water parks?

Has anyone taken time from their Disney vacation to spend time at one of the water parks? pros/cons? thank you

During my visit, I took out a day to visit Typhoon Lagoon. I wasn't completely impressed. Overall, the atmosphere was very relaxing. I thought the rides were mostly ok though. However, there were a few that stood out such as Crush'n'Gusher, Humunga Kowabunga, and the Wave Pool. My boyfriend loved TL. Also, I talked to other guests during my stay and the majority seemed to favor TL over Blizzard Beach.

If you decide to visit, come early in the morning. TL was crowded very early when I went. It will also help to look over a map before you go in order to become familiar with the layout. I didn't bother to do that and lost time trying to figure out where I wanted to go.

I can't speak on Blizzard Beach since I haven't visited yet, but I heard that it's more for people who like thrill rides. I guess that would explain Summit Plummet

We go in August and always take a day or two to go to the water parks. We like Blizzard Beach more than TL, just our preference. It is quite a work-out climbing up all the stairs to the top of some of the slides, but it's always one of our favorite days of the vacation, especially when it's so hot out! We went once in March and we're freezing walking around in wet bathing suits. Summer is much better

i have been to typhoon lagoon twice and Blizzard beach once in my 3 trips to disney.

BB was alright, it might have helped if it was not 60 degrees when we went. but TLis our main WP choice. we will be going back in may!

We usually do both water parks whilst we are there, but we are there for about 3 weeks so have plenty of time. If the weather was warm enough we would always do a water park even if there for just a week. Blizzard Beach is our favourite so if we did just one, that would be our one. We like to get a cabana too, makes it a very relaxing day.

We love the down time, feel that it's a relaxed day rather than the go go go feel of a park day. I even enjoy a read of a book. I love sitting and going around the lazy river. We always get there on opening to make the most of the day.

We're planning on a day at TL in early May. Then we'll go to MK that evening to use FP and see Wishes. I think FP makes it easier to plan evening touring.

Last visit we spent a morning at BB. It was very nice.

Last year we visited in April and went to both water parks. (kids 7&3) We all loved them and said we will only visit Disney when it's warm enough for the water parks. There was a lot for my 3 year old to do which was great too. My kids, hubby also, could have stayed all day. There is a lot of going up steps and hills for the tall slides, but they are fun! Tide pool was a little too rough for us. We didn't stress too much on our seating. We found a few chairs, put down our things, and just stopped there to regroup every now and again. Oh, bring towels from the hotel bc you have to pay to rent them there.

We did both parks on last year's August trip. Very fun . None of us were super stuck on the Blizzard Beach theme (we are northerners, though, so we have enough of the real stuff all winter that I honestly don't want to see any snow on my summer vacation to Florida). As a result, we definitely preferred the lush tropical vibe of Typhoon Lagoon vs. BB. And the wave pool at TL is fantabulous!

If you go in the morning, how long do you usually stay?

When my dd and I went we stayed from open to close. It was a nice break from the busyness of the parks. Still lots of people but not as much moving around.

My one word if advice is to stay well hydrated. We didn't drink quite enough water and my dd had a sore tummy by the time we left as it was just a little too much sun.

We love both and so we do both every trip. BB has a better area for preteens though and better containment for toddlers. However, the Wave Pool cannot be missed at TL

We have never done any of the water parks, but will be staying for 13 days this summer, and have the Water Parks Fun and more addition to our tickets, so thanks all for your reviews and opinions. I think TL is on our list of things to do this time around.

My family loves water parks and we make it a point to go every time we are in WDW. It's a nice, relaxing place to take a break from the heat and crowds in the parks.

Whether BB or TL is better is an entirely subjective thing. Personally, I love TL and don't have any desire to go back to BB. I think it's the atmosphere I don't like. I have fair skin and burn really easily, if I don't have a base tan going and I found that BB offers very, very little shade. It's a ski resort theme which may appeal to those who have never been, or haven't often been, to a ski resort. We have ski resorts locally and go often so the theme really doesn't appeal to me. Plus, they have all these concrete "snow banks" that are painted white which means the sun just bounces off them. The steps to the attractions are just metal staircases and there is no sand anywhere and very little foliage.

TL has sand all over the place and lush, tropical foliage that offer tons of shade all over the place giving shade which I appreciate and the ques have all kinds of fun water spouts and fun themed displays to look at. It's just all around a better experience in my opinion.

I love the water parks just as much as the four major parks. We typically go for two weeks and go to the water parks for four days. It's so fun and relaxing. TL is my favorite but BB is fun too. BB has a chair lift to take you to the top so you don't have to walk all the way up. I would highly recommend going to either one.
