I wish people on this board would quit saying this is OK. It's not! It's against the rules. It's no fun having your things and trip ruined by someone who couldn't follow the rules. In addition if people continue to abuse the rules Disney will crack down and not allow any beverages to be brought on board. Really, how hard is it to carry on (rolling luggage works well for this), buy on board or drink the water on board?

I couldn't agree more! For those that say that everybody break rules sometimes, therefore you shouldn't complain, it's a different story. Water has can impact other guests cruise, just because you are lazy.

I think the Evian they sell on board tastes terrible. I bring my own bottles.

Make sure you rinse the water from you taps on the first day you get to your room. On one of my Magic cruises my tap ran brown water for about a minute. It ran clear after that, but I did not use it for drinking after that. Even the finest water run through dirty/rusty/old pipes will be bad. The Magic and wonder are getting old, and with my experience, I prefer not to drink from their taps.

AGREED! This is really the bottom line.

FWIW, I ordered a ~$40+ case of water for our upcoming cruise and we bring our refillable water bottles too.

I ask the question about people actually getting the cases of water delivered to their stateroom because this topic continually gets brought up and there are always people who say they do it. So my question is, not if it's right or wrong, but if people actually get the water delivered. I guess the people who do may not say so. Disney (more so the parks side) is pretty well known to look the other way when it comes to enforcing their own rules. So, while I don't plan on trying to get around the rules, it really irritates me that Disney *may* actually deliver water cases when the rest of us are paying to follow the rules.

I did hear of one story where someone had liquid in their luggage.

Their luggage didn't show up at their room until late that night because it was set aside and detained for a while because they broke the rules.

I don't know the logistics of what happened but it wouldn't be worth it to risk not getting your luggage and needing it.

wow, i didnt know it had to be carried on. In past cruises ive always put a few bottles of water in each suite case, but never needed no where near a 24 pack.

Ill be sure to carry them on next cruise, i assume wine would need to be carried on to than

Sorry, don't get the water issue. There is plenty of free water on board. Bring one water bottle per person and just keep refilling either on a Deck 9 or in the spa. I saw a family carry on 24 bottles of water in venice recently...for the Greek cruise. A waste of money and space. But that's just me,

All beverages must be carried on.

If you think liquid can't cause damage, please see my post from today that has a picture of a package that I almost wasn't able to receive because liquid of some sort (my personal theory is the UPS driver's coffee, but it could have been badly packaged liquid that had a container break issue) of liquid spilled over and ruined the scanner code on the label. The only way they were able to get it to me was that the shipper had put tape over my address. The package contained things I HAVE to have for participation in the races on my almost-here HAL cruise, and no extras were ordered by the organizers as this is clearly not an event where people can sign up at an expo or day-of, so if a) that address hadn't been covered in tape or b) it hadn't been put in a plastic envelope that protected the contents it could have been bad news bears. All because one way or another someone was careless with liquid.

Ugh, I saw the photo, I'm so sorry that happened to you. Thankfully it ended up being delivered and ok. Of course it's not ok for anything to be damaged, but races as in running stuff? NO ONE messes with my running stuff :goodvibes

To be honest the water out of the tap is excellent and is made the same way many bottled waters are made. We bring 1, 6 pack of bottled water and then refill from the tap. Please note you have to carry on the water, not allowed to put it in checked luggage. The carry on must also fit though a standard airport scanner and then you have to carry it around until your cabin is ready. Have a great cruise. AKK

These water discussions always amuse me, and find it funny how everyone becomes a chemist and expert.... while I am 100% sure that the water on board is completely safe for eating and drinking, otherwise I wouldn't go on board and eat or drink anything....that doesn't mean bottled water is a waste...

While you could go and refill a container from the beverage station, you would also need to clean that container throughout your cruise, otherwise that clean water wouldn't be so clean anymore from stuff in the air or some slight backwash so you'll probably need to carryon some cleaning agent, and something to clean it with. And find a place to clean it....You'll also need to store that cleaning instrument in a place that likewise can't get any airborne germs or other bacteria on it, taking up rather important space in your stateroom to dry everything out... Then what if you are a night drinker and need water at night, do you really want to run all the way out to the beverage station for some water, maybe you do what others have posted and refill from the bathroom, technically the same clean water, oh but wait while I'm confident in the food prep area and the beverage station, those pipes and water lines are probably cleaned out from time to time... The plumbing line in your bathroom ehhh I'm guessing not so much...

Look my point is that for those who drink a lot of water During the day, the convenience of being able to quickly grab a bottle of water at night or on your way out to an excursion is worth it or just a cold bottle out of the fridge on a hot carribean day works for some....And the alternative does require extra effort while you are on vacation where time is precious....and carrying all of those supplies needed like bottles and cleaners does take up space in your carryon and valuable shelf space in your bathroom, So before dismissing bottled water simply bc you feel the water tastes fine, that isn't the ONLY reason, for some it maybe and that's ok too....

We do take a case of water with us it works for us well and will do it again. Just don't put any liquids in your checked luggage.

Now if you insist on refilling water on board please for your own sake buy a refillable container don't just reuse empty disposable bottles they aren't intended to be used that way

With all due respect, If you wish to bring your water.....that fine.....enjoy. Myself and others were pointing out that the water onboard was fine and made just like many bottled waters are, a statement and information not requiring a chemist or expert, just someone who has read about the subject.

If this information helps others... great as well, then they can make there own informed determination on what they wish to do!

Yep! I'm a week away from flying to Seattle for the Great Alaskan Running Cruise!! (Sadly NOT on DCL...but I get to experience HAL...and see Alaska with a cool group of people!!) And this was our event-specific stuff.

What's funny is that anything that follows with all due respect typically doesn't have any...

Yes I bring water and enjoy it. But that isn't the point, it makes zero impact on me if anyone else does or not.....the funny thing about water topics is that in almost every thread about it, just like this one the op doesn't ask about the water quality on board. Here they asked if there is bottled water on board and if not can they bring it... But something about water always brings out unsolicited advice unrelated to the original question....

It would be like someone starting a thread asking about the rooms at the Hyatt mco bc they heard its convenient and everyone else responding with the opinion that you should stay at xyz bc they have beds just like the Hyatt... But you wouldn't bc it's unrelated, in that case it's ok to choose the higher price for the convenience.... But something about water won't let those who choose not to drink bottled water to stay silent on a topic and feel they need to preach their beliefs on others....

I think you mistake our reasoning for mentioning the ship's water. I say something because many cruisers don't know how good the water on board is. It is natural to assume that the water is no different than that in a resort on land, but it is. If I can save even one fellow cruiser the bother of lugging bottled water on board it's worth it to me to say something. Those who still want to bring bottled water can certainly do so.
