Just wondering from those that have come back the past couple days how the water temp was in CC? Dont want to book snorkeling (Rigid Hull) if I"m going to be miserably cold trying to snorkel. My husband would enjoy the cold water temps but I dont :-P thanks in advance as we sail in a few days and will be CC on Saturday.

Reports have been water is chilly, kids are in swimming, moms - not so much.

Of course what is chilly in Bahamas may very well be normal summer water temperatures in Canada.

I checked a couple websites recently that said low to mid 70s. We're going in 2 weeks and bringing wetsuits.

We were there on February 3rd and found the water just fine. Yes, its cooler than you'd find in the middle of summer but its really not bad once you get in.

Was there Saturday and the ship said it was 76 deg. Cold for many, not bad for Northerners!:-)

Was just on CC on Sunday, February 21st. Water was great, we hung out in the Serenity bay area. Only complaint was maybe the shallowness of the water, but it wasn't cold at all.

We were there on 1/31. We brought wetsuits and we're glad we did! (Keep in mind I'm from Florida so anything below 80 is freezing lol)

Thanks for all the responses. Considering its snowing right this very minute here in Colorado, it may be fine but I think we will save signing up for the rigid hull snorkel for our september cruise where its going to be warm enough. Plus being our first time, might as well just sit back and relax and just snorkel in the area we can for the price of renting them . Do you have to reserve a snorkel set ahead of time?

We're currently in the same boat! ;) Enjoying this CO snow, but looking forward to warm beaches.

No you do not have to reserve equipment beforehand.

Has anyone experiences the water around May? How was it? Just curious,! Have no idea what to expect for our 1st cruise coming up :)

Last Friday the water was cool and shallow.
The tide was as low as I ever seen.

We went at the beginning of May two years ago. The water felt cold when we first got in, but once we got used to it, it was fine. We didn't like the getting in and out of the water for the slides (you were having to continually adjust to the water), but we were fine when we switched to snorkeling.

The water temperature wasn't too terrible, but it was too windy to really enjoy the water.

We were just in CC 2/14. Not even my kids went into the water. I at least put my toes in. Gorgeous to look at the water, but really cold.

This is one of those highly subjective topics. The record low water temperature in the region of Castaway Cay is 72.
Is that cold? You tell me. My gym keeps there outdoor pool at 73 in the winter, and I've been swimming twice a week for that past 9 months, and I say that is not cold.
But I'm in California where swimming season starts when the water in the pool hits 68.

LOL, so true. But, there were only a handful of people in the water (out of the thousands on the cruise), so I think that on average, most found it too cold.

Personally, I need my water to be 82+ degrees.

I just booked the 4/29 sailing on the Dream today. I'm afraid it's going to be too cold but we bought wet suits for our 1/31 cruise so we'll just bring them again. Lol

We almost always cruise in June, and I still find CC water temps to be a bit on the cold side. Not unpleasant once you get in and get used to it, but I always wish the water was about 5° warmer. We are from Louisiana, so our definition of "cold" may be skewed.

Now, the water temp in Trunk Bay on St. John = perfect.
