... that you are! I am busy with my family having a great time. Unless you are a 300 lb guy in a speedo--or a 300 lb woman in a string bikini-- or have tattoos covering 90% of your body-- the chances are really good that I am not going to notice you! (I didn't say I would say anything, or care if you are in one of the aforementioned groups--I just said I would notice you--no flames please!) If I do look in your direction I hope it is because I am noticing how much fun you are having!

And further, why do you care what I, or any other perfect stranger that you will NEVER see again , think about your body type???

Please realize I am not really directing this toward "June Cleaver", but to everyone that decides to put their's, and their family's happiness aside because of a shallow concern that really is more in their own head. It really upset me that my friend refused to join us at the pool, greatly disappointing her kids, simply because she wouldn't put on a suit.

If you take a minute to discreetly look around, you will always see that there is someone smaller, larger, whiter, darker, or with a worse haircut than you!

Don't sweat the small stuff (but wear deodorant!). Dress reasonably for how God made you, and don't let the thoughts of strangers ruin your fun!

Off my soap box now!

We will go to the waterparks if it is over 60. The last time we went all of the lifeguards had windpants and sweatshirts on/. we onlt saw about 20 other people there. We had a blast! We are from the Boston area and my kids are little polar bears.

I agree !. I say GO, GO, GO. ::yes:: We are from Michigan and we go to WDW every Feb (pres wkend). We enjoy at least 4-5 days at the resort pool - most years it has been awesome (70s) Never had a day it was too cold to enjoy the FLorida sunshine.

This will be our first year going to a waterpark. We wouldn't miss it for anything...okay, maybe if its like 40-50 degrees....but the kids are so looking forward to it. I figure if we can stand outside in line at the "local" water park here in Michigan, in a July very cold rainstorm just to ride the NEW water slide, then we can endure 60-70 Florida weather for the day.

ENJOY !

lovetoscrap...I love it! My families enjoyment is much more important than what anyone is thinking.

We also are going in Feb. and I hope to get to BB. DH and I plan on taking ds9 and dd7 (we will let ds4 decide if he wants to come with or nap in the room with dd2, grandma & Aunt) on a warm afternoon. :sunny:

In Febuary the weather is usually great! around mid 70's!! :sunny: :cool2:
(well, it's warm for a Minnesotan) But, the weather does vary. So if you see if it's gonna be 75, 80 degrees then definetly go!!!

:sunny: :sunny: :sunny: I'll cross my fingers 4 good weather 4 U GUYS!! :sunny: :sunny: :sunny:
