Hi all! It’s 12 years since I was last at Disney and we’re back in Sept celebrating our 35th wedding anniversary with the family. Our son’s partner is autistic so we had a long chat about potential triggers and it’s very much related to touch (Tough to be a Bug is not on the list this trip!) and they won’t be able to cope with wet clothes. I’m trying to remember which rides you might get wet on apart from Kali River Ride & Tianas Bayou Adventure . I know the heat makes getting wet feel lovely but it’s hard to explain that to someone who’s never been before. Which rides do I need to prepare them for?
Sorry if this is in wrong forum please feel free to move/remove or ignore as appropriate.

Your son’s partner may find this Sensory Details information helpful:

SENSORY EXPERIENCE DETAILS

A new document to help guests plan is the Sensory Experience Details. It covers these items for each attraction, show, parade, fireworks, etc. at WDW - including all 4 theme parks and Disney Springs:

While it's not marked on that list as wet (even though the description says squirting water) I would add Remy to the list of rides you get wet on. It's not a lot, but it's enough that you notice it.

The only real wet rides are Tiana's Bayou Adventure and Kali River Rapids - on the latter it is possible to get absolutely soaked. You can get a little wet on Pirates of the Caribbean sometimes if a cannonball splashes you. Some shows do spritz a little water at you - Philharmagic and Muppet-Vision do this, but it is not substantial. If you sit toward the very front at Fantasmic! it is possible to end up quite wet if the wind is toward you. The water-screens make for a pretty good rain while they are on. This is hit-or miss though and if you sit back a few rows it is not an issue at all.

Often you’re told to fill in all available space. Chances of someone touching you are pretty good. We usually form a human shield around my son.

"snow" bubbles during Frozen Show at DHS, Frozen at Epcot is like Pirates in MK, I think some of the walking trails in AK have misting fans, Navi=Pirates

Is a poncho an option? I use disposable ponchos on Splash Mountain (haven’t been on Tiana version yet) and even Kali River Rapids. I don’t enjoy being wet in general and I enjoy the wet rides with a poncho. They cost $1 each and I just toss away. Sometimes people will ask me for mine as I’m about to throw it out. lol.

Also, shoes like Crocs that can be wiped dry with a napkin work too if they don’t like wet feet.

My DGD (6) HATES getting sprayed with water - rides with issues were Frozen, Remy, Aladdin's Carpets (one of the camels sprays), Pirates. We learned how to anticipate the sprays and splashes and "protect" her. Tiana's was not open when we visited and she wouldn't try Kali.

Thanks everyone for your kind replies - hadn’t even considered Fantasmic could be an issue. I might suggest a poncho for some of the rides and maybe be prepared with a change of clothes just in case. Think they were planning to wear crocs anyway.
You’ve all helped me to reassure me, I was getting worried about them but feel a lot happier now. Can’t have anyone not enjoy Disney! DIS people are the best xx

Also, remember that Kali has free lockers that you can use, so if you wanted to like change into flip-flops jsut for that ride you could stowe your socks and shoes then change back.

Fantasmic! is only an issue if you are in the first three or four rows - I believe they are marked. I have sat down front before though and did get a bit wet. It only feels like a light misting, but it adds up.

I got soaked on Pirates of the Caribbean drops. Keep in mind it can happen on Pirates of the Caribbean.

Especially if sitting closest to the edge. The drops aren't usually too bad but it can depend on how the boat is waited. Random cannonballs can always get you though. I wouldn't call it soaked, but it can be a good amount of water. The seats are often wet too, so you're sitting in it.
