Help gang..my group...myself..40ish...hubby..40ish...son 14 and son 11 are heading to the world in about 4 weeks or less. I have never been too Typhoon Lagoon nor Blizzard Beach. (not sure why...they just always got missed...?).

Anyhow, which one do you recommend and why? We have premium annual passes from last year so we can hit either one but probably will only do one.

all help appreciated,
Esmerelda...:)

I've asked this before and BB has more thrill rides- Typhoon Lagood -more laid back for smaller ages- we are going to BB- my kids are 11 and 13

I agree with the 2nd poster. BB has much more active things to do, while TL is more of a relaxing place. TL does have slides; most of them are body slides, while BB has mostly tube slides. TL does have that new "Crush 'n' Gusher" which is very fun, but that is the only real 'thrill' ride at TL.

Also, I like the wave pool better at BB than at TL. At TL there are big waves that push and pull you on the cement floor, while BB at a rolling wave pool where the waves just go up and down, and by the time they get to the edge, they aren't even a foot high.

We like BB the best and dont visit TL anymore. We like the theme at BB, the ski lift, the family raft ride (which is must better than TL's), Runoff rapids (tube slides) and the lazy river.

well the common oppinion from cast members is that Typhoon Lagoon is better. Blizzard Beach is always crowded and the wave pool is wimmpy.

Granted that the wave pool at Typhoon is very powerful. But it so fun. And this is comming from somebody who has been afraid of wave pools his whole life. Also you shouldn't miss out on the awsome experience of swiming with tropical fish sting rays and sharks, which can only be found at typhoon.

STINKS FOR US because BB will be closed when we go in Nov., only TL will be open. My 5 year old loves fast and dangerous rides, oh well.......

The 1st time we went we chose Blizzard Beach. This time we are making it easier and we chose Both! :cool1:  :cheer2:

You know, we've never got around to hitting the water parks either. I've always wanted to go but I've never wanted to take the time away from the parks. But this trip will be different. I have decided that we will go to at least one of the parks one day. Maybe BB if it has more thrill rides. Although TL sounds fun too. DH loves water parks so this will definately be a priority and since we were at the World in January we can take it easy this time around.

Are the water parks open in winter and how cold does the water get?

One water park is always open (they close one down for about 8 weeks for rehab each year, followed by the other the next 8 weeks or so). The water is heated so the water is never colder than it is in the summer, however the air outside can be cold on certain days. The temps can get into the 60's and low 70's. Lots of people don't think that is warm enough to swim.

I'm going to have to throw in a vote for TL. :) BB does have faster rides but TL's park is more lushly themed, especially nice on hot days where shade at BB is at a premium. And you can't beat swimming with the sharks for a unique experience if you've never done anything like that before!
