Water quality?

The smell and taste of water at the Disney resorts used to be disgusting; we ALWAYS bought bottled water for making coffee in the room in the morning. However, over the past few years I don't remember noticing the water smelling badly. Has anyone tasted the water in the hotel rooms recently, or noticed that funny, bad smell the water used to have? I'm trying to decide if I should have water shipped to the room, bring a Brita filter, or just not worry about my morning coffee!

I was the same. For many years never liked the taste or smell of the water - even for coffee. Years ago we would put an order in for a few things, go to Publix (if we had our car) or one of my kids with their families always put an order in and I ordered a case.

The last few trips, I did not notice the smell or bad taste at all but still preferred my own.

I just got back last week. I really wanted a case of water - not sure it was worth ordering (water and sunscreen). I would have loved to find someone arriving at the same resort and pay them for the water if they were putting an order in.

I brought an empty water bottle from home (with two ounces of water/so I could throw it out after a day or two). My cousin and I each ordered one or two kids' meals - I usually do anyway. We kept the small bottles. We both need water in the evening and the morning for medication.

I would put the water through the coffee machine (throw first one out and I always wash the coffee pot first). Let it cool off and then refrigerate. It worked for us great. There are also water filled stations spread around. Of course, I could not figure out how to use it and never bothered to ask someone. I might for my next trip coming up soon.

I just get some water from the foodcourt dispensers the night before to keep in our room if we want to make coffee super early. I don’t mind the taste of that.

Monorail resorts water is still stinky, IMO. Epcot resorts seem to be fine.

I grew up in Florida, I feel like it's just "Florida Water"......I live in Atlanta now, and the water tastes great, but people say they don't like it.....all about perception

We just got back from Riverside a couple of days ago and the water from the tap tasted fine. I thought it was pretty good, actually. It was also chilled.

I’ve never seen a study where Florida doesn’t rank in the top 10 worst states for drinking water, often landing in the top 5. People might say it’s "fine," but it’s definitely not. The reason it doesn’t smell as bad isn’t because it’s filtered any better or worse, but because the water is no longer treated with chlorine.

We always bring our Brita water bottles so we just use the tap water each day but the filter helps with the gross water. Still think it's gross. Feel it in the showers too.

Our first stop on the way to the resort to check-in is a stop at Publix for water and other snacks. I remember thinking that even though the water isn't great, it surely wouldn't be bad for coffee. Switched from making coffee with tap water to bottled water, and it was noticeably better with the Publix water. I started this routine years ago, it's possible the water has improved and I just haven't noticed.

I do refill the empty bottles with tap water and freeze them to take in to the parks and I don't mind sipping on that as it melts.

I have never heard anyone complain about a chlorine smell. Usually they complain about a slightly sulfuric or musty smell. It’s just minerals in the water, but it does taste better if it’s filtered out. It doesn’t hurt you, but if it’s not filtered it does affect the taste of coffee or tea. The community well for our neighborhood has a filtration system on it and the tap water is fine, but I still take bottled water with me when staying in a Florida hotel because you never know whether you will get decent water or not.

I usually have bottled water left after hurricane season and that’s how I use it up.

Stayed at POLY in August.
It still didn't taste good but it doesn't bother me nearly as much as it bothers my sister.
She refuses to drink the water and has to have bottled.
