I would like to know if the water taxi from MGM to Epcot is quicker than taking a bus. We are park hopping and want the fastest and best way to get to Epcot.
Thanks

The boat takes about 20-25 minutes because it stops at Swan/Dolphin, Yacht/Beach Club, and Boardwalk on the way to Epcot. I haven't taken the bus, so I don't know which is faster. :)

I believe it's about a 20-30 minute ride from MGM to all those resorts. Then about a 15 minute ride to Epcot from there. I've never taken the bus, but that should help a little. You can always walk from any of the resorts if the trip is taking too long. It's just over a few bridges and is very easy to navigate.

Its not quicker that Im sure of but its a very scenic, I would say do it atleast once.. I had never seen the boardwalk or anything until I took the boat from MGM to EP..

And if you are a fast walker, you can even beat the boat. Although, we've never tried it anytime except December... might not want to race it if you'll be there in the hot months.

I could be wrong, but seems like the walk is 1.2 miles or there abouts... anybody remember?

As far as the bus vs. boat goes... what part of Epcot are you wanting to see? The boat takes you to the International Gateway (between Great Britain and France on the World Showcase) and the bus would take you to the main entrance (by Spaceship Earth).

The boat takes almost exactly 30 minutes from MGM dock to Epcot International Gateway dock (that includes the 3 interim stops along the way).
The boats have engine "governors" and I have timed the trip many times.

The bus takes about 10-12 minutes (depending on traffic and "lights") from the MGM bus stop to Epcot bus stop.
Then it is another 5 minute walk from that bus stop to Epcot's front gates.

You need to consider that either vehicle must be waiting and boarded.
And if you just "miss" one, it will be up to 15 minutes before the next one arrives.

We have taken either many times.

If you want to go to World Showcase, take the BOAT (or walk).
If you want to go to the front of Future World , take the BUS.

My husband is unable to walk for ruptured discs in his back so walking anywhere will not work. I didn't realize the boats stoped at the resorts and past the boardwalk. We will be celebrating our 25th anniversary when we are there in Sept. so the boat seems quite romantic. Besides it's world showcase that we are most interested in seeing, so the boat will be perfect.
Thanks for all the inforamtion it has been very helpful. pixiedust:

Not fast but a great way to get to EPCOT. Jump in and enjoy the ride :)

Congrats on the 25 years   . Something that I do not think was mentioned is that when we rode the boat last Sept--I thought I would have a heat stroke. I was hotter on the boat than ANYWHERE in the parks. I had one of the spray water misters and was trying to keep DD coo. The back of my legs were sweating, my back was sweating, my DS looked like he had just finished a soccer game by the time we got to Epcot.

It is something that you HAVE TO DO ONCE. . . . but I would most definately recommend it during the WINTER!!!
