Hi everyone! I am planning our 1st family trip to Walt Disney World for May 2007  and am wondering if I should add the water parks to our package. Alittle background it will be me, dh, dd4, dd1, dd10. I am worried that their really isn't that much for my dd4 and dd1. Any help would be great. Thanks!

We thought the same thing and then added waterparks a few years ago. They are now our favorite. If you kids enjoy water & swimming, it's the way to go. They have wonderful children areas for the little ones. The Lazy River's are a hit with any age.

Either park is fun. But your 10yo would probably really love the preteen area at Blizzard Beach. You 4yo would really love the slides in that area. They are big enough for a 4yo, but small enough that parents aren't too nervous. The whole family could go on the Teamboat Springs family raft ride.

We usually go first thing in the morning and have the first 2-3 hours with absolutely no lines. Get there when they first open.

Give me a day at a Disney Water Park in the cool refreshing water over a hot day at a theme park any time.

They are set up similar to the other Disney parks, there is something for every age group and every thrill level.

We usually try to put them as an entire day trip in between the theme parks. They are a little more relaxing than theme parks and help us recharge for the next theme park!

Our Daughters, 5 and 18mos love the Tike's Peak area at BB. We have annual water passes, and they both have a blast!

We went last year in May and it was pretty warm out and to be honest with you we spent more time at the water parks than in the regular parks. Our plan this year is to go to the water parks or the pool in the morning and the regular parks at night.

I WOULD SAY GET IT!!!

We went with dd5, ds4 and ds 5 months last year, and they all had a blast. We too weren't sure if we would get our money's worth, but we went to BB and had a great time. Tike's Peak was really age appropriate for our two older ones...they had slides but slid into very shallow water.

The only drawback I had was that to get back up to the slides they have to climb this hill, where they were out of sight for a few seconds...I didn't like that. We stationed one adult at the top and one at the bottom.

Not sure how it will go this year with our 16 month old and only two adults but we will try it again since the two kids love, love, loved it! :thumbsup2

I say you've got to try it! The Disney waterparks are just beautiful! I've been to other water parks like Six Flags & Dorney Park....they don't compare. Disney waterparks are in a class all by themselves. Ever since we started going to BB & TL in 2004, we never wanted to go back to any other waterparks.

(We did make the mistake of going back to Dorney Park once in 2005...ohh never again. So not good, to us anyway, compared to WDW).

I agree with the other posters that your kids will love Tikes Peak at BB.

I too loved the water parks last year with my 19 month old. He had a blast. I had a little lift vest on him that he was already comfortabe with for the few atraction he could go on but other then that we played in the little kiddo area. My family was with us so we also had a 4 year old, a 3 year old ans a 10 year old. They all loved it and spent 2 whole days at the water parks.

You will really enjoy it! They have life vest to rent there (and SMALL towels) but we were able to use the vest we brought and it was not as bulky as the rentals.

I am trying to decide upon the water park package in October 07? This is our 1st trip & the package states, "water park & other"...wondering if this includes anything else?

Your kids will absolutely love it especially the younger ones will prefer playing in water rather than waiting in line for attractions.

I'd definitely suggest water parks for May......it will be a nice refreshing change that the whole family can enjoy....I love both BB and TL.....my daughter loved the wave pool at TL last time we went......and they have a little ship you can walk through and see the fish......if you have the time, try both.

I think that at a time of year when the parks aren't as busy they would be more enjoyable. We went in the summer and I had 3 major problems with the water park thing.

1) When it's the busy season just try and find 1 inch of available water space. It is just insane and to be honest my DH and I hated that. I was constanly worried some older child would hit my DD who was 4 at the time and drag her under when she wasn't prepared. I was constantly afraid for her safety. But again at a less busy time of year this would not be as big of an issue.

2) Our 2 kids were very different ages and swimming abilities. My DS wanted to go to the stuff for bigger kids and my DD wanted to stay in the toddler, young child area so my DH and I had to split up and each take a child. In the young child area I was trying to keep track of her on slides and intertube slides and make sure some nutcase didn't try anything funny. I would stay with her at the top as long as I could and when she was 2 or 3 kids away from going down I would run to the bottom to be there when she got there. I was getting quite a work out. I finally was able to talk one of the employees into letting me go down one of the slides with her even though parents aren't supposed to. At another slide I was able to kind of feel comfortable with one of the other moms to work it so she was at one end and I was at the other and we watched each others kid from our end. But I have to say even though she was having fun I was not.

3)Lastly because you are in a suit and in water you can't keep a cell phone handy and you can't wear a watch, unless you have one that can go uner water, so it was hard to find each other when it was time to try and get back together.

I personally won't be hitting a water park again, but if you decide to have a good game plan. You have some big age differences too and trust me your 10yo won't like the kiddy area for long and one parent with 2 small children will be tricky. Like I said we went at a busy HOT time of year so our experience is based on that.

Absolutely add!! Your little ones will love the children's area.

I think you should try both but I would suggest Typhoon Lagoon as your first. The big wave in the wave pool is a blast, even for little ones. The constant wave action at Blizzard Beach can become tiresome very quickly for both kids and adults.

I really like Typhoon Lagoon because of Shark Reef (snorkling with the fish in real saltwater, a wonderful opportunity!) and the Crush N Gusher roller coaster water side that goes UP as well as down!

The lazy river is very tranquil with the genuine plant life of so many different colors and the real palm trees. The lazy river at Blizzard Beach is fake melted snow. It's cute. But not real. I've had enough of cute and fake at the Dells. I like a warm paradise of palm trees gliding by as I float!

The little kids area is great and the family slides are all a blast. There's so much to do at Typhoon Lagoon that you'll probably not be able to do it all.
I love the theming too!

Trying to find a consensus :) ... which would people recommend for us, with boys ages 4 and 6, neither a very accomplished swimmer? We only have time for one water park.

You might want to look at the code watch thread for may they are offering free water park and more upgrades. We called our ta and got the up grade! So we will also be trying the water parks this year!:goodvibes
