Water ride DSLR protection

Heading out to Universal Studios for a day this year and wanting to get some photos with my DSLR - Typically, as it's more of a thrill ride park, I'll just use my cell phone camera or my olde point and shoot digital elph but I'd like to get some nice shots of Diagon Alley this time.

I'm not planning on actually taking photos on the water rides (I don't think ) but I would like to take the camera on the ride so I wouldn't have to find a locker. I've got a canvas bag with an inner lining I usually use as a camera holder and that does a pretty good job against the rain but the bag would have to be with me on the ride and probably at my feet where the water would collect. There's only 2 rides I can think of that'll be problematic (that we'd ride) - Jurassic Park and Popeye's barges.

Whaddya'll use?

Maybe I'll just get a large ziplock baggie...

What camera do you have? Large Ziplock is probably what I'd do if I didn't have a weather sealed camera.

Idea for Jurassic Park - use the free lockers at Harry Potter which is pretty much just next door. The wait times at HP are always longer than JP so you'll have enough time to store your DSLR, do the ride and come back

Otherwise the ziplock bag sounds like a good idea. Or a waterproof dry bag.

Canon 6D with either a 24-70 or a 16-35 (the 16-35 is lighter/smaller so I like carrying it around but I might want the zoom from the 24-70 - I only plan on bringing one to US though)

According to Canon the camera is dust and weather resistant, and both lenses are weather resistant (while attached to a weather resistant body), I'd bet, as long as the camera and lenses weren't submerged, they'd do fine.

Word of warning - the old Jaws ride 'ate' my dslr. It was in a camera bag beneath my knees on the ride when I got hit by a big splash (right at the the end). When I got off the ride the camera was soaked and dead.

Popeye is a real soaker. You will be 100% dripping wet and soaked through as if you just jumped into a pool with your clothes on. You could use the storage space in the center but why risk it? Pay the $4 for the locker right next to the ride so that you can relax and not worry about it while you enjoy yourself. While you're at it, put your shoes in there and slip into your flip flops for the ride.
