Hi everyone,
I was just wondering what the water quality is like on DCL (specifically the Fantasy)? Can you drink from the tap? Is water included at the fountain stations? What is the cost of bottled water?
I'm sure these are silly question but I've never cruised before, so I have no idea!
Thanks!!!

The water onboard (all water, whether it's the ice in the ice bucket; water used preparing food; direct from the tap) is processed the same as many bottled waters (reverse osmosis and filtered). Yes, you can drink it from the tap. Yes there is a "water" spigot at the drinking stations. Bottled water onboard is quite pricey (something like $24 for 6 bottles). We bring our refillable water bottles onboard and just fill up in the room.

The tap water is safe to drink. It is filtered and tastes pretty good, better than Florida water. There are people who report that they retain water when drinking the ship's water, but I've never had that happen. There is water at the drink stations. I can't tell you the cost of bottled water but I know it isn't cheap. If you prefer to, you could carry on a case of water. You just can't put it in or with your checked luggage.

I think the water on board and in Florida Taste awful. They sell a pack of water the first day for like 35$. We brought some on board the first year & some at Ports.

Otherwise.... stop by Costco or your fav grocer to grab a case that will fit your carry-on. You are allowed to carry unlimited bevvies that will fit your carry-on. They just introduced a alcohol limit, but I haven't heard of a water limit in your carry-on.

You are not the first not to like the taste of the water on board. The reason is simple, it's too pure. Most of us are used to drinking water with chlorine and minerals in it. There is a touch of chlorine, but otherwise no minerals. Funny, you get the best water you'll ever get on board but it may taste different than what you are used to.

They will try, multiple times, to sell you packs of bottled water on embarkation day. I find it a little annoying how much they push it, especially since a.) it's super-expensive and b.) the tap water is just fine.

I don't consider nearly distilled water to be the best water for drinking. We need minerals, and minerals are what make different water taste different!

LOL. I suspect the FOOD is the reason for that. Primarily the salt.

So...those who don't experience swelling when they bring their spring water are actually fasting during the cruise, but aren't mentioning it?

LOL.

No. Being logical....

Eating the ship's food and drinking ship water = swelling for some of us.

Eating the ship's food and drinking bottled spring water = much much less swelling.

Stop pretending like those of us who have a problem do NOT have a problem. I promise that I'm not fasting on any cruises. Food is NOT the reason for those of us who do have a problem with the weird ship water.

TVGUY, is correct.

People on cruises eat too much and have too much salt it's the salt that can swell legs, the body inst used to it, the water is good and not the issue, people may blame it but water us water it doesn't cause swelling.

Over eating, over using salt is the cause.

Fountain sodas including diet drinks in excess cause Medical problems as well, whilst it has low or no calories the body doesn't know what to do with it.

10. Drink Up!

Excess salt is a big contributor to swelling, and upping your fluid intake can help dilute the salt in your system. Aim for 8-10 glasses of water per day to flush things out. Even better? Try making cucumber-lemon water! Just drop a couple of cucumber and lemon slices in your glass, and enjoy! Both of these fruits have anti-inflammatory properties, so if gives that water an extra swelling-fighting punch!

LOL. WE BOTH KNOW IT'S IMPOSSIBLE FOR IT TO BE THE WATER. HIGH SODIUM LEVEL WATER, SURE, NO SODIUM, NO WAY. :)
