Waterpark? 4 & 7year old

I am trying to deceid on waterpark tickets...we are traveling in Oct (1st maybe 2nd week staying 7 nights) I can't make up my mind on these. I am figuring it will still be warm enough there to want to be wet? Also my 3 year old (turns 4 Oct 4th) is currently 38 in tall. So I figure we might gain an inch or so...can he ride many of the waterpark rides? He did not get the "fear" gene so the only thing holding him back will be the height restrictions. We don't like to split up too much, prefer to all ride together. Any guidance on either of the waterparks would be much appreciated!

I'm sure you'll get lots of conflicting advice, but here's what we decided:

This is our kids' first trip ever, and we're staying at the Polynesian in August.
We decided to skip the water parks. Here's why:

The Volcano pool looks SO cool!!!!

We already have 4 parks to get to in 7 days, including daily trips back to the Poly for the volcano pool. I don't want to squeeze in more parks.

It's an extra $250 or so for my family that we could better spend elsewhere.

Again, each of us has our own opinions; my sister is taking her kids in July for the 1st time and she is going to the water parks. But I think my kids will have the time of their lives without it.

We went to Blizzard Beach for the first time when DD#2 was 4. Tike's Peak was a great area for her and she had the time of her life. She's a pretty average size kid and she was tall enough for Teamboat Springs, the excellent family raft ride. She also liked the wavepool, but stayed pretty close to shore and away from most of the actual waves. DD#1 was 10 at the time, so DH stayed with #2 and I went to other stuff with #1. Still, it was one of the best days of the trip for us and when we went back last year (DD#2 now 5) it was even better.

If you don't want to split up, I'd skip the water park because your elder child may get bored on the little kid stuff. We buy one day water park tickets and it comes to about $150 or so for the 4 of us.

Thank you! And the poster above as well. I was afraid of this because looking at the rides online they looked a little much for a 4 year old. We too can use that extra $250 for something else!

Took 4 1/2 yr old neice to Typhoon Lagoon in Feb - she loved it!! She was able to do most everything at 42", most of the slides didn't have height restrictions. She is just beginning to swim (swims with her head down and can make it a few feet). We sent grandma down the slides first, then my neice. Grandma had to stand back from the slide but was there to guide and help if emergency arouse. There is at least one slide that you ride a large tube/raft together, that requires no swimming. They have a wave pool and floating river that any age can enjoy too. Hope this helps with your decision.

I used to be a lifeguard at Blizzard Beach and I would definately say that if you are taking a little one (under 42 inches) to a water park, Blizzard Beach is the one you're going to want to go to... there is more there for kids to do. But I also agree with other posters in saying that if you don't want to split up your family, you may want to not do a water park at all. It's pretty slow in October and the water IS heated, but it does still get cold. I would personally just stick to planning time for pool swimming at your resort. But that's just my 2 cents!
